having an abandoned mineshaft be the moonstones area was such a cool idea because its actually legit based off of an abandoned mine AND I ALSO LEGIT ONLY JUST NOTICED BUT IN THE DEATHS OF HER VICTIMS SILHOUETTES OF HER KITS APPEAR IN THEIR EYES MEANING THEY'VE BEEN ''AVENGED'' IS AMAZING coming back like a year or two later to say i probably should've put the quotations around avenged much earlier because she didn't really avenge her kits?? well she did in a twisted way sort of but what she saw was most likely hallucinations

I love how we focus on Mapleshades grief for most of the map. Usually she cries for one part the goes straight to killing. Shows how she lost her sanity very well

I think this is probably my favorite Mapleshade map. It shows her agony at the betrayal and the loss of her kits, but at the end, it doesn't excuse her actions, depicting her like a demon or a snake. It doesn't take her side but it still acknowledges that she let the evil take over. Amazing!

I really like how it was displayed too during the gray rain sequence where everyone she ends up murdering stare at her with pity and the song lulls. Maybe if she had stopped there the tragedies would have ended but because of her own actions she commited to vengeance and paid the price.

Cowboy Mapleshade has taken this fandom by storm and I love it. It really does show her grief but also her madness. She isn't even dead yet and she's turned into a monster. And I love how Ravenwing looks almost concerned when Mapleshade falls over the edge of the cliff, but then terrified when she hauls herself back over with a blood thirsty look

there’s a vaguely unsettling/unhinged tone throughout this entire MAP that i absolutely LOVE … the slower bits in particular give me chills. the song choice really lends itself to the vibe too like goddd daaamn i’m obsessed. basically this fucking rules i love it

6:09 this scene breaks my heart every time I rewatch this. Her kits still love her no matter what but as Mapleshade sinks deeper her kits can’t help her anymore and it reveals what horrible things Mapleshade has done. I love this map so much and everyone put so much effort into making this beautiful and I love it.

I love the fucking cloudy decent into madness, it shows how hurt Mapleshade truly is by these three but then it crashes back into the reality of how fucking terrifying and monstrous she is. The deranged feeling is amazing.

This project hasn't even been released yet and it already takes its rightful place in my favourite projects list. Watchung everyone's individual parts and the progess, this project is definitely going to be phenomenal, I'm so excited!

this map has made me realise that storyboarded maps are my favourite, and i love themed maps- and i love short time maps- I just. think this will be one of my fav maps for a while

My most favorite part was how the extended version just showed that Mapleshade didn't stop there, she just had a stronger bloodlust and went for Reedshine. Also that part where it showed like she fell in the river (even if it wasn't around.) Maybe its because earlier she was in one because that was the lowest point where she was in so much pain. Also the other parts were so amazing! 8 hours ain't a joke

If the clans lived in the desert I think these would be the name of the clans Thunder clan - Storm clan River clan - Oasis clan Shadow clan - Cacti clan Wind clan - Sand clan This is my favorite map honestly! Everyone did so good! :D Stay safe everyone! Have a good day/night!

If you like mapleshade maps I’d suggest the You Will Be Okay map I cried for too long

I love how the last design of Mapleshade implies all the deaths of her victims. The moonstone claws from ravenwing , snake tongue from frecklewish and the black eyes from appledusk’s blood ! A really nice detail!

