Crazy Rich Asians Home|Belanda House|Asia's Most Luxurious Mansion|Modern Extraordinary Architecture

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Welcome to DESIGN SEED!
Today’s episode we had the opportunity to head up to this Hillside Mansion featured in the movie “Crazy Rich Asians” by WarnerBros.
The client bought a very steeply sloping lot in the jungle facing a forest reserve on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur, and the lot was sloping down from the road, from the entrance level.
Located on a thirty five degree slope, the house, known as the Be-Landa house.
Overall throughout the house, the relationship between the spaces is experienced vertically rather than horizontally, with a total of seven staircases threading the spaces together.
We hope you will enjoy this episode!
Thank you for watching!

This is the most amazing house ive seen so far. I am just so inlove with the whole concept and overall aesthetic. Ive watched this like countless times. Ive always been amazed how houses were built in a slope. It must be a challenge from structural and architectural perspectives. One day, i will have a house like this sitting in a slope with a calm overlooking mountain and forests at the back of the house.

The Architects and team behind this awesome project have the full knowledge of Malaysia's geography given the fact that the house at the centre of a forest and has open areas which are totally exposed to wet weather conditions; there's a greater chance that the area is not prone to typhoons paths; but on bright weather it really looks spectacular as been showcased.

As gorgeous as it looks I think this design is impractical in Malaysia due to insects and bugs especially mosquitoes, dust and the precipitation due to the climate.

What an elegant home! It really engages the imagination! But what happens when it rains a lot? Do the stairs turn into water falls? Aren't the stairways slippery at that point?

In Malaysia, thunderstorms are short lived but fierce and almost daily following intense scorching sun. Whenever I wash my balcony, porch or even do laundry, it takes around an hour in the midday sun to dry completely.

In Malaysia, thunderstorms are short lived but fierce and almost daily preceding/following intense scorching sun. Whenever I wash my balcony, porch or even do large laundry, it takes around an hour in the midday sun to dry completely. After a while, wet floors, insects, wildlife doesn’t bother too much. It’s very refreshing with cool breeze in the forest reserves. The trick to minimise mosquitoes is to build the house on higher ground away from the dense tropical trees, at the same height of the “crown” of the trees.

With that kind of detailing and slope building.. I guess its probably around RM1200 per sqft ... 8%-10% fees from total construction cost for design

Honest question here - how do you manage rain and especially mosquitos? The upper deck of the living pavillion seems to have sliding windows and the lower deck seems to be completely open. Wouldn't all the furnishing get wet if there's rain and wind? And wouldn't you get bitten by mosquitos every time you sit out there?

I guess they wouldn’t mind the furnitures outside to be wet, they have blinds to closed it up when it’s raining to prevent the inside of the house from getting wet Angmoh more hairy, mosquitoes have trouble biting hairy people.

Mosquitoes are weak flyers. They couldn't fly from the jungle floor to the upper deck. In the case they got swept up by the wind to the upper deck, the ceiling fans will make it hard for them to control their flying. Their best chances to survive at the upper decks are by hiding from the winds generated by the fan and the jungle.
