I will say that this IS NOT “LAZY”. This is Genius!! Only thing better would be a radio controlled mower. What makes it genius is the safety level is drastically increased. I live on a hill side, not as steep as this hill I might add. The lake is at the bottom. My Father and Grandfather both turned mowers over, multiple times on this property, both of them were very skilled drivers,especially with farm equipment. The first time that two wheels volunteered to leave the ground with me on it, I gave away the mower and started hiring the job out to someone with specialized equipment. My next mower will be one of the new robot remote control types. I don’t ever want to end up underneath a mower, let alone underneath a mower and underwater. I give props to that gentleman!!
@Sahadi420
3 жыл бұрын
Not to mention, there is no "digging in for traction" when you do it like this. Sure, you could walk that mower up...with every step you take leaving a divot!!! Good luck if there is any moisture on the grass!! I have a smaller hill (6ish ft high)....so I just stay at the bottom, and "mower press" the mower up the hill, and let it come down with gravity. I use the top of the curb to push from, so the grass never gets "abused" while mowing.
@thetractorden8890
3 жыл бұрын
@@Sahadi420 When using a push-mower, I am more concerned with losing my traction and sliding under the deck or if I am down hill from the mower, it running over me. Either of these are not a place that I would want to end up. Mowing across the hill is just as easily as dangerous. I purchased a really nice self propelled mower after giving away my riding mower (that had been rolled close to half a dozen times.) I used it once. I actually believe that was the last time that I personally mowed this yard. Working on landscaping now to help reduce the amount of mowing that needs to be performed especially in the steeper areas.

Use to have a guy who added a o-bolt to the left front wheel of his 18hp ride on crapsman tractor. In the center of his lot he added a 4” diameter anchor that had cable attached to it and the front wheel. So as it would drive the cable would wrap around the anchor and he could sit on his lounge chair as the mower went around in circles, ingenious and terrifying ☺️
@patklemmensen1694

that would be fine, if he wanted a concentric path mowed in; the cable would be getting shorter as it wound around the pipe, rather than a pre-measured amount for each circle travelled...

I like to picture a younger version of this man excitedly ordering his entire property to be covered in grass and having immediate regrets the first time he had to mow. He struggled for years up the hill before he caved and bought a riding mower, but the riding mower almost tipped over constantly and struggled up the slope. As the man got older and wiser he decided a combination of both mowers and a pulley was the only way he could continue living with his lush lawn that his neighbors envy. Sure he could have just put steps in and filled them with rock, but that's what Jerry did two houses over and that guys an asshole with his boat and his hot young wife.

It's always a pleasure to watch the engineer come out of him when he figures out how to make things easier on the farm.

@Sahadi420
@thetractorden8890

@@nigelcarren You missed the h in my name. We moved to the UK when I was 14, thus the sails were abandoned. I emigrated to Australia when I was 35. I know a Dutch guy in Western Australia built a full size Dutch style windmill that he lived in. Guess you would need bespoke furniture as the walls taper in as you go up and are also curved. Bit of a headache living in one really. But at least lawn mower man here gets to experience slopes. Aside from the banks built to hold back sea/river water, you don't get slopes in The Netherlands.

Country folk have resources. They can figure out how to make life work easier. Our family has mowed the banks on the farm like that for decades. My cousin even fabricated an old bicycle with two baby seats so he could take his two boys and twin girls on bike rides. The boys riding their own bikes. It's always a pleasure to watch the engineer come out of him when he figures out how to make things easier on the farm.

I bet the winch is run off a hydraulic motor. That lever he's operating on the side of the dash is a hydraulic lift lever on those model Deeres. They have hydraulic couplers on the front for running a snow plow. I bet he plumbed it into the hydraulic system through those snow plow hydraulic couplers.
