Cowboys defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer provided several Cowboys news items when he met with Dallas media this week. Among the biggest ones: his plan for Micah Parsons in 2024 and that Mazi Smith currently weighs 305 pounds, not the listed 328. However, that’s not the end of the world! Zimmer on Mazi: “He lost a lot of weight when he got here and he was trying to be an attacking, three-technique (defensive tackle) to get up the field and we’re going to probably play blocks a little bit more than that, try not to get reached, so linebackers know where they’re supposed to fit and so on and so forth.”

Mike Zimmer on his plan for Micah Parsons:”“He doesn’t have to take many steps. He’s such a dynamic player that, I said this the other day, offenses are always going to know where he’s at. They’re going to turn protections to him, have the back help chip no matter what it is. In a lot of the games he played last year that I watched, the offenses had a good scheme where they had two tight ends on him and all those things. So, we’re going to obviously move him around, do different things with him. But we’re going to use him some ways where we’re getting the protection turned the way we want it turned and able to win on the other side. And sometimes, we’re going to try to overload a protection where he gets a one-on-one.”

We need Mazi to step it up it wasn't his fault can't ask a mechanic to do brain surgery he has a specific role I believe Zim will get the best out of him can't wait till he plays the Comanders playing his natural position at his true weight he definitely has a grudge they wasted a year on his progress I still believe in Mazi I have a feeling he and Zim are going to be close

I’m not a believer in leaks and rumors. I’m just gonna wait until the schedules come out to see if those leaks were real. There is one game I’m looking forward to and that is against the AINTS. I want to win that game and it doesn’t matter to me if Drew Brees & Sean Payton aren’t there anymore, I want to win that game for bragging rights since I’m from Louisiana.

How about the Cowboys Parsons on the outside. This is good for two reasons, 1. He uses his awesome first step, his overall speed, and his agility to pressure and flush QB's, 2. Holding penalties will be much more readily seen in those situations. On the inside, holding is easier to get away with. Leave Parsons outside and He'll win the sack title foe the Boys!

Smh I hate whoever idea it was to waste a full season of Mazi Smith’s career like that making his drop weight to have the body of a 3 technique.. We drafted him cause he was a dancing bear that wrecked the running game.. I love Dan Quinn & how he turned our culture back around on defense but we were waaaay to finesse up front..

Unpopular opinion: I don't know if I love the Cowboys using Micah as a DPR. He's a 4.3 linebacker with great blitz potential, sideline to sideline ability, and good coverage skills. Look at the impact a guy like Fred Werner has for SF, and Micah is better than him. I bet he could still rack up double digit sacks blitzing and you'd get more overall value.
