Thanks! I have the DYT 4000 but everything was the same. The best thing about what you did was say what size each bolt was. Saves so much tine trying to figure out what size they are. I didn't have to repair my tank but had to replace the cracked fuel line, which requires removing the tank.

My LT2000 that I bought in 2003 has a gas leak too and I've been searching You Tube to find out how to remove the fender to get to the gas tank. Finally, yours is the first one that actually shows how to do it. Hopefully it is the same as the DLT3000. I'm also hoping the fuel line just needs replacing and not a leak in the tank.

I have a KZread short video on my craftsman plastic tank replacement. What I did was scrap the plastic tank and I built a steel tank that now holds 1.7 gallon. I also replaced the entire fuel line at the same time.

I worked as a Sears lawn tractor tech for one summer. The grip handle WILL unscrew, just has some kind of Loctite on it. With the grip off, the shaft will slide right out of the body opening. No need to remove the shifter housing.

I have never repaired that large of a hole, however look into actual plastic welding, it can be done, but you need the proper materials/equipment.. or start searching for a used one.

FYI everyone this happens because the tank swells with pressure in the summer heat and causes it to split. A vented gas cap will help prevent this from happening

I had to replace the fuel line, I am mechanically declined but was hoping someone on here could help. There is a piece that fits into the bottom of the tank that you connect the fuel line to, that little piece came out, I connected the new fuel line to it but for the life of me can not push that piece back into the tank. Any suggestions?

You can save yourself a ton of time, and cost, by fitting an an external gas can, such as used 5-liter oil jug, and running fuel line to it, instead of the original gas tank.

That is certainly an option, had the tank been seriously cracked I would have rigged something up, even one of those atv or motorcycle mountable spare gas tanks… slap it right on the tractor hood… 😂 or on the side etc.. good comment and hopefully someone will take note.

Fill tank, if it still leaks you failed doing the repair… if it does not leak without the jb weld then success… and firm the area up with it…