Okay there are a lot of things I can appreciate it in this M.A.P so get ready for a paragraph here- Okay so first off I absolutely adore the designs, like I can't get over how frigging cool they look Mapleshade's design is quite pretty, I love how I can see clear western style colors in her fur and those red eyes just make it perfect And then the design she has at the end- Jesus christ she looks like a monster, which is exactly what she created herself to be Ravenwing's design while simple is also quite lovely, like I love his little ear tufts and how the design with his gray-black pelt really worked together Frecklewish's design is something that caught my eye a lot, I don't know if this was intentional but her fur reminds me of the skin of an adder which is what she was killed by canonly and I adore her eyes The kits designs are also very creative, I have never seen someone make all the kits have blue eyes but I can also tell they are Mapleshade's and Appledusk's based on their fur, nifty did a real good job on those! Appledusk's design is very soft and I love the colors sm- I love how there are different shades of brown on his pelt and his eyes are seriously so pretty Reedshine looks absolutely so pretty, I love how some of her fur sags and her eye lashes are just so nice I already love Reedshine sm and I'm happy she was given such a pretty design Perchpaw's design is absolutely adorable, like I love how I can tell he has stubby legs instead of having normal long legs I can also favor how he is pretty plump too which is how he was described in the books, an absolute chonkster Now moving on to the deaths Jesus christ I cannot get over how creative this deaths are- Ravenwing's death is down right gruesome and horrific I can honestly appreciate that he was visibly confused when he saw Mapleshade and wasn't hostile or anything and then fearful when she crawled right back up and grabbed him, he looked like a scared kit because he was indeed a young medicine cat in the books. Sure anyone would be scared that they were about to be killed but most cats would fight back, Ravenwing could not fight back since he was a medicine cat with no fighting experience Sure he was taught to defend himself but not like this The idea of him being thrown and then straight up impaled by a crystal at the moonstone is just so dark and horrific that it's just something Mapleshade would do- Frecklewish's death, as if it wasn't gruesome and dark enough canon wise it's even more gruesome here I love how Mapleshade leads her over to snake rocks like she did canon wise but instead of Frecklewish dying from snake venom she is choked to death by a bunch of snakes which, jesus christ that sends chills down my spine every time Appledusk's death while it doesn't look brutal to some it really is Drowning is already considered a horrible way to die and Appledusk was clearly drowning and his flesh was being torn right out of him and even though he was desperately trying to get away, he failed In my absolute honest opinion, none of these cats deserved to die especially Ravenwing who was just doing his job as a medicine cat Now this scene 2:05-3:00 I can appreciate how this M.A.P made sure to note that Mapleshade loved her kits more than anything I can see her shock when she sees her kits and then her absolute joy as she shed's herself to tears I also love how she is underwater which I can guess is implying the river that caused the kits tragic death Now this scene 3:00-4:10 This scene after looking back at what it really means does conflict me a little but at the same time it doesn't Mapleshade the entire book thinks she did nothing wrong and was 100% innocent when really she wasn't The idea of her waiting for an apology from these three before completely snapping is quite creative However in my personal opinion, only Frecklewish and Appledusk should've apologized Ravenwing as I stated before, really did nothing wrong and was just doing his job as a medicine cat- Plus the book made it clear he had nothing against Mapleshade's kits, maybe her but not her kits Ravenwing in general could do nothing when it came to Mapleshade's exile even if he tried because it is against the warrior code to speak against their leader (which I find this rule really stupid to this day) But I can understand Frecklewish and Appledusk needing to apologize, though I personally think Mapleshade should've done the same for them Why I think this is because she lied about Frecklewish's brother being the father of her kits which was also insulting a dead cat- And Appledusk because she did foolishly cross the river and killed their kits BY ACCIDENT Other than that she doesn't need to apologize much to Appledusk 5:28 I can appreciate how this M.A.P also interprets that Appledusk is a coward because I will admit, he did cowardly stuff and while I don't agree with him using Reedshine as a shield I can also see exactly where that scene is coming from He's a coward, he did cowardly things but he also had every right to be mad at Mapleshade That's all I'll really say though 5:50-6:14 This last chase scene is down right scary, especially since Mapleshade looks like a down right monster I love how Mapleshade decides to chase them because even after she went for Appledusk, she still wanted Reedshine dead canonly in the books I can also appreciate how instead of Perchpaw killing her instantly, he's afraid like Reedshine since he is an apprentice Perchpaw during this scene 5:56 is so created well. The idea of him trying to save Reedshine but only getting stomped all over by Mapleshade is funny yet accurate too since he's rather short Then this scene 6:00, jesus christ Mapleshade looks so scary and I can appreciate how terrified Reedshine truly looks, I believe Reedshine is way too demonized so I can really appreciate how she is played here And I love the ending sm I love how she lunges for Reedshine but Perchpaw quickly shoves her to the side and she falls off a cliff, still pretty much causing her death In this way Perchpaw caused her death but didn't exactly kill her which I seriously love and can't get over And I seriously love how her death is by drowning like her kits did The scene where she's peacefully accepting death and her kits are going down with her then her victims is a real nice touch Overall I seriously love this M.A.P to bits and can't get over it, like even the credits is creative! And that vine at the end was pure cold Seriously lovely M.A.P everyone did so amazing!

things i noticed in the "transformed" mapleshade if you could call it that - the snake togue referring to frecklewish's murder - the moonstone claws from the murder at the moonstone (idk who it was sorry) - the black eyes representing her turning to her twisted, evil side as she goes to the only thing she believes will work, brutality, and how that takes her over.

