Blink Video Doorbell Review and Demo

Price on Amazon: amzn.to/3e0kGo0
The Blink video doorbell is a super low cost video doorbell that provides a fairly good picture and the ability for motion alerts and two-way conversation. Definitely a must-buy if you're already on the Blink system!

Hi there, I’m wondering if the doorbell is engaged with wire, do I still need to put in the AA batteries? Cus I just now wired my blink doorbell and without AA Batteries, but the doorbell doesn’t work…

I think it still needs the batteries. I wired mine and still left the included batteries installed. I got a message in the app that it said it was running off wired power, and if I remembered correctly also something about charging the batteries (even though they're not technically rechargeable).

So when this is wired to your existing doorbell when button is pressed your chimes inside the house will work? I was told multiple times by a blink rep that it won’t.

Yes, it rings the chimes inside your house if you hook it up to your existing doorbell wiring. Not sure why that Blink rep was so incompetent - their website says it is compatible with with a chime transformer rated from 16-24 volts AC, at 50-60Hz and 40 V max, which is standard in North America. support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/blink-video-doorbell/blink-video-doorbell-faq

I'd contact customer service or return it if they can't help you. If it broke during normal installation handling, I'd say it's a defective product.

The batteries should last waaaaay longer than a week or two, especially if it's corded. I've had mine for about 2 months running on wired power with the batteries installed, and it still says they're good. And I just replaced the batteries for the first time on my Blink Outdoor camera after two YEARS of runtime - and that one is running completely on battery power. Are you using lithium ion batteries with it? Regular alkaline won't provide enough performance. I'd contact Amazon if you've been using lithium ion batteries with it - sounds like it might be defective.

@@doresoomproductreviews When i usted the lithium ones they lasted a week and i changed to alkaline because they were the ones i had at hand. I've been thinking that the reason for the batteries running out so quickly could be due to me having the moving sensor on at all times, do you think that could be a reason? Thank you so much for taking time to reply to my comment

The alkaline batteries are definitely part of the problem, but I'm surprised the initial lithium ion ones didn't last more than a few weeks. I don't think it's high notification rate alone either. With my Blink Outdoor camera, I probably have 10+ notifications a day, so that was likely 7000+ notifications prior to the batteries needing to be replaced. The doorbell might have a slightly different power draw, but I'd expect it to be similar. Does the app say it's on "External Power" since you have it wired? Mine gave me a message during setup that it was compatible with the voltage from my doorbell wiring when I installed it. Blink support says it will work with 16 - 24 Volts AC, at 50 - 60 Hz.

It should - the doorbell basically behaves like another Blink camera in the app, just with an added ability to work as a doorbell too.
