LYRICS
In early takes
The ones not ever heard
We keep the bleeding road
A sound that we know for sure
Each passing street light sunrise and sunset
The endless reachable
The closer we get
Both front seats full
Straight for the non-exist
Meant to be doing this
Crash the car through the stars
Burning in yellow glow
Floor it and don't let go
Crash the car through the stars
Running the reds of should and should not do
The sirens fade away
Now nothing can change this view
The ride shakes violently, hold tight to beliefs
What's never been before is where we want to be
Hearts and seats full
Straight for the non-exist
Meant to be doing this
Crash the car through the stars
Burning in yellow glow
Floor it and don't let go
Crash the car through the stars
Yeah always knew
Crashing through
Yeah now it's true
Crashing through
Straight for the non-exist
Meant to be doing this
Crash the car through the stars
Burning in yellow glow
Floor it and don't let go
Crash the car through the stars

@@Jimd905 Are you genuinely perplexed because you can't fathom anyone being affected so positively by this particular piece of music, simply because you don't feel the same way about it? I mean, surely you can relate, as far as knowing what it feels like when a piece of music does resonate with you so strongly, no? Obviously, what it is that gets one person off, may be something vastly different than what gets someone else off, but the outcome and feeling is universal. Anyway, moral of the story, you're not "missing" anything, this song just isn't your jam, and that's perfectly fine. Peace.. DC

Some of her other performances are outstanding also but yea, I I think this tune really suites her vocal style and I am impressed with the tune and performance. I have a bit of trouble getting used to the boxy sounding drums but all this is brilliant considering this is garage and bedroom production. BTW.. I can't help think that Janet Jackson was a big influence on GA in childhood. Very similar style in my opinion. Loving Knowers continued success and music making.

Hey KNOWER - 5th grade science teacher here, love your music When my kids had finals last year, I gave a pump up speech to each class and used this song as an "emphasizer" :)) My pump up basically consisted of me encouraging the kiddos to push through even when they doubt themself, crash the car through that wall! Extremely proud to say they scored the highest in my charter network for 5th grade science finals!! Your music has always been a grounding sound while I plan through lessons. I constantly come back to this song when I have a day where my lesson doesn't go as I planned. This song reminds me that sometimes, you crash and burn and sometimes you crash through the non-exist.

This is a very challenging vocal performance executed brilliantly. These chord progs and modulations are very difficult and sound awful if not nailed. The mix is fire. The strings and horns and of course drums are dripping with the right amount of lo-fi analog juiciness. And the vocals are properly bright and full. Next level Grammy material.

Ok so this will be long, but whatever. So, i enjoy all the knower songs, but i Love this song, because it has outgrown the knower songwriting formula. Not that they sound the same, but its so easy to stay in a lane. To all those that say, "this tempo sucks" or " not funkky enough" let me tell you something. You have no idea how hard it is to play with restraint and meaning. Anyone can spray a flurry of notes and shred, but to play with s p a c e takes extreme skill. There is no missing or excess parts here, this is as close to perfect you can get. Music is about decorating silence, and what you dont play, and this is it! Its the modern "here comes the sun" sure it sounds simple, but start counting "here comes the sun" and identifying parts, its really crazily written. Ive got this on loop all day, and its really sinking in, and actually is the only piece of music, if anything, that can pierce this shell i wear. Thank you!

And I’m not even sure how to describe “Do Hot Girls Like Chords”. It’s almost metal. With a legit guitar solo. There’s also what sounds like an actual Clown Core track with Genevieve singing on it. I definitely hope those first two have video. It seems like the whole thing was recorded like this.

Ok I've listened to this a dozen times now and it's amazing. The whole album is great from beginning to end, and I especially like "Do hot girls like chords" but this is probably the very best song on the album. I love how it switches styles as it progresses. I thought they were about to do some We are the World type shit for a minute, then they went 90s R&B, then they went Earth Wind and Fire, and then they went Steely Dan at the end. Speaking of Steely Dan, these lyrics, it's almost like their own Deacon Blues. It sounds autobiographical about the frustration of trying to express yourself with your music and being misunderstood and ignored, so you decide to just mash your foot on the gas and "die behind the wheel," metaphorically speaking. Wow, I wasn't expecting a cry-fest. Brilliant song, not only the best KNOWER song I've heard, but perhaps one of the best songs I've ever heard. Bravo!

Maybe "what Deacon Blues would have been if its protagonist was sincere rather than just fantasizing/expressing frustration caused by his middle-age crisis", at least the way I understand Dan there. In a way it is both a reference/nod and a strong contrast. In any case, if your music is compared to Steely Dan, I'd say you're doing quite well as a musician/band 🙂And there's a lot to compare, the arcane writing, flawless performance by great musicians and the overall attention to detail. And I'm by no means a Knower fan - this is just a very good song in so many ways.

  • @Cedric_Harris

    @Cedric_Harris

    Жыл бұрын

@@kfoltman I don't think the protagonist in Deacon Blues is insincere. And I'm not sure if it's clear they're fantasizing, or really living that life... but I could be mistaken. I feel like Crash the Car is more optimistic, while Deacon Blues is more resigned to fail. Crash the Car, seems to have accepted the likelihood of failure, but is committed to at least going out with a bang. When I hear "crash the car through the stars" I'm imagining figuratively crashing the car through popstars, not outer space... But both songs mention car crashes and address death and music. I dunno, perhaps I'm making connections where they don't exist.

  • @kfoltman

    @kfoltman

    Жыл бұрын

@@Cedric_Harris No, I think your reading makes a lot of sense. Both the optimistic aspect (sort of like "live forever or die trying") and "stars" referring to pop stars or perhaps breaking out to the mainstream, by putting in the maximum effort. Actual result (however you interpret it) rather than just Deacon's pointless "dying behind the wheel" (supposedly in figurative sense, dying poor but at least feeling in control). But for me, the Deacon Blues guy seems to see the musician's life primarily for the bohemian lifestyle, as if he thought he'd one day just quit his job and start playing sax straight from his heart, without spending a thought on the fact that it is a skill that takes years to learn, and there may be some clues he hasn't even started while still being in position to do it. He may well be sincere in a way and hating his middle-class life, but perhaps too native about what it is like to be a full-time musician. Of course, it's lyrics interpretation, never an exact science 🙂
