Crazy Fast Cars at the Night of Fire Event

The Night of Fire Event at Great Lakes Dragaway always brings out the fastest cars around, and it is the 4th of July Weekend race so they bring a big group of Jet Cars to put on a show. Normally I'm not much of a Jet Car fan but these jet cars are crazy fast doing 5 second quarter mile passes at almost 300 mph. Besides the jets there is Classic Muscle Cars, Gassers, and the Chicago Wise Guys racing group in which cranks out 6 second passes against each other like it is nothing as they compete to see who is the fastest door car of the night
So sit back and enjoy this quarter mile drag racing event at Great Lakes Dragaway in Wisconsin: filmed on July 6th, 2024.

they need to bring this old school back one weekend you race gassers and old-school muscle cars the next weekend you race the new school cars alternate every other weekend who agrees with me

Thank you Tom! BTW, I sure hope the guy in the black ‘Vette never gets in a bad accident. I don’t think that low back seat would do him any favors. 😬. BTW, that belt is pretty cool. Unfortunately there is no way I would ever wear a belt with Government Motors on it! 🤣🤣

Great observation on the seat back and the lack of safety on that. I'm assuming it is that way because the group they race in has period correct cars and choose to race that way. But I will ask the next time I see him. Also that is hilarious about the "Government Motors" reference. I guess I choose to see it as the way they were in the past and not the present. Totally get what you mean though 👍

You're correct Tom on our group not running a high back seat do to keeping the look of the car nostalgic. The current seat back is attached to the crossbar of the rollcage and if you look, my head rests against another diagonal bar attached to the main hoop of the cage. Shoulder harnesses are fixed so they don't have any lateral movement side to side and I also wear a Hans device and keep the harnesses tight.👍

Thanks for that clarification, glad to see you are safe in there. I noticed how tight it is in those old Corvettes, can't be easy getting in and out. I appreciate the opportunity to get the GoPro in your car, I was really happy with the way it turned out.
