You can use a PivotTable in Microsoft Excel to combine data from multiple worksheets. In this video I'll show you 2 methods you can use depending on your situation.
Join 400,000+ professionals in our courses here 👉 link.xelplus.com/yt-d-all-cou...
🔑 Key Tutorial Features:
▪️ Method 1 - Append Data: Learn the efficient way to combine similar data from different sheets without manual copy-pasting. This method is perfect for sheets with identical columns in varying orders.
▪️ Method 2 - Merge Data: Discover the smart approach to connect detailed data spread across tabs, such as linking product codes to names. This method simplifies data consolidation for effective PivotTable creation.
▪️ Practical Use Cases: Apply these methods to everyday business scenarios like merging sales data from multiple stores or connecting product information for comprehensive analysis.
You might need to combine data from different sheets into one table and then create a pivot table based on the one table. In this case you'll need to append the data. Don't use formulas to append the data. Specially if your column headers are in a different order, this can get quite complex. Instead you can use Get & Transform (Power Query) from the "Data" tab in Excel. With Power Query you can append the data from different sheets (even from different files and sources) and create a single Pivot Table.
Sometimes you might need to combine the data from the different sheets by using a lookup function like VLOOKUP to get more information from another table into the table that you need to create a pivot table on. Don't use VLOOKUP to add additional columns, instead use relationships from the "Data" tab. With relationships you automatically add your tables to the data model and you get to create a power pivot based on this. You don't need to write a single formula.
Your results will be dynamic too. Once you get new data, all you have to do is "refresh" your pivottable and the new data is there!
These pivot table tips are going to help you analyze your data and get better and faster insights into your data.

There is no way I could have completed this project without your videos!! Method 2 here is exactly what I needed. Thanks so much!!
Very useful, this is what I do in Tableau, I didn't know this was possible in Excel. Excel will never be redundant. Your videos are very useful and easy to learn, thanks!
Wow, thank you for this content. I'm creating a personal finance tool using multiple bank statement sources and this tutorial worked perfectly for me to combine and quickly analyze. AND I didn't have to troubleshoot a single function! Amazing.
I was trying to understand this last week through other tutorials. But you made it look so simple. The simple examples you use for the explanation make your methods unique

I had to watch a 35-minute video twice about Power Query a few months back and now you had it in 11 minutes. Thank you Leila :)
I can't say how much I love this tutorial! It was exactly what I was looking for to accomplish a current work project. Thank you so much!
Thank you for showing method 2, really useful and super easy. I always learn a great deal from your tutorials.

Thank you for this overview. Pivot Tables are something I've never got my head around normally because I have some else on the team who is a whiz. The video explains how to approach my problem in a simple, well explained and succinct presentation.
Ms. Leila Gharani Thank you for the best tutorials ever seen in KZread...

Can you tell me how to use Power pivot for this?
Thanks Leila. I use method 1 often but method 2 also comes out of my toolbox on occasion. The nice thing about using the data model is being able to set a number format like currency, which comes into all subsequent pivot tables already set.
What I love about your videos is 1. Presentation is excellent and very easy to understand 2. Each minute is informative and there is no time wasting . It's power packed , simple and straight to point. I can understand the time and effort it takes to create a concise video. Thank you for your video and effort taken. You make me love excel even more 😍
Leila, you and this video deserve a thumbs up just by having explained the method 1, which is not commonly taught by others. Most videos I've seen so far concentrate on explain only method 2 (same column in all tables), however I just need something as you explained in the first part. Just want to thank you by this! Success!
Definitely found a use for Method 1 as a friend has multiple sheets of the same data but just for different vehicles. I tried it for at least 6 of those sheets, and voila....it was beautiful!! Thanks Leila...you are awesome!
interesting and a huge time saver. Appears Excel taking on usability of MS Access, makes sense since they both use VBA.
2 for relatively easy ones. When I do 1, the data tend to be enormous and takes hours.. Thank you, Leila, for showing me how to do them.
Thank you is not enough. u've helped me a lot. Truly appreciate all the support u're giving us here on youtube.
Leila, you just made me smile. Thank you!!!
My monthly data is so huge that I'm required to split it into two sheets (1st to 15th and then 16th to end of the month). I was searching since past so many days a method to create a pivot from multiple sheets and today came across your video... I usually don't comment on KZread videos... but I couldn't hold myself from expressing my APPRECIATION and GRATITUDE towards this video. Thank you for sharing this wonderful method/trick.... God bless you! Is there a method where we can create a connection between different workbooks too?
Definitely method 2. Thank you as always for you excellent teaching! Love all your tutorial videos.
Wow. This one was really helpful. I can now append a large dataset in Power Query and use for Pivoting without bothering Excel going slow. Thank you Leila.🥺

Excellent video! Very helpful! May I ask, however, why at around 4:05, do you create a "connection" before you append the tables? What is a "Connection"?
Outstanding, used the 2nd option and it worked fantastically! What a teacher!
Hi Leila, your videos are simply amazing!!! Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us!!
A great tutorial, leaned a lot on method 1 (instead of c&p into one table Which I did so far). How could both scnearios be combined, when you have multiple input tabs and the need to enrich data ? The data model allows a relationship to a table, but not to a query.
@aynino
2 жыл бұрын
I suspect you will first need to apply your transformations (or enrichment) of the data into power query, then load your new tables as « table » into your workbook and use that as the basis for your data model.
Hello, thank you for an excellent tutorial. I made up a dataset with three different worksheets but all with the same id number to serve as the primary key linking them. I followed the second method to create a relationship between the three worksheets. However, when I try to create a pivot table with info from the three worksheets, it pops up a message saying relationships need to be created. When I look at the data model, I see that the three sheets were recognised in the diagram view. What am I doing wrong?

Many thanks , I have tried method #2 in my work but when I tried to sort the column from largest to smallest it did not work is there is any reason for that ?
That was great. I already use pviot tables and queries and it was educational to see better ways to combine data. Thank you
Saved 20 hours of my life.. big thanks
This is very useful! I tried method 2, but when I tried to make the relationship, it says that the columns to relate can't be repeated in the table. I'm trying to make a pivot table from to sheets, one has records of invoice number, and the other has records of cash receipts to that invoice number. A client can make multiple payments for just un invoice, so the invoice number will be repeated in the sheet of the cash receipts. The reason I want a pivot table is because I need to do a check balance with to see if the customer paid the invoice completely. Can you please help with that? Thanks!

Fantastic! Great Job!
Thank you! I used method 1 to solve a huge problem, an over 1,000,000 rows problem. I am pulling together a month's worth of data and it gives me over 1 millions rows, which Excel can't handle in a single sheet. So I created 2 sheets (with about 700k rows on each). But I needed to combine the data to analyze and give to my customers. Method 1 saved me. Thank you!
This is so helpful, I would have saved lots of time if I had known about this earlier.
I found both methods useful. Thank you
Thank you! Using method 1... going to look thru your videos to see how to have that start but add new worksheet to the whole...
