In today's video, I'll be opening one of the brand new 2023-24 Panini Donruss Optic Basketball Mega boxes, and two of the Blaster boxes in a retail box battle.
The Megas sell for $55 a box in store and online. Donruss Optic features a 250 card base set consisting of 200 veterans and 50 Rated Rookie cards. Each box contains 7 8-card packs. Expect to find 14 exclusive Pink Hyper parallels and 9 inserts or parallels per box on average. Look for Holo, Hyper Pink, and SSP Checkerboard non-numbered cards. Serial parallels to find include Blue Seismic(#'d/249), and Hyper Orange(#'d/99). Chase Signature and Rookie Signature Autographs. Insert sets include the returning Splash, My House, Winner Stays, Optical Illusions, White Hot Rookies, Red Hot Rookies, and Express Lane. New to Optic retail is the case hit Phazes insert, adding an exciting chase to the product for 2023. Insert parallels are limited to non-numbered Holo and Purple.
The blaster boxes sell for $30-35 a box. Each box contains 6 5-card packs. Expect to find 7 inserts or parallels per box on average. Look for Holo, Purple, and SSP Checkerboard non-numbered cards. Serial parallels to find include Copper Glitter(#'d/99), Red Glitter(#'d/49), and Blue Glitter(#'d/15). Chase Signature and Rookie Signature Autographs that come in Blue(#'d/25) and Checkerboard(1-of-1's) parallels. Insert sets include the returning Splash, My House, Winner Stays, Optical Illusions, White Hot Rookies, Red Hot Rookies, and Express Lane. Insert parallels include non-numbered Holo and Purple alongside numbered with Lime Green(#'d/149) and Gold(#'d/10).
Optic highlights the new rookie class of Victor Wembanyama, Scoot Henderson, Brandon Miller, Keyonte George, Jamie Jaquez, and Ausar and Amen Thompson.

Blasters have the higher ceiling, lower floor. Megas lower ceiling, higher floor.

Mejerle for the dub! If not for him, I’d say blasters. In one of your vids a couple months back, we talked about favorite basketball teams and I said mine were Sonics, Suns, & Celtics…specifically mentioning Mejerle. Love it!

Nice pulls in those Optic blasters. I've actually had better pulls for Wemby in the Megas myself but those glitters were nice, decent players at that.
You may not get Downtowns in the basketball product, but I like that there's a possibility of a gold My House.
