A bit annoyed about different protocols for different lines yet a statement pops up often that goes something like: this works with that, this and the other-Except. For a noob this is less fun. Autoborne sealer vs 4030?

  • @TheAirbrushGarage

I like the Autoborne sealers if needed for the application (base coat) it supplies very good adhesion. I have not used the 4030 in the same way as the sealer, I have only used it as an intercoat (over color) or an additive for the candy 2o. Watch some videos on the sealer and then decide if it fits your application. Here is the spec sheet. storage.googleapis.com/createx-tech/pdf/tds/AutoBorne-Sealer-TDS.pdf

Thank you for the video. I'm getting into Radio Control and I'm learning how to airbrush the lexan RC bodies. My first one was okay but maintaining a good flow with the paint is becoming a challenge. I use the createx wiked color and mixing them with the 4050 and 4011 and I dont see to have good result. It create a lot of tip dry and I have maintain my PSI like in 40 and thin a lot the mix in order for the paint to flow. Should I not use the 4050 in the mix with the paint?

  • @TheAirbrushGarage

RC, I don't use the 4050 for anything except as a carrier for the Candy 2o. I use wicked and illustration pretty much exclusively and I use water for the illustration and 4011 for the wicked. Use a small paint brush dipped in the 4011 to clean the tip of your bush when you get the tip dry. This does a much better job than using your fingers. Dab with a paper towel before continuing to spray, you don't want to blow reducer on to your project. It takes a little time no matter what brand of paint you use to dial in what works best for you. Don't give up on it. You'll get it. You can also reach out to Createx for some advice and they may evens end you some free paint. "Maybe". Hope this helps. I paint fishing lures. Would you recommend adding UVLS into the paint along with 4011 & 4030? Should it be added into the cocktail and wait the obligatory 10 minutes? Can you mix 4011, 4030, and UVLS ahead of time and keep it in a bottle ready to use or does it need to be mixed just prior to use? I’ve tried to watch the Createx videos. I just watched their mixing video three times. It seems to me that they say every one of their products should be used in any and every situation, they all improve product performance, you always start at 5-10%, and you always wait 10 minutes Your video blows away the ones from Createx. I am a subscriber. Thx

Chuck, If you are using Wicked, and that's what I would be using for lures, you only need to mix it with the 4011 reducer. Wicked is formulated for hard and exterior surfaces and is UV resistant. Spray a good clear when you are done and you will be good to go. Some add the 4050 UVLS for added durability, but it really isn't needed, and some say it helps with flowability. DO NOT use the 4030! They really should have pulled it from the shelves. It does not work well with some of there products. The 4050 UVLS is a very good product and is the replacement for the 4030. I only use the 4050 UVLS clear as a carrier for my Candy 2o. Candies are a dye, not a paint, so they need a carrier and the 4050 with the 4011 works great. And lastly, after mixing the reducer with the paint, letting it sit a few ministates, give it one more mix an go! Thanks for the questions and thanks for watching.

Ernest, I recommend using the reducer your specific paint recommends. If you are using Createx then use the 4011. The extended base sounds like it is to thicken the paint if it is over reduced and it will not effect the color. Sounds like the same thing as transparent base by createx. Always test your paint on something other than your project untill you get more experience with you paints. Hope this helps. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching.

@@mateoesquerdo2337 do not use the 4030! If you choose to use a clear additive use the 4050 uvls. These Clears were designed to be the carrier for the Candy 2o. But they can be use to enhance the durability and light fastness (protection against uv sun raise) of the paint. This is usually used on hard surface exterior applications. Brooke, I looked up the paints you have and it looks like you should just reduce with water. They are acrylic water based paints similar to the createx Illustration colors. The main ingredient in the createx 4011 reducer is alcohol. It probably would work but is not needed for what you have. @@TheAirbrushGarage sorry man, but you're wrong. I can only share my experiences and it is never my intention to misinform. I relize 4011 was first. What I am saying is it's been a long time but I belive I started with 4012 for the first 12 years or so and then started to use the 4011. Do you not agree that createx toted the 4012 as their preferred reducer for quite a few years? And now, in the past few years 4011 is there preferred reducer. I used to watch Craig Fraiser videos all the time and he would used 4012 all the time with no mention of 4011, even in the 4030 balancing clear video's. And now we all know how that turned.
