Mate, you're saying that the key learning was to "...be smoother!" Your key learning should have been to focus 100% on what you're doing, not talking to the camera and taking your eyes off the circuit.

Aw, man, my stomach dropped when you spun out, Mike. I'm glad you had the v-box thing and a training day, though. It's funny how different spinning out and hitting a barrier is in a computer game vs. real life. In a game, it's a minor annoyance or no big deal; in real life, that's possible injuries and hundreds or thousands of dollars in repairs... I may not understand all the car/racing terms, but I eagerly await the next episode of this!

So my advice: Get a simulator and something like Iracing or assetto corsa and get a lot of seat time in a variety of cars/tracks. It will help give you an understanding of the weight transfer over different crests bumps, etc and it's a hell of a lot cheaper to make mistakes with. Don't lose confidence! Seriously everybody makes mistakes! Trying to film and talk to camera in first session on track must've been overwhelming. If you look over your data, use simulators to learn the basics of handling, braking (and also gearbox use, I saw from one of the on boards at Blyton you locked the rears with no rev match), and then it's just a matter of gaining real life experience in your car getting to know it's quirks and how to set it up best. Good luck

I spent a day at Castle Combe driving the G40 under the constant scrutiny of a race instructor. As a complete novice the car felt incredibly 'raw' but hugely rewarding too. I managed not to crash and felt over the course of the day I had improved significantly. I asked the instructor to take me for 5-6 hot laps at the end of the day and was utterly amazed at how this guy was ringing the car's neck (and by comparison how rubbish I was). He had the car absolutely on the limit the whole time and the smell of tyres and brakes filled the cabin. Thrilling is all I can say!

Reminds me of what I was told on my first time competing at Castle Combe. "if you lift on Avon Rise you will hear two things. The first is the sound of physics laughing at you...the second is the accident". Physics had a chuckle at 1:28 and was pissing itself at 1:30. Rough way to learn, but the barriers at that corner have a history of trashing cars

When I was at castle Combe May Day Madness (I believe in 2017) there were many experienced drivers spinning on the crest. It was about the only place people actually spun/crashed. There was a white formula Ford car that spun onto the inside, and in a separate race a civic spun into another into the inside. Although, in the peugeot races a grey peugeot lost it and crashed into the same wall you did, just slightly later on, and unluckily head on. Pretty sure the car was totalled. There’s a video somewhere and if you look hard enough you can see me, my friend and both our dads in the background. kzread.info/dash/bejne/k2t4w8GsetPXkrg.html

If you're finding 8 seconds in a lap between sessions, then analyzing your data is a bit of a fools errand. Data analysis can be useful as a learning tool, but what this guy really needs is a small reality check. If you're new to racing, then have realistic expectations. No one walks into this sport with any skills to improve on, because they have yet to develop any skills. Saying things like "I know I'm not an amazing driver" is doublespeak for "I might not be the best, but I'm not bad either". Park the car, go buy a go kart (which is quicker and harder to drive anyway), find some people who know what they're doing, and run with them. You'll learn more, have more fun, spend less money, and become a better driver.
