Balance is critical for so many activities we do throughout the day and it is many times overlooked in training. So instead of training balance by simply placing yourself on an unstable surface start with some basics.
Here we first go through a good timing activity which focuses on getting the core to engage first which sets the stage for overall improved stability. Next, by doing an upper-body rotational activity you can force more stability by not rotating focusing on maintaining an upright posture.
The last two activities place the body in more of an unstable situation while doing some fundamental movement patterns.
One key consideration if you believe there is a balance problem is to check ankle mobility, since a lack of ankle mobility could be the driver for a balance problem.
