Create an INTENTIONAL WARDROBE PLAN on Pinterest to FIND YOUR PERSONAL STYLE // FMPSA: EPISODE 3

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

#FMPSA Episode 3. In today's episode, I take you through how I created my own intentional wardrobe plan on Pinterest, to find my personal style again!
The point of creating an intentional wardrobe plan is to help you to become more organised with your wardrobe and ensure you are only buying things that match your personal style and that you will love and wear for years to come. This helps you to SAVE MONEY and SAVE WASTE! Planning is essential for a slow fashion mindset.
In the video, I go through all the intentional questions to ask yourself so that you are creating a plan that will actually serve you well. I am using Pinterest to create my wardrobe plan, and I also share my Pinterest tips to find the best outfits for your board.
This is episode 3 of "Finding My Personal Style again" series #FMPSA

This is brilliant Emily. Many stylists suggest similar steps but they are too vague. Instead you give tools, stories, actual examples and specific questions to ask yourself. The way you approach your intentionality questions easily helped me create my own. I have been working on my style for about 8 months (every day!) and I think I actually know my style - finally! And THANK YOU for your cardigan sweater story. I have a few of those that I will happily 'pin the shit out of'. I look forward to watching all of your videos.

Oh my goodness Emily, I would never have described or thought your look as Grandma Style 😲 You are a gorgeous Aussie woman. If we all dressed the same how dull and ordinary would this world be? Why are women so often harsh to other women? We need to stop and as you say be kind! 💜 I love cardigans too 😉

I would add that cardigans are so trendy these days so they don't necessary make looks grandma-like, the comment was may be referring to the fact of her dressing classical, because that can make someone look older in opposition to dressing more casual or French like, but again classical is trendy these days too, they secret I guess is to maintain the classical pieces but just one piece at a time, whether clothes or accessories, trying to always frenchisize the looks, balancing them with other informal pieces like t-shirts, jeans, sneakers, which I guess in general she tries to do but may be also balancing the formal pieces with a more informal not perfect hair, that can make a look much cooler and young and that together with a kind of no make up make up face, or sometimes just not wearing earrings or jewelry or at least being very conscious about wearing not much of it and in the correct place according to the outfit to keep it clean.

I remember in high school my sisters a I went to Goodwill and I got a vintage midi length coat. It was from the 1950's and it nipped in at the waist and flared out. It had huge buttons and amazing sleeves, it was awesome. Well I wore it to school and the popular mean girls made fun of me. I so wish my 16 year old self in in 1971 would have ignored them. I never wore that coat again. At this stage in my life I still love fashion and could care less if someone does not like what I wear. For me I know I nailed it when a younger women compliments my outfit choice. The biggest thing about our clothes is that they are a great way to express ourselves. Never listen to those that tell you something you feel good in (and you could rock a paper bag) is wrong. Shallow people need to conform to everything that is trending at the moment and are clueless about personal style. And.......Grandmas can be really cool.

Isn't funny how that in real life, no-one you know or even people you meet would say 'you look like a granny!', However, when it comes to someone you don't know personally on KZread, suddenly it becomes an open slather!!! Commenting on KZread can really bring out the inner 'b####' in so many sweet people! I think my biggest internal dilemma is my fantasy self. There are so many things I absolutely love that I know would look good on me but my lifestyle and work just don’t require this...it’s disappointing! I try to add things here and there to make my casual outfits more unique or interesting but it’s not easy. First world problems;)

Hi there Emily, I have to agree, I too struggle with the “fantasy self” and I proceeded to tell my daughter all about this phenomenon! She seriously suffers from it! We both also see an outfit on someone else and determine we want it but once we’ve acquired it, we find it doesn’t suit us, but we should have simply admired it from afar!! So many things you’ve spoke of resonated with me. I think a soft curtain bang would look beautiful on you! Why not do it! You’re beautiful and you can certainly pull a bang look! Looking forward to seeing your new boots!

The cardigan part was so great. I just watched 4 of your vids and I am absolutely in love with creamy relaxed/ballony looking sleeves cardigan you were wearing over white T, so to hear that someone had a problem with cardis is just hilarious to me. I find that simple " I like it" reponse to other people ideas works wonders if you own that statement . Great video.

I love your style Emily, and we have very similar pin boards and ex careers. I am nearly 20 years older than you and still love this classic chic style. Sometimes I question if I am too old to wear certain things, but like you said, the right question is How does this make me feel? If I like it and I am comfortable and confident, then that's all that matters. I am on a journey of consuming less and decluttering. I really took away a lot from this video series and I wanted to say thank you! best wishes.

I come home and love it and “plan” to wear it but I have so many in my closet that I haven’t worn. I’m tired of spending money on things I don’t wear and really want to be more intentional which is why I love watching your videos. These are all great tips and I appreciate you helping us. Ih, you know what else helped me dramatically to find my new style I tracked every day what I wore for 6 month and then I photographed or screenshot these items into a visual file ( I used PowerPoint just because I use it for work but any visual is great). When I took my top 5 most worn items in each category (T, cardi, shirts, pants, jackets etc) and placed them next to each other in the file. At this point as I was looking at my top 5s I started to describe the style in front of me. I saw comfort, natural fabrics, many but not all sustainable brand, I saw warm colors, I saw relaxed silhouettes etc etc. So visually looking at your most worn items can tell a story if you display them in the way that you can study them as a piece of art.

Thank you! This video is so helpful to me! I just decluttered my wardrobe and there isn’t much left! My lifestyle has changed and I have shed some weight. You have provided me with an excellent, exciting plan to redefine my style. Honestly, I was overwhelmed, but now I can move forward feeling excited. For me, the most important question to ask myself will be, “How does this outfit make me feel?” I’m also considering changing the way I wear my hair. By the way, I am a grandmother and I dress in my own way. As a mature woman, I often look to Linda Rodin and Lynn Slater for inspiration. You have inspired me Emily from the first time I saw one of your videos! I would encourage you to ignore any negative comments,... choose not to let them in. In the meantime, Best Wishes on your wardrobe journey! Be well!

This was great! I buy virtually all my shoes on eBAY. I know what brands work for me and what sizes in those brands and I stick to those. I only get very lightly used shoes, and if it is sneakers, new ones that haven't sold for some reason. I have tons of Stuart Weitzman ballets in my closet for instance that I could never afford new. It saves money and also means you aren't encouraging the fast fashion people.
