I’ve been taking suboxone for years now because once I was off of opiates I still had chronic pain and the suboxone works really well and allows me to function, like work and do physical activity etc. I have a specialized doctor and I still have to check in once a month but for the most part I use it more like a regular pain medication than it’s primary intended purpose. (I know some people don’t agree with this but I work very closely with my doctors and they’ve all agreed it works for me) I cannot for the life of me understand how someone could or would abuse it, I know people do but I take mine normally and the only purpose it serves is pain relief, I feel no other effects from it, and that’s coming from someone who used to take regular opiates and is an addict (5 years sober)

All my life I've only slept a few hours a night and now on days off I sleep 10-12 hours! I'm curious if you have the same reaction? I'm ok with it now because I am making up for years of too little sleep, but I feel like I'm sleeping my life away. I do have great vivid dreams though.

when prescribed suboxone you are counseled and advised EXTENSIVELY on when and how to initiate the regimen specifically advised to be WITH responsible and reliable people like family or medical. your told NOT to operate machinery or be in any position of responsibility u til you know the impacts and reactions of the medication. suboxone is a wonderful medication for assisting detox from opiates but is NOT to be abused or taken lightly….there is NO high and will cause precipitated withdrawal

It wasn't legislation that caused drug problems. It sped things up, but is only an accelerant, not a cause. It does not matter how easy or legal a drug like fentanyl is, people like you and I are not interested. Failing parents, failing communities, and failing cultures, need to dealt with before drug use can be reduced to an acceptable level. Enforcement of drug laws is only step one. And while it helps mitigate the harm, it does nothing to prevent the cause. Drug laws can be a partially effective obstacle to addicts, but it has always failed as a deterrent. Reopening asylums, by itself, would do more to help the drug problem than any amount of criminalization. I support drug laws, but by themselves they are no solution.
