    For what it’s worth, the 1.0 version of this tire which came out about a year ago is still the best tire I’ve ever ran on an SCX24. Obviously they’ve scaled up that performance. What an impressive tire/insert combo!

    Excellent video.. I have a TRX-4 Sport (3 years), with about 1 hour run time on the back lawn.. Weights just a tad under 7 lbs with the stock tires and wheels.. Time to get more serious so I ordered the "green" inserts, along with the "comp pins" and some metal wheels. Also ordered a Fusion SE 1800 kv. and a metal servo on axle adapter.. Gonna try with the stock servo if it needs upgrade then I will get one.. I may also order the under-drive ring and pinion before spring.. Hoping all goes well with some good results.. They are building an indoor crawling facility just down the street so that will be nice during the winter months..

    oh yeah. HOORAY pooch tires is great to see, soft light like always. 17:32 contrast change amazing, into the change to other camera both look better then first part. Pushing towards compy level forward grip :) this rig weight looks like it might actually like soft on rear as well for everything but sidehill. tires/inserts deserving of a light weight rig (sub 5lb portal rig) 1 wide wrap sidewall or both sidewalls and contact patch of poly on a cut soft should fill other tires better.

    It's great to see this much performance out of a combo at any price range, and even better considering the cost. I might be alone here, but if you're getting moist 'cause a pin tire shows the most forward grip I'd just say, "yeah, that's the whole point of them". They are typically reserved for the most capable rigs and are banned by SORRCA except unlimited classes or whatever. Now, if they do the same magic to a non-Injora tire like the Tusk or KLRM, then we're cookin' with gas. Love the content.

    I believe that's one of the hardest pull-ups you could do is if you're really vertical and you got your front tires over a ledge and your rear tires are under ledge it's like the hardest thing to get over not considering the breakover angle also but just the way the tires are setting you're setting perfectly in the wheelbase you know

    Just when you think the insert/tire combination can't get any better, you manage to pull it off. Once again I am really impressed with how these Injora inserts are performing. Dare we ask if it's possible to improve it any further? It's really interesting to see you doing this cut modification to this insert. In the testing I did to develop my own inserts, I hit upon this offset vertical rib design type as well. You get better conformity and better overall ground pressure, much better flexibility and evenness in how the insert and tire work together, assuming there are concentric rings in the insert design, if the vertical ribs are staggered. In some of my testing, I even staggered them across the width of the insert as well, which had an interesting effect of its own. What I discovered, and had a lot of trouble overcoming, is the notching/stepping/ratcheting effect you get with the remaining ribs in the outermost ring of the tire, where they apply uneven ground pressure when the tire slips on hard and uneven obstacles. It exacerbates wheel hop and reduces traction. This is an issue I worked really hard to resolve in my own project. The goal is even ground pressure, good compliance and flexibility with a variable rate of compression, excellent sidewall support and as little sidewall collapse as possible when sidehilling. That's a tall order for any insert. Ultimately I did not use this kind of design in my final prototype, but I did do significant design testing with it before eventually selecting another design. This was a very promising idea, though. it's really exciting to see it working so well in these Injoras.

  • @CrawlerCanyon

    @CrawlerCanyon

    I call that hop the "tuning rod effect," which is only avoidable with 3BRC by... not putting any tuning rods in. My only worry here is that this insert and tire are "too perfect," and the cut blues will do "okay" in anything else. This is why I stick to my homebrew dual stages for most everything, as they fit any tire, work in any conditions, and have no possibility of that notching.

    I tried out this combo over the weekend with a new set of Fusks and blue silicone inserts. They don't fit perfectly as the inserts don't completely fill out the tire. That said, grip and stability are high, but I will have to try trim the inserts as they have a good amount of bounce.

  • @CrawlerCanyon

    @CrawlerCanyon

    7 ай бұрын

    The Rover is such an absolute oddball-- the 1.9 is ridiculously small, and the 2.2 is a beach ball. The number of rigs that either of them are usable on is pretty small. I like tires like the Rover, Rupture, etc. well enough, but generally prefer a tire that I can use on anything. The grip and control out of the Injora combo is truly remarkable for how simple the tire is. I'll get measurements for what rear links you can use. Mine are just borrowed from other rigs (like I"m pretty sure the rear lowers are from a TRX-4 Defender)

    I believe I've read the rear link lengths from the Knight Runner will work since it comes out of the box at 12.8" / 323mm wheelbase. I'd bet the link lengths in the rear are almost perfectly 10mm longer on the Knight Runner when compared to a Sender HD. I've leaned on Element instruction manuals to get link lengths in the past, those might help with exact measurements to order. Alternatively, I think Hardcore RC Links may sell a replacement kit in the 12.8 wheelbase. Might be worth checking and reaching out

    You could actually maybe get up a rock on the uncut inserts and no tires. They'd be firm enough, but I think the silicone would take a real beating from anything abrasive.

    Have you lost any of the pins yet? I’ve only ran these tires twice, all low speed/no beans, and I just noticed I’m already starting to lose a couple pins. As a whole, they seem stout, but apparently individually they can straight up leave the chat pretty easily.

    If someone hasn’t already said it, put them in the new Trepadors that you already tested?

  • @CrawlerCanyon

    Oh, they would absolutely rattle around in the Trepadors. Probably 5-6mm too short and 8-10mm too narrow. The Treps will be getting a new insert, I just can't imagine it being these.

    Audio de-sync. For whatever reason, every time a clip gets cropped or moved, the audio from one source moves about 4 frames out of sync from the other source. If you guys want to send over an editor, I'm all for it. Or, I can stop doing multiple cameras and the problem solves itself.

    In a video with a 36m56s runtime, there is a total of 1m15.4s of audio slightly de-sync'd (usually 4ms, due to the two microphones being apparently being that far apart.) If everyone is bothered by it, I can go back to single camera and the problem is solved.

    Not sure why you took out the inner ribbing, there is a reason dual stage foams has a closed inner cell... removing the inner ribs will make it perform like stock, your front grip is not that good. what works is the cheat pin type tires your using.
