Maybe the 'Hulks' in 'Hulks and Horrors' refers to the game Space Hulk.

Social values for combat can make for a really cool story. My kids were introducing a friend to D&D. The party stumbled upon a Hill Giant. The Newby, not being familiar with Hill Giants, decided to talk to it. Things were looking tense until one of my daughters decided to shout "Happy birthday!" The DM was willing to go with it an dit made for a *very* memorable experience.

So, I have finally caught up with all your videos, and again, stellar work! I especially liked the RPG in a Box one, even more so since I completely disagree with Dawn of the Zeds 2nd ed. which I just did not like, but I liked your definition of an RPG, where you have characters in an environment that interact/influence said environment, and DotZ definitely does that. I also love that the second one is the Pandora (I have printed it all out and cut out the chits, this is firmly for my Christmas holidays and I am really looking forward to this one.) Also loved this Sci Fi RPG video here, very enjoyable. And Vengeance? Had not even heard about it, sounds like you had great fun!!! Keep gaming and videoing!

I will be interested to see how you like Pandora. I can't predict. I'm trying to think of sci fi vids on your channel for some baseline. Will need to dig around as I haven't watched your entire oeuvre.

Months ago I discovered your channel thanks to your video about “Voyage of the BSM Pandora”. Since then, I've been searching, almost obsessively, a modern alternative based on the same theme: space exploration with a strong narrative element. Sadly there aren't a lot of options, and most of them are very old and based on the classic Star Trek style (not my type). But, recently, I discovered the possibility of playing some rpg titles as solo, which increases the possibilities to find an option more suitable to my needs. Searching information about how to create the foundations for the story / gameplay I've returned to your channel again with this video. I find your process, using several sources, fascinating. I want to express my gratitude for introducing me in this rich and amazing world.

Thank you so much! What a lovely comments. I am so glad that you find my material helpful in getting into this rich world. I want to do more scifi solo stuff for the channel, but have not really focused on that so much. (my recent Coriolis vid is scifi). Thanks for commenting and it’s funny that you mention Star Trek (tho not to your taste) I recently acquired a copy of the adventure game from West End Games which is a paragraph-based game. I might possibly do a video about that but I’m not sure.

@@GeekGamers01 Although the imaginary of the Star Trek universe isn't my tempo, I have to recognize I have two titles based on this universe in my wishlist. One of them is that one from WEG. Solitaire friendly, space exploration, strong in narrative, not combat but persuasion... and all those ingredients cooked by Greg Costikyan. If it meets the expectations, in my humble opinion it could be a very interesting (and fun) topic for a video.

@@GeekGamers01 The other one is "Star Explorer" more similar to Pandora, focusing on planet exploration. The designer admitted it was intended as Star Trek game, but they didn't obtained the rights to use the brand. This one is available as PnP in drivethrurpg. I would love redesign its graphics someday in a custom version.

@@GeekGamers01 BTW, during my search of those kind of titles, I created a geeklist on BGG about this topic: boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/280567/space-exploration I would be glad if you know another other title, please, feel free to add it.

@@madDormo I was so happy to finally land a copy of this, long on my wish list. I'm a huge Costikyan fan (dating back to one of the first 'real' games I purchased, DeathMaze). I haven't had a chance to get Star Trek to my table yet but I hope it's involving enough to warrant a vid so stay tuned.

i will check it out, i am keen to try and do something solo - just getting interested in RPGs but have played alot of solo gamebooks when i was younger - Call of Cthulhu does have some solo adventures i have found - such as Alone against the Wendigo, Alone against the Flames, etc, but i would like to figure out some kind of way to play other parts of the CoC world like Dunwich and Shadows of Yog Sothoth -it seems they are all more investigation kind of rpgs, - is this possible to do solo is what i am wondering. - i guess if i could create a mystery that i dont fully know how to solve from the start and then have some time frame within to do it? - create some characters and see who survives and whats left of them
