Crabbing from a 7 foot boat (Seabeck Bay, Hood Canal)

Спорт

I got a new old boat and try it out the last day of summer crabbing season. The Livingston dinghy is a staple of the PNW. With its dual hull, its incredibly stable!

What a blast. Blake takes essentially a kid's wading pool and turns it into a crab slaying machine!😅 Seriously though, I like the ring traps with the Livingston. Low profile and you don't have to do a lot of leaning over when pulling them.

Hey Matt! Cool that you get to live in such a beautiful place! I have a project boat I'm working on. 15 footer. Hopefully it's up and running by spring.

@@WAFishQuest awesome, can't wait to see the finished product. It looks like we fish the same areas so there's always an extra seat on my boat if you need to get your fix in!

Hey Blake, quick question, as thar boats of its smaller stature, what's the registration process like? I just sold my 17' Bayliner to look for a smaller 9-10' alum boat and I'm wondering what the requirements are.

Congrats on selling the boat! So long as the motor is under 10 hp, there really aren't any. You don't have to license a boat that small. It's non-titled, just like owning a paddle kayak. I think you technically could if you felt like it, but there is no requirement to do so. As a vessel, I think you do need all the standard safety stuff though (like flares, sound making device). But I could even be wrong about that. Thanks for watching!

I hear you Bo. I had a lot of good memories in that boat! I wish the hull was a mm or two thicker tho.
