You can have cameras. The only problem is. There will always be some crybaby throwing a sissy fit. The thing in this country is that you do not win.
there is no evidence to suggest she is watching the kids, why would she and why would she be bothered. If this other neighbour has a problem, call the police. A 55 year old persons neighbourhood, how was he allowed to move in their with kids. She can have her camera's anywhere she wants. I totally agree the police will go around a neighborhood looking for cameras when a crimes committed. What people also don’t understand is just because it looks like it’s pointing at their home we as camera owners set the boundary of what area is being recorded. I have a camera it only turns on and records if an actual human is in the vicinity of the boundaries we have set I can guarantee they aren’t recording his home. My cameras never get activated by my neighbors as long as they are not on my property. It’s set to only detect people on my property. He should have asked how it works maybe instead of assuming. So how does that work with doorbell cameras? You think people should hire electricians to run wire underground and up to some unsightly pole 6 feet away from their front door so the camera is facing towards their door so it doesn't "see" their neighbor's front yard across the street? Come on, this is ridiculous. It's very common for outdoor security cameras to capture more than just the owner's property. There's absolutely nothing inappropriate or illegal about that. Now, if she had a camera mounted on a pole inside her fence for the sole purpose of monitoring his back yard, that would be a different case--still not illegal, but it would be inappropriate for sure. But that's not at all the case here.
I can see this from both sides, neighbour thinks it's intrusion into his garden ehich is private property but also the home owner has every right to install cameras to watch their own property, going around acusing your neighbour of having cameras watching your back garden where there is kids, that being the argument is essentially calling this home owner a pervert and watching children, which really isn't the case at all, obviously we don't know 100% but the chances are unlikely, there is a cause of concern sure but to go around and instantly put out that you have kids out in the back and you think the neighbours cameras are purposefully for spying on your kids is the wrong way about doing this, could of simply asked to see how the cameras are pointed or made small talk about them, perhaps wanting similar cameras and seeing how good the quality is, easy access to see if they are looking directly into your garden, if it was that bad you could ask if it would be possible for them to black out your garden as you'd like privacy, but again though they don't have to, not everyone is out to spy on kids or to be malicious, if it bothered you that much get your own cameras watching your garden and you too also have a clear view to your neighbours and their privacy, I'm sure there is alternatives around this, you obviously do have an expectation of privacy and if you feel it is being done with ill intent you can get enforcement taken but this was done the wrong way.
She's nuts...lol! I think he was reasonable, but it is her house. Easy fix would be just show him they don't record in his yard if they don't. But not sure the issue with it seeing kids playing in a yard?? Cameras are everywhere and record his kids in the front yard too then. Ppl are crazy these days with their entitled wants.
Set up your own and clearly point them towards her house. Even better, get the ones with spotlights.

The pool owner is entitled to have a security camera on her pool. PERIOD. Friends of mine in San Diego had a pool... the neighborhood kids and teenagers thought they had a perfect right to jump the fence, swim in the pool, have parties at the pool, and harassed the owner of the house & pool when banned and trespassed. Someone who objects to the pool owner making sure the pool area is safe? I'd wonder why he's so concerned that someone could see what his kids are doing - like jumping the fence? It's actually for the safety of HIS kids, in fact - to make sure that stupid kids don't do something extremely stupid and drown in the neighbor's pool. Depending on which side of the line the back yard fence stands on... if it's actually on his property, he could extend HIS fence to ensure HIS privacy. If it's on the pool owners' side of the line, he could build a fence on HIS side of the line that's 2-3' higher.

He actually started being polite, non-threatening. She was rude and aggressive from the get go. I wouldn't want cameras pointed in my property either. All she had to do was show him on her cell phone that the cameras were not pointed at his yard and kids. If it were me, I would have reassured my neighbor that I'm looking out for everyone in the neighborhood. First, she pretends not to know him and then talks about his kids. A bunch of B.S. She could have handled that way better. He was in NO WAY a crazy neighbor, she was. Not a popular opinion, but I call it the way I see it.

I understand his concern; but the cameras can be placed anywhere someone desires as long as they are positioned on the individual's owned property. She could put a 50-foot pole in the back with a big 360-degree camera on top of it if she wanted to and it's her right to do so.