So excited to have been able to participate in such a crazy project! Everyone did amazing I know I’m gonna be watching this religiously

2:50 hit me so hard, mapleshade looked so incredibly happy to reunite with her dead kits and they just vanish out of her reach, as it was just a dream. All of you did an amazing job and I love how it turned out!

I love Perchpaw and Reedshine here so much. Like the way he stands up to Mapleshade to protect her? And Reedshine catching him so he does not fall? Ughghg

Oh my god, this was one of the most creative and realistic MAPs I've ever seen, and I'm absolutely in love! Each and every participant did absolutely stunning, which is pretty rare to see for MAPs nowadays. 10/10, would watch 50 times

This is going to be so sick. It's insane how a map with about 40(?) Parts got completed so quickly (even if it's 8 hours, that's still so impressive) edit: was pretty busy so I missed this by 24 hours or sumn. This is so pretty, literally one of my personal favourite maps, and I'm not kidding. This is gorgeous, can't wait for this to be known as a classic because it deserves that name, every single part is a darn masterpiece and I wish I had the patience and time to write a paragraph about all of them separately

I'll admit. I'm honestly not into Warrior's MAPs a lot of the time. However, I actually REALLY enjoy this MAP. A few times I did leave it one for noise, but most of the time I just watch the video. I watch the masterpiece. The art that took time to be created. I read the others' comments here, and sometimes I'd even think about them while watching the video. A few such as the one pointing out how they liked that you made the Moonstones are be located within an abandoned mineshaft and one about the cool review ''flowerbean10'' did. Those are just two I've mentioned, but it makes me appreciate the MAP even more with every detail and scene shown. Not sure if everyone seemed to have noticed this, but at certain scenes, you can actually see a glimpse in the eyes of certain cats as they're dying. (4:43, 5:09, and 5:41). These ''things'' you see in their eyes appear to be the kits that sadly had passed. Aside from that, I love rewatching this! This is easily one of my Top 5 Warrior's MAPs of all time.

Let me just start off by saying WOW. 71 ANIMATORS?!?!?! IN TWO WEEKS?!?!? HOW?!?! This was one of THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MAPs I’ve ever seen and to think that all of it was done with a deadline of EIGHT HOURS is absolutely mind-blowing!!!! Gibe yourself a round of applause Cheetz, you really can’t beat that!

the part with her kits in the ocean destroyed me. i could feel the warmth relief and pain that she was feeling in that scene. ive never seen a mapleshade map quite like this one, its super inaccurate to canon but thats the beauty of it. its almost like you can feel her emotions throughout the video because of how everything is portrayed. thank you all 46 animators, this is fucking eye candy.

I love the ending. How perch paw slashed at MapleShades side, causing her to fall into the river and ultimately her death. If you look closely, you could see that perch paw nearly fell off the cliff, but ReedShine saved him. I can just imagine how traumatized and panicked they would’ve been after maple fell into the river, weeping tears of fear as they ran to their/one of their clans. And I could imagine how surprised the clans must’ve been when told the story. That MapleShade, the exiled queen, attempted to murder two cats and successfully killed three. I just love this map so much

this is genuinely such a fascinating piece of artwork, like, children’s cat books or not, i feel like it is complex and symbolic enough to warrant at least 3 academic essays… it will definitely be on my mind for a couple days at least, fantastic work to everyone involved

Approving this is a great decision Starclan, but can you tell me why you approved Ashfur being allowed into Starclan?

