COYOTE SIGHTING right outside the sheep barn!!! Vlog 222

My worst nightmare is seeing a coyote anywhere near my sheep!
First thing this morning, while my eyes were adjusting to this winter weather, I noticed a huge coyote right outside the barn (and INSIDE) the pasture where my cows were only a couple weeks ago!!
Updates on the Sandi vs Birds and nesting in my garage door chain... DID MY STICKY TAPE WORK?
And another update on the lambs you all saw being born last month!
#coyotes #sheep #sheepbarn
THANKS SO MUCH FOR WATCHING!!!
I FINALLY HAVE MERCH!

I am sure your husband would have a few choice words for you as well. I agree about the guardian dogs. They are truly amazing. I would gladly contribute to help you get one. That would be one less worry on your part. They live with the herd and are so loving to their owners. Everyone that I know who has one feeds them when they feed the herds. Take care and no more climbing barn doors. Blessings!

Coyotes can easily get over an 8-foot block wall, chain link, etc., I've seen it here in Arizona so they can definitely scale over any type of fence 😭 You can put coyote rollers on top of your fencing but it looks like your fencing is pretty short where they might not even touch the top they'll just leap right over.

We have nightly visits from hundreds of coyotes that descend from the mountains at sundown to stalk our animals and howl. We have seen literally hundreds of them nightly. We installed rigid welded wire panels around every pasture. Welded steel gates, motion sensor spotlights, double barrier electric mesh borders, video cameras and loudspeakers to blast predator calls at them. Our sheep take it all in stride and ignore them as they sleep in the pasture. We have not lost a single animal to predators since our build up five years ago. We expand pasture every year with 10% of the proceeds (profit) of the farm. The up front cost could have been a new tractor but I’d rather have peace of mind. Great video! Keep on sheeping on!

I live in the Great Lakes region, so not too far and we have had coyotes within 10 feet of the house. They are getting so numerous and bold it's ridiculous. In my state there is an open season for hunting and trapping but you can defend your livestock anytime. Hogs are always open though as the state is trying to prevent widespread infestation. Coyotes are bad and never worse than in late winter for taking small pets and livestock. They also seem more aggressive and bold during breeding and whelping times here.

Just don't ask me to do it. Not because I like coyotes, which I do, but because I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. When my cats misbehave i sometimes toss soda bottle lids at them. In 5 years I haven't hit them once. They don't even move. But yeah it's probably time to shoot them & leave the carcass for the others to see for awhile. If they're desperate enough for food to come this close to humans there's probably too many. Which can also cause them to suffer. Just make it as quick & clean as possible. It'll probably help the population as well as protect your animals. Uh not a good idea to post it on KZread. You'll get some but that doesn't know anything about animals throwing a protest.

Coyotes aren't merciful in such cases and I return the favor. My desire is to see them dead and dead is forever. I'm not fussy how they they get that way.

Good morning Sandi, yup coyotes are huge problem here too. We have 4 guardian dogs. Bandit is our yard, horse pasture protector. He is 2 years old. Princess and Queenie are with ewes in winter pasture. Viking is with wethers and rams in winter pasture. They are respectfully 11, 10 and 8 years old. All Great Pyrenees that were raised in sheep pasture, so they get it as far as predator protection. We also set up WiFi trail cameras at corner and half way fence posts. The other problem is feral dogs in the area.

If you have both coyotes & feral dogs then there's a good chance you might have coydogs as well. There's a documentary on KZread that tells about coywolves & they also talk about coydogs. I think it may have mentioned they're more fearless than regular coyotes. You might want to hunt those down more.

We have a donkey now that protects our sheep🐑. If you get a llama or donkey think about getting two if not I'm guessing they'll be okay because it would be with the sheep. 🐑🐏🐑🐴🐺 ~~~Much love from ND ~~~Karlee

Yes to your question about exercise to clear your head. My wife and I have a goat dairy that milks a 100 head and make our own cheese and bottled milk to sell. We do it alone and I work a job through the day. Our days are very busy from February to December with most of the time 4 hrs sleep or less. So we still decided we needed some extra exercise for clearing our heads and am finding out how sore we really are. I am 65 and she is 54 and 17 years ago it was a lot easier. We love your channel because it is nice to see someone we can relate to. Our fun begins in 2 weeks because we have 250 to 300 babies in about 30 days. We think you are doing a great job. I live in Oklahoma in small town farm country & I can honestly tell you that coyotes are clever little predators. The single coyote you saw was just the scout. Before the big rush on your livestock sometimes your barn cats start to go mysteriously missing....not really missing but eaten. Next the pack will start attacking single guard dogs...One (1) coyote will lead it away to the awaiting pack who will kill your single dog, two (2) dogs are more difficult but the same strategy is used by the coyotes ...will try to separate them& kill them. Now the livestock is on the menu next. I'm not saying all this has to happen before coyotes will attack your lambs because they are also opportunists! Take care & make sure the scout coyote knows you mean business! I'd be getting my rifle out & available 😉👍😁
