Creating a Mobile Office in My Bellroy Tokyo Totepack // Easing Friction for More Creativity

I only have so much energy for creativity and productivity, so I'm always looking for ways to ease friction, save time, and marshall my resources to spend time on the things that are most important to me. I ordered a new backpack (the Tokyo totepack from Bellroy) and am putting all the things I need to create into it so I can have all my tools wherever I go.

thank you for your review. Helps with someone putting stationery items in as most reviews don't cover this. I love the browny colour but I'm torn between the sizes and the colours atm. LOL

Nice video Jenn! I stumbled on your Videos but enjoyed a couple of them. You have a new subscriber…. Are you still enjoying this? I have a problem with trying to find the perfect bag 😂. Looking for something to carry with me most of the time unless I go to the grocery store. I was looking at the Gram28 154 City pack and would love to drop it into this bag when I need to carry more stuff like my MacBook Air 13”

This is great, Jenn - what a great bag! I'm all in favour of bags like this & have several for different projects (though not as stylish as yours!) I have different ones for various projects (knitting, colouring, crystal art/diamond paintidng, tapestry/needlepoint, etc) they are great to keep everyrhing altogether for each thing, although i have to use storage boxes for other things like papercraft & card-making. I do have a designated room - turned our spare bedroom into a crafroom/studio when our daughter moved out & her room became the spare bedroom - so i stack the various bags on a shelving system in there. It's a small room but its workable - there's a foldable work table both my husband & i use, & he has shelves for his philately albums - although only one of us can be in there at one time, it's a shared space. We also have an (even smaller) little office room downstairs with fitted cupboards & drawers so we can keep files & various admin stuff separate. We both got fed up of keeping paperwork & our various hobby bits & pieces around the house so the two areas are invaluable for us. I'm interested in your noise cancelling headphones - they look portable & compact - i only have foam earplugs which don't work very well, & they make my ears itch! You'l have to keep us inforned on how well the bag is working for you around the houee or outside - i envision many happy hours with ease of service with it!

Belle, you have so many fascinating hobbies! I have a cabinet full of paper craft supplies and quite a lot of supplies from my former paper flower business in there as well. When my son moves out next month, I'll finally have my own studio/office! When we bought this house, we initially thought he'd only be with us for a year or two (he was a college freshman at the time) but then the pandemic happened and now it's been four years and he's only just now moving into his own place. I love having him here, so I'm not complaining, but I do wish we'd found something with one more room, knowing what I know now.

Oh! The headphones are by Beats. I used to have the tiny earbuds kind, which were much more convenient to carry around, but they gave me horrible skin infections (or maybe allergic reactions?). Over-the-ear works much better for me.

@@fromjenn Paper flowers sounds like an interesting & enjoyable hobby, Jenn, esp turning it into a business. I make wreaths but use already made artificial flowers. I also do a lot off beadwork. My main hobby is minaturia - making items for dolls houses. My daughter & i have 13 houses between us - some are the American open backed ones made by Greenleaf - i thought she'd take hers with her when she moved but she still has no room for them so i've still got them all. I know what you mean - our daughter moved out a couple of times when she was younger but came back! She eventually got her own place & was there a few yrs before moving in with her partner during the pandemic. Then they found a nice house between them which came up quite quickly afterwards so we had to help her move twice in 2mnths last year which was a bit stressful, esp with a dog & two ragdoll house cats! As much as you love having your son with you, it will be lovely when you can have your own studio/office space!

I have school starting in January and have my mind set on the tokyo Tote back! But I am in a dilemma between this color and the black one. I want a colour that will match best with lots of outfits/colors. I have a lot of colorful clothes for instance orange, green, blue, pink, maroon, red, yellow etc. I have a few darker clothes like dark blue or black but I rarely wear them if ever. Which color of the bag would be best matching with my wardrobe? P.S. Also keep in mind that I am a 28 year old male. Would a bellroy bag be suitable for me for school? Or is it for younger college kids

I personally think the Bellroy bag is well-suited for adults--I'm 50 and use mine pretty regularly. The orange is a great color, but if you want something to go with everything, the black might serve you better. I wear a LOT of black, so I wanted something to contrast with that.

Yes! I use it regularly, both for taking work out to a cafe or elsewhere and for storing my work necessities when I need to give up my studio to act as a guest room for a few days. I’m still really happy with it.

@@fromjenndo you bother using it much as a tote bag, or do you keep it as a backpack pretty much 100% of the time? Do you find it looks more “polished” one way or another? I’m trying to get a feel for how it would be in action, but I struggle to find any reviews worth shots of people actually wearing and carrying it, so it’s hard to get an idea for how it looks in action! 😅
