Halo has the best story and multiplayer. Halo's near-open world campaign was incredible at the time and still is. That's what makes Halo's campaigns constantly replayable. Unlike the CoD franchise, Halos 1 thru 3 all had many ways to explore the map so you didn't have to go straight to the mission objective if you didn't want to. Ah yes and ofcourse Forge World, this map has always been my chillout zone, when I didn't want to be out there fighting the *_damn covenant_* or fighting some other players online, i always tend to launch forge, choose Forge World, start the game, take a falcon and just explore the map. People are just too blind to see that CoD is the WORST franchise ever and just won't admit that Halo is the ONLY good shooter nowadays. May Halo last forever!

@@billybobbob3003 it has that weird surreal atmosphere in the campaign where you feel like a very tiny part of something much bigger than you, but are still a fucking badass. And Halo's multiplayer is wwaaaayyyyyy more versatile than any of my experiences with the other franchises. Halo's multiplayer can change in so many ways due to its sandbox's simplicity (until H4 :( ) And by design, halo is well suited to be a competitive game as it took a lot of inspiration from games like Quake, with the equal starts, to emphasis on map knowledge (though Halo is much slower). The main reason Halo can't hold up to Quake or UT is because: 1) it was primarily a console game, the majority of the esports community can't take that seriously. 2) Very poor execution in terms of marketing, and satisfying pros' needs in competitive playlists, which is a problem with Microsoft, not the game. It has a lot of potential though, and 343 just haven't utilised it correctly.

Really amazing work. Wish I could at some point do anything even remotely close to this! One thing I would like to touch upon is the greenery, you mention that you wanted to use foliage that was natural and looked like it belongs to the environment, whilst you did a great jobs of it, you could have used more variety in foliage color. I get that the map has a lot of green in it, but when it comes to such a high quality render, I think the foliage needs variety. This is especially important when you have dead trees in the scene. There should be other foliage that don't get the nourishment they need. Even if it was on the edges on the roads where the grass started to turn brown it would have given the scene much more realistic look, whilst not taking anything away from the original look of the map.

I'm just getting started with game Dev programs. I'd be so happy to learn Unreal using Halo as reference. That game brought me into PC gaming to begin with.

Hoping to see you in the livestream, then! :) we'll be hosting a 1 hour+ livestream tomorrow, and in a week or two we'll publish another tutorial on this map, followed by a livestream for that specific tutorial as well :)

Beautiful work. Just a nitpick but why did you tilt the ring to one side? It's really bothering me lol

This is awesome. The first screenshot reminded me of Blood Gulch from MCC multiplayer, but I didn't realize how much detail yours had until you showed the comparison shots. I going to sub because I want to learn more about this. Maybe I will try unity out sometime. Thanks.

Quixel has really grown in the past months, i'v always loved your assets and videos. Just an idea, you could recreate fallout 4's famous Red Rocket using Quixel materials.

It wont, but maybe we can hope for a dedicated SDK for modders.

it just needs forge similar to halo 3 for just small edits like weapon placements and spawn locations and stuff, and then a proper fully fledged map editor for geometry and everything.

It’s been months since I’ve posted a comment here so I came back to say that I watched the forge leaks we have at the moment for halo infinite, and dare I say it’s going to be able to recreate this pretty accurately!

I mean I guess he thought the rings surface was concave which would make this scene make more sense and if you thing about it, it’s kinda cool
