That was the great missed opportunity back in the 20teens when Matt Smith was leaving. Ferguson was finishing up with CBS and was obviously offering himself to return to Scotland with all the Who references and tributes on his talk show. Instead they cast his old punk bandmate Peter Capaldi. He was OK but Ferguson could have better continued the eccentric nature of the last three young Doctors...into an older character without making it so severe. Who interest wained worldwude with Capaldi, then down the toilet...same thing happened in the 80s with Colin Baker then the next incarnation was even less interesting. I wonder if BBC said NO because CF had lampooned the Royal Family so much, especially the once and future King.

Just the look of excitement in Craig's face after Matt Smith walks out, like "Look! I got the Doctor! Amazing, right?" He really loves that show.

If we could only go back in time, find the person who failed to get the music clearances for this cold open, and fire them all over again.

I remember watching this episode and being so bummed I couldnt see this musical bit. 12 years later I am finally satisfied 😌

If Craig ever becomes the Doctor on Doctor Who this should be his theme (or the intro for when he went to Scotland)

When I first saw this, I had no idea what Doctor Who is. I had had no idea that the man who came in at the end was so awesome. Thank goodness I do now.

Brilliant! I've been trying to figure out why he isn't given more credit. His shows are actually worth watching. He's funny, has a great report with his guests, and can hold his own with the best of them. And the fact that he did the first ever Doctor Who themed show just earned him tons of bonus points. Love it!

That was the BEST opening for this show that I have ever seen!!!!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE ENDING!!!!!!

Not just a US Who fan, but a Who fan from way back. Tom Baker and the Ark in Space (ripped off by Alien) hooked me for life. So glad the revival caught fire, and Matt Smith is awesome so far.

I was so lucky to be one of the very few in the studio audience!

Wish I could have seen that episode. Loved the line "He's like Dr. Phil, but awesome."

This didn't air on that episode anyway, hence the bit about it being "lost". They got word five minutes before the show that they couldn't get the rights for the Doctor Who theme and had to pull it. It did later air for the episode with Alex Kingston episode though.

I miss Craig Ferguson doing late night, and I would have loved for him to be in a Capaldi episode of Doctor Who. In another timeline...

I miss Craig... he should have done Dr. Who as a sidekick, if he couldn't have been the master himself ! I'm almost 35 and been watching Doctor Who for many years..it has been on in the US for as long as I can remember..PBS on Sundays when I was a kid.
