I’m doing my first ever mechanic work it’s on a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 with the in-line 6 4.0 liter think I said that right so far I replaced the thermostat radiator hoses water pump and fan clutch have it torn down for the head gasket to be done now
Great production quality. Hey- it looks like the Crankshaft position is RIGHT THERE when you take this thing out, so it's probably a good time to swap that out if yours is old
Man, miss these guys. Great collection of XJ vids for the tube though.
You guys are crazy, every time i need a laugh I watch one of your vids. Love them, ooyeaaa, I learn alot also. Keep up the good job guys.
Hey!! Great video, great tips. Got one I'd like to share: I learned real quick to bolt the manifold down to a 1/4" piece of plate steel to avoid warping. Use your gasket as a template. You guys rock! Thanks for all your videos!!
You guys make such entertaining videos. My manifold doesn't even leak, still great to watch!

Do you guys have any videos or recommendations where to look for taking off a 94 jeep wrangler 2.5l exhaust my intake look a bit different than yours
ok guys on the Walker gasket and studs, did you replace those with regular bolts? You guys should do a video on replacing that front pipe to the exhaust manifold! There's no any good ones out yet! Enjoyed the vid as always!😎👊
Man, you guys are like the Beevis and Butthead of the motorized vehicle world, with less profanity, and a lot more PBR.....suuuubbedddd
Could you reach ALL the bottom bolts with the extension from the top ? or did you have go underneath to get a few ? Thanks
Really appreciate the video. Did you guys run into any issues getting the bolts out of the head? I'm afraid I'll have to cut the ones near collector flange.
Ya'll so ROCK!!!!
Man you guys are funny
Great video, I was about to shit my pants when I thought it was just about buying an expensive header, good one guys!!
APN header? Might end up doing just this. Since mine is leaking from the same points. Love how you guys just twirled the intake on top of the valve cover, saves time with disconnecting the injectors!

Apparently PBR is the universal language
On my XJ the collector bolts are on super tight and I live in Pennsylvania so there is probably 5 inches of rust on it. Have any tips?
Did you guys flux core weld it or use gas? I’ve heard flux core was good for fixing cracks giving the weld more flexibility so it won’t crack in the same spot so to say, but idk if flux or gas would be better on exhaust. What’d you guys do or have any tips or tricks?
Jeeeejjjj a new video thanks guys always fun to wach I have seen a limited slip diff in the front axel of a volvo 740/240 something for you guys to try ? Keep up the good work 👍

Hey fellas, just bought a 2000 grand cherokee laredo. Will this header fit? Cant seem to find one for this model. Thx
How you like welding in those miller gloves? I have a pair but im skeptical
Hey guys I may have 2 do this. Fan does not come on so white smoke comes from radiator, coolant over flow tank is full and full when i open the thermostat (where i can put water if need be). but I do have faint white smoke from tail pipe. How can I test to see if It is a head gasket I need. I saw ur video on this. U guys are great!! a girl fixing alone. will try .
Any suggestions on how to get the 2 manifold bolts out of the bottom side of #4 and #5? On my 2001 XJ there are 2 catalytic converters in the way.
@bobboo9871

Use a stubby ratchet and a 2 in extension stand on a milk crate and you can get your arm in between the manifold and block from the front as long as the power steerimg pump has been removed I know this was an old post but incase others are reading with the same problem I posted an answer anyway
Excelente video de que año es su jeep xj?

Hey brother I tackled this task all alone and with that I also changed the head gasket. Everything was done to bolt pattern and torque specs. Now when I crank it up it revs up to 5000 rpms. Any insight on what could be the issue

great videos keep them up. how could you tell you needed to repair the manifold? could you here it or was there a loss of power? I have a 95 yj and there seams to be a tick I cant tell if it is a cracked manifold or a bad lifter. it goes away after fully warmed up.

@OFFAxisBuilds

i think i might have something similar mine is really loud when i start it and the noise stays loud until it warms up. it almost sounds like a valve tap, but it goes away after it warms up. does this sound like a manifold issue?
@PabstBoys
7 жыл бұрын
Crane 2005 it does. I see the same thing on ford trucks, where an exhaust manifold stud will snap off and have the same symptoms. It's really common for them.

what would happen if you never fixed your cracked exhaust manifold?
@100ghillie
6 жыл бұрын
the cold air being sucked into those cracks is said to, over time cause warping of the head, but that's just what a few people have told me, it could be an old wives tale.
@mitchellabbott7919
6 жыл бұрын
It'll kill gas mileage and also could get into the vehicle and you'll be breathing in carbon monoxide
@DD_Dietriech

Pretty sure Mitchell is right about the CO. Knowing the effects of CO poisoning I know that the cracks on my manifold I am getting poisoned. Now that it's winter and I can't keep the windows down I'm gonna have to fix it...
@xmo552
4 жыл бұрын
@@mitchellabbott7919 You're correct. And, add to that list it may trigger the engine light and fail emissions testing.
How long did it take ? and why do they crack ? Thanks guys
@fredir3596
6 жыл бұрын
Tony Saprano mine did the same thing. My mechanic friend said that it’s the weight of the exhaust fatigues the manifold over time. He says that once it cracks, it’s in a better position. When the cracks are welded, it’s in a better position with less stress. Or something like that. He wasn’t allowed to weld a customer’s manifold so he’d weld the broken ones and install them for friends when theirs cracked.
@xmo552
4 жыл бұрын
Weight. Heat cycles . Exhaust taking a bump. Different engine and trans mounts. No exhaust flex. Etc
I think there's a misprint on the torque pattern display you used. I believe the spec for bolts 6 and 7 are 23 N.m (17 ft. lbs), not 23 ft. lbs. I'm by no means an expert, so I could be wrong.
@PabstBoys
8 жыл бұрын
+JonDinCT This is from a service manual, so if it's a typo, all us mechanics have been doin' it wrong for years... But to be honest, the difference between 17flbs and 23flbs on a steel head is negligible. Thanks for the comment though.