I really like how Mapleshade's victims were portrayed here. They didn't get shown as evil, and Mapleshade wasn't justified here. I wish more animations, and maps were like this!:)

As MapleShade trudges through the Desert Territory, the sun tears her mind apart. She approaches the large mud puddles with a confused-like face. She almost cries, knowing her kits died from that remote Oasis puddle. She wipes the cold mud onto her face, laughing psychotically. The tortoise-shell molly enters the abandoned mineshaft, the home of the largest mother-mouth known to the clans. As she enters, she spots the terrible cat, RavenWing. With a burning hatred, she exits the moonstone with a sigh. She collapses to heatstroke, awaking in that same deep oasis puddle, the one near RiverClan territory. An eel passes her by, before 3 pairs of eyes emerge in front of her. There, her kits. Her kits rush out to her, MapleShade welcomes them with open arms, tears rolling down her cheeks. But, those kits fade away. MapleShade sighs, turning to see those souls. Those souls that have betrayed her. MapleShade has no reaction but for a quiet cry. She awakes, anger fuels her. She quickly rushes back to MotherMouth, leaping at RavenWing with a scream. She slips off the rock, her tailtip getting ripped by the sharp spikes. She regains herself, crawling up the rock. A eyeblink later, RavenWing was impaled on the sharp rock, and MapleShade was gone. MapleShade tracks mud to her location, leading FreckleWish right where she wanted her. At SnakeBite, the closest snake area. FreckleWish freezes, snakes surrounding her as MapleShade walks off. FreckleWish dies of those adder snakes, and MapleShade believes that she freed her second kit. MapleShade snatches PerchPaw while he was hiding from the rain, using him as bait to draw AppleDusk closer. MapleShade notices that AppleDusk’s new mate was….pregnant?! She hisses, jumping down with a grin. She launches herself at AppleDusk, giving him a good slash across the stomach, then shoving him under the waves. “Hah! I thought you were a RiverClan cat. Guess the rivers don’t like you that much!” MapleShade laughs, as the bubbles stop. She whips around, chasing PerchPaw and ReedShine up to the highest mountain, jumping on PerchPaw. MapleShade launches into the air, but gets her side slashed by that damn apprentice, falling off the cliff. She lands in a river, her eyes imagine seeing her kits trying to drag her up, but it was no use. She smiles, closing her eyes. Presumably drowning to death in that river….but MapleShade wasn’t done with her rampage, not for a million moons. *•END•* (SnakeBite is my own made up snakerocks for the desert territory :) )

This is so insane, definitely my favorite map as of late! The creativity of each part is insane, AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HOW THE NARRATIVE IS STRUCTURED!

This song is so lonely and angry. It's really perfect for Mapleshade. Great job everyone!!

I'm late but goddamn this is amazing. I like how it doesn't portray her victims as evil but it also shows some parts of her life as sympathetic but also doesn't make her murder justified either. It's a good balance. And damn, as if the deaths couldn't get more brutal lol! If ima be honest, her crossing of the river in the actual books was silly but it kinda makes sense in this specific AU. A desert is a much harder place to keep kits alive than a bunch of forests, plains and towns. A clan would have been one of the only safe places for a queen because deserts are brutal and very difficult to survive. So it just makes Oakstar exiling her kits with her even worse. She could have still gone to Windclan in this AU since I assume the code about kits is the same but the long trek with kits, limited water and limited food would be pretty tough and the kits would be on the verge of death by the time she got anywhere in the desert. So long story short, crossing the river in this AU is less stupid than in canon and actually makes some logical sense rather than "I just needed to see Appleman :'(" and "We had nowhere to go" despite barn and twolegplace.

I love how, despite being ThunderClan and in a desert, Mapleshade is constantly being shown with water in some form. There are very few frames where she is outside of water. Even in frames without outright water sources like rain and rivers, there's mud (which is wet dirt) or that water-patterned ground. The only scenes in the MAP where Mapleshade is not depicted with water/near a water source is at the very beginning where she's dying of heatstroke (later in the MAP when she decided to avenge her kits she's revived by a storm) and the mineshaft, a holy place where StarClan resides. Mapleshade is evil and will never be a StarClan cat, so it makes sense that her power would not follow her there since StarClan is more powerful than her. The first time she's in the mineshaft, there's lightning, which transitions to her being banished. That's why she slips and falls when attempting to commit a violent act as well. But when she overcomes this weakness and is able to kill Ravenwing, her dead kit's face flashes in the eyes of the deceased medicine cat and the very next frame depicts her with muddy paws. Finally, she drowns to death. Her last frames of wandering the dark afterlife show lightning, which isn't technically water but the promise of water. After all, lightning comes from rain clouds. I love this MAP so much! Holy crap so much work went into it! Even if my analysis is way off, the amount of detail, fluidity of the animation, the beauty of the art, the plot--it's amazing!

