Land of Oz actually opens for 3 weekends in September every year and usually some in the summer as well. It’s maintained year round so it’s actually a myth that it’s abandoned

I didn't think Hobbiton was abandoned.. I grew up a few towns north of Phillipsville. When I was in preschool our teacher read us all "The Hobbit" over the course of several months and then as a treat when the book was finished we all piled in the van and took a trip to Hobbiton. This would have been around 1998. I remember that back then all of the dioramas had a plaque near them with a button, and when you pressed the button a recording of an excerpt from the book relating to the scene would play. It was so cool to all us little kids seeing the story come to life like that. Plus we got ice cream at the little burger stand that was nearby. I'll remember that day for the rest of my life.

The Land of Oz will also be doing new shows and adding even more June 2023! It's NOT ABANDONED at all actually. They do 3 weekends where they immerse you into the Land of Oz. Lots of love from Michigan ❤️

Yeah friends of mine went a couple months ago, it’s not abandoned at all

I loved the animated version of LOTR! If anyone saw that, remember the song “Where there’s a whip there’s a way” 😂 my brother and I always sang that when our mom asked us to do chores for weeks after watching the cartoon

I was born and raised in SC and me and my best friend also did that kind of stuff, going in the woods and just finding random stuff, random buildings and just explore. Good memories!!

Mythical should definitely do some sort of themed attraction or park! I know that’s sort of what MythiCon was but something that’s permanent would be cool. They definitely have enough of a following to maintain visitors!

No disrespect to them, but it costs a ton to run a theme park and they do big, big business. Even something not as known, like a Carowinds in the Carolinas, are seeing about 2 million visitors a year. Disney World resort gets around 58 million a year. Not many people could attract that kind of following. Only "celebrity" from past or present that has anything close to a theme park for the public is Graceland, which gets around half a million visitors a year. That property is still expensive to maintain, but wouldn't even put a blip on the radar for how much it would cost to maintain a theme park. Love GMM, but no way they could successfully run a year round theme park where they are the entire theme.

I actually just recently went to The Land of Oz. It was such a cool thing to experience!

The Holy Land Experience as opposed to just The Holy Land exists in Orlando and is definitely not abandoned

having lived in korea and knowing about all the 'weird' themed parks i was surprised when they implied the cheese park had been abandoned since i last heard about it (the male genitals themed park in korea is the best one but i guess they have to save it for good mythical evening)

I live a handful of minutes away from Phillipsville, CA. I’ve been to the remnants of “Hobbiton” once.

I think there was a holy land in Orlando Fl too, I kinda recall seeing it as a kid haha.

There is a place in Tacoma, Wa located in the woods of Pt. Defiance Park called Never Never Land. It was an integrated children's storybook land with characters in the woods. It has since been shut down and most of the sculptures removed, let alone the fire that happened and burned a good portion of the figures held in storage. However there are still some remains left in the trails around where it used to be.

Fundie Fridays did a video about holy land, its on like a hill and actually not that small if i remember correctly and they had several versions of that giant cross, some of them even lit up

I actually just went to Holy Land! It is in mini, the crosses are huge. Great views in the fall though

I thought that's the one they were talking about. It was called The Holy land Experience. It was in Orlando and some of my nephews went there and said it wasn't very fun.

Unless I’m very much mistaken, the place Rhett mentioned where it’s a little town in someone’s yard is like 20 minutes from my house. It’s called Shangri-La Stone Village, in a little spot in the road called Prospect Hill. I’m just in shock that he was literally in my county and had to have driven very close by my house to get there. That’s wild.
