How much time are you really saving swapping lanes?, I don't, I stay in 1 as long as I can, what I see is a bunch of ppl swapping. It takes so much effort, and now you're what? An another car length (at best!) of where you were 2 seconds ago and 3 seconds later that car you were in front of, is now ahead of you. AWESOME!

@@taylor.... exactly. I don't switch. And most often, all the Dicks are waving their testosterone around in the "fast lane", and mommies and other special idiots fill up the centre lane. So I stick to the "slow lane" with the trucks. I'm grateful to have very fancy radar guided cruise control. So I just switch it on, and my car keeps me a safe distance from trucks even braking to a dead stop and resuming then. It's much more relaxing and funny to watch all the Dicks in a hurry fall behind

It's called society. You trust chemical companies not to make poisonous pesticides. You trust farmers to not water their crops with polluted water. You trust policemen to keep roads free of highwaymen. You trust grocery stores not to tamper with the food that is in stock. The list goes on, and this is just for food. If you live in a city, then your weekly survival hinges on hundreds of people being both competent and honest.

It's definitely worth regular mirror checks to know what's behind you, it can save you and your passengers lives, you can't slam on the brakes with a large vehicle behind you Learn to also check your mirrors before slamming the brakes on If an animal runs out infront of your car its instinct to slam the brakes on to avoid it but eventually with experience you can legit check your mirror at the same time as slamming the brakes and if there is a semi right behind you, Off the brakes and back on the accelerator and drive right through that animal.. If it means you and your passengers live, it has to be done..

If you were paying attention you could see that the truck coming up behind you was going too fast to be able to stop. This is the same skill as when making a turn. Assessing how fast other vehicles are coming towards you and making the turn when you see a large enough gap in traffic, relative to how fast or slow vehicles are traveling in the lane you need to be in. Edit: This video shows very little other than the crash, very little time to react and no place to go. If stopped in any situation like this, behind a large truck or not, you leave a gap between you and the next vehicle and watch your surroundings. This gives you the room to move if needed.
