Crawler Canyon Presents: MST CMX Rev.1-- still adorable, but now with actual FUN®

Фильм және анимация

Sure, all of the RTR electronics are junk. That's how it usually goes. But the list of parts that MUST be replaced... pretty short.

Man not to sound like a drisotope fan boy but your videos are the best to watch/listen to while I wrench on my rigs!! Awesome content!! I’m also way jealous of the playground you’ve made for yourself!

I trimmed the OD of the foams in my ECTO to 95mm and the stock RTR tires work much better now. Loving this project...and the Vanimal!

Really enjoying your projects, and this one has been fun to see put through its paces. Each time getting a little more refined. I also thought you already had named it 😆. In one of the previous videos you had said this Lil Fella, and I was thinking you were going to have Lil Yella and Lil Fella. Your cat seems to like this one too, her name is Gigi? Maybe Gigi and George the Jimny? No offense taken if these aren't winners 😂

cool video Maybe a few mm longer links, it looks like the wheelbase could be a bit longer for that chassis?

I'm considering pushing the front axle out maybe 3-4mm, which I think might limit the rubbing at full lock. I mean, I might find the perfect set of 95-96mm tall tires and it won't be a problem. But I wouldn't be averse to a tiny bit longer wheelbase.

I always use minimum pinion size and add motor until it's fast enough.

The only problem there is the smaller the pinion gets, the worse the mesh gets. That's why you won't see me dropping a 9T into a TRX-4-- a 9T pinion isn't even round, it's a nonagon. I like those perfectly even ratios, like 14/56 or 17/85. At least in my head, I think I can feel the smoothness. If I could get a 64P spur on there, I probably would.

Considering rtr rigs and electronics, was the Gen 8 Axe Edition the best value ever? (Sadly discontinued)

The Lil' Fella is still going strong, and constantly on the hunt for a decent set of tires, which is near to impossible, as anything over about 90mm tall rubs all over the place. The options are slim, so he keeps suffering on some RC4WD MTZs, which are... okay.

I mentioned on you first video of this rig that I ordered an MST CFX ws but canceled the order as AMain has the mst CFX w (in grey) w/ JP1 for $244 and I had a$10 credit. After seeing Blue Sky High I thought it was too cheap to pass up. I have a new ISDT esc, some Landmines and Element Enduro shocks to start. Will the Element Factory drive shafts work with MST? Great video!

Those drievshafts should absolutely fit, the only shafts that have proven to be downright proprietary are TRX-4. I said in there and I'll say right here: I love the MST upgrade driveshafts. They never fall apart. Nice 'n slender. Reasonably priced for all-metal, especially if you think about MIP.

You ain't kiddin. Woulda been easier if they had just dumped loose parts in a sack, like a puzzle. I would have had it up a rock quicker.
