Good morning, mine was like this too, I didn't listen to the mechanic who immediately told me it was the head gasket. First I cleaned the entire water circuit then I changed the radiator because it was all encrusted, then I changed the thermostat and the temperature sensor, the car now runs perfectly, saved a lot of money, nothing but the head gasket!! !!!!!!!!!😀😀😀

Ive had 12-13 cars in my life and put around 300,000 miles on each and Ive never had overheading problems or timing belt issues !!!!! Made the mistake of purchasing a used 2010 PT and have replaced cooling fan, radiator, hoses, thermostat, thermostat housing, temp sensor, had system bled and still have overheating issues with one certified Chrysler mechanic telling me some of these engines were good but some were junk. He recommended bleeding the system several times per week and at some point I might get lucky and get all the air out of the engine water pockets. Mechanic said head gasket okay. A few months and three gallons of coolant later I still have the same issue. I think this one will be heading to the junk yard soon. Im told timing belt/water pump replacement at only 175,000 miles will run around $2000 which is a lot more than I paid for the car. I would not have another one of these cars if it were free.

Nice work! My first guess was going to be the fan relay, had many go bad on my 02 Town and Country, never had a fan go bad though. Thanks!

We have a LTD 2008 Turbo well maintained . We purchased with 20 k miles in 2010. Has been an excellent car and will keep it forever. Looking at this I would say half/$$$ maintained. I problem ,motor mounts wore out ,shakes the battery cables loose, once a month will lose all electric in the most awkward places, could not find the problem. Finally a well known mechanic spotted it. Fixed!

The cheapest easiest way is buy a block test kit from the parts store, it’s a chemical test you can do with the radiator fumes, it’s really easy

Fyi I just did a timing belt last week on my 2005 PT cruser it was having overheating issues also so to the point here... if you ever change the thermostat be careful not to over torque the bolts. I discovered that another mechanic had done so and put a helicoil which resulted in me having to put another helicoil because his didn't hold up to me tightening the bolts possibly too much as well. ... lesson learned go easy on the thermostat bolts I forgot the torque spec but do look it up. But anyway my cooling issues was thermostat. Doing timing belt was a nightmare on this vehicle too but I got it done.

You are absolutely wrong ! We have over 300,000 on ours. It was my wife's car first, I bought it because we just had another daughter. Since then my first daughter drove the heck out of it and now the daughter that prompted us to get the PT is 19 and driving it now. Nothing but two radiator fans over the years, no we did have the belts and plugs changed one time one . Great transportation.
