That is something I think about! Especially if you yourself don't have any cameras in or around your house. It's actually a good thing in situations like that. Unless the guy is throwing a hissy fit is doing something shady himself he doesn't want caught on camera. Nowadays there are cameras EVERYWHERE! So it's just common sense to be mindful of what you're doing and in what area. And better yet just be a decent person. Besides lady said the cameras are pointing towards the pool. Though I don't know what position his house is in or what his backyard looks like 🤷‍♀.

I totally agree the police will go around a neighborhood looking for cameras when a crimes committed. What people also don’t understand is just because it looks like it’s pointing at their home we as camera owners set the boundary of what area is being recorded. I have a camera it only turns on and records if an actual human is in the vicinity of the boundaries we have set I can guarantee they aren’t recording his home. My cameras never get activated by my neighbors as long as they are not on my property. It’s set to only detect people on my property. He should have asked how it works maybe instead of assuming. The conversation could have been a whole lot different.

So how does that work with doorbell cameras? You think people should hire electricians to run wire underground and up to some unsightly pole 6 feet away from their front door so the camera is facing towards their door so it doesn't "see" their neighbor's front yard across the street? Come on, this is ridiculous. It's very common for outdoor security cameras to capture more than just the owner's property. There's absolutely nothing inappropriate or illegal about that. Now, if she had a camera mounted on a pole inside her fence for the sole purpose of monitoring his back yard, that would be a different case--still not illegal, but it would be inappropriate for sure. But that's not at all the case here.

  • @D0DG3R

I can see this from both sides, neighbour thinks it's intrusion into his garden ehich is private property but also the home owner has every right to install cameras to watch their own property, going around acusing your neighbour of having cameras watching your back garden where there is kids, that being the argument is essentially calling this home owner a pervert and watching children, which really isn't the case at all, obviously we don't know 100% but the chances are unlikely, there is a cause of concern sure but to go around and instantly put out that you have kids out in the back and you think the neighbours cameras are purposefully for spying on your kids is the wrong way about doing this, could of simply asked to see how the cameras are pointed or made small talk about them, perhaps wanting similar cameras and seeing how good the quality is, easy access to see if they are looking directly into your garden, if it was that bad you could ask if it would be possible for them to black out your garden as you'd like privacy, but again though they don't have to, not everyone is out to spy on kids or to be malicious, if it bothered you that much get your own cameras watching your garden and you too also have a clear view to your neighbours and their privacy, I'm sure there is alternatives around this, you obviously do have an expectation of privacy and if you feel it is being done with ill intent you can get enforcement taken but this was done the wrong way.

The pool owner is entitled to have a security camera on her pool. PERIOD. Friends of mine in San Diego had a pool... the neighborhood kids and teenagers thought they had a perfect right to jump the fence, swim in the pool, have parties at the pool, and harassed the owner of the house & pool when banned and trespassed. Someone who objects to the pool owner making sure the pool area is safe? I'd wonder why he's so concerned that someone could see what his kids are doing - like jumping the fence? It's actually for the safety of HIS kids, in fact - to make sure that stupid kids don't do something extremely stupid and drown in the neighbor's pool. Depending on which side of the line the back yard fence stands on... if it's actually on his property, he could extend HIS fence to ensure HIS privacy. If it's on the pool owners' side of the line, he could build a fence on HIS side of the line that's 2-3' higher.

All he did was put this lady on the defensive before he really told her anything. The woman was crazier than the guy. His concern was understandable, his approach was polite and his solution was reasonable. She immediately jumped on the defensive, immediately started attacking him for simply having kids in the neighborhood and overall showed herself to be incredible unpleasant and uncooperative.

55+ communities generally do not have kids living in them. His concern is not understandable. Not all cameras have the same field of view. If his only concern is cameras that can supposedly see his kids, he's trying to imply the neighbours are pedos and I'd be offended too if that guy came to my house and I wouldn't be as polite as that lady.

About 21,500,000 results (0.56 seconds) For the most part, your neighbor is legally allowed to have security cameras installed on their property, even if those cameras are aimed at your property. However, your neighbor does not have the right to record you or anyone else without consent in areas with reasonable expectation of privacy.

@DW11111 If you had a pool or a hot tub in your fenced in backyard that your kids mess around in and your neighbors were filming that private space you wouldn't see the moral issue there? It's basic etiquette, I guess some people just can't comprehend minding their own fucking business though. Don't give me that "55 year and up neighborhood" bullshit either. They're in the wrong and so are you.

@unogazzy84 not my problem if he can't afford it. Should live in a 500K house if you can't afford a $1200 fence. This would be the case if it was just people staring and watching them or cameras.

@@TheDomZilla But it is your problem since it's your cameras that might be filming them. Not sure if it is illegal or not but it should be. It is also common courtesy to not film someone on their property without consent unless you need to do it.