THIS WAS AN INSANE PROJECT I STILL CANT BELIEVE I GOT IN!!! everyones parts were absolutely breathtaking and it all went together so well im so glad i could be a part of it! good job everyone!

This is my absolute favorite interpretation of Mapleshade!!! It shows not only her victim's deaths in an incredibly creative light, but also how she wasn't a heartless muderer at first. She was a caring and grieving mother, who wanted nothing more than the safety of her kits. And while that absolutely does not and will NEVER excuse her actions, it's a reason as to why she talked about them, why she cared for them, and why she eventually killed for them. It's a true phenomenon how this map showed all of it, and in a way that's so astoundingly creative it just adds to the beauty of the whole map!! All of the participants here did an amazing job, and I'm glad this has gotten the love and appreciation it truly deserves!! (also if i worded something a little weirdly or in a way that makes it seem odd, I apologize, I'm not really good at typing out my thoughts and opinions on stuff)

“She was a snake so she allied herself with the snakes, she had lost it all, and she died as she lived through vengeance with claws outstretched and her rage carrying her to the after life”

can i just say how beautiful and intense the scenes are?? how she falls in the water with all of the other cats she killed its just amazing!!! This is such a good map!

Oh. My. Starclan. This is one of my all time favorite maps? What an interesting and unique take on Mapleshade. There are so many fanworks featuring her story, but this is new and refreshing! The heat induced hallucinations of her kits, and the cats that wronged her? Amazing. The action sequences? Flawless. How Appledusk pulled Reedshine in front of him to save his own skin? Hilarious (and oddly in character). It's the story we all know, but with a twist that makes it that much more thrilling.

The ending.. oh god the ending felt like a physical blow, like I fell into the water myself. Damn. I'm so happy this community exists and is able to share so much creativity.

Oh god the imagery of the snakes coming out from behind mapleshade??? Stunning. The fact they were rattlesnakes too??? Gorgeous I also can't get over the entrance to the moon pool being an abandoned railroad and Raven being impaled on the crystals, everything here is so gorgeous 😭

I actually hate the Appledusk death scene in the books. Not because Reed deserved to die, but he feels WAY too noble. Just days before he called his dead kittens a mistake and used Reed as an excuse to be loyal to RiverClan. (Admittedly she herself brings it up, but he furthers the excuse and even threatens Maple because she’s upset she can’t stay in RiverClan or even be there for her kit’s burial- not to mention the way he talks to Reed when Maple is entering camp and when she’s spying in the tree reads as super fake) He’s a coward and proves it over and over again, so him being all like, “no, I won’t fight you, imma jump between you and your fury that I’m totes not scared of cuz I’m noble” doesn’t sound anything like him. Him putting Reedshine in front of him, however 👀

I agree that he is a coward, but I blame him for the kits death and maple shades as well, if he’s had never pay any attention to maple shade she won’t have died nor her kits. I know I haven’t read the books; but he knew that if he had kits with maple shade- he would have broken the code but he has kits with maple shade and blames her for the kits death. And he cheated on his mate with maple shade; people may disagree or agree but- I’m just saying *I* blame him for the death for three cats, maple shade, and her kits.

I think the kits’ death was no one’s fault, a genuine accident, but the other deaths had nothing to do with Apple and everything to do with Maple. She went insane and killed them thinking her kits were calling out for her to do it. Apple had no idea that would happen. It had nothing to do with attention, btw, cuz Maple crossed the river after being exiled from ThunderClan and being terrified of being attacked. Admittedly he’s a bad cat, a cheater and awful being regarding his kits, but he wasn’t a murderer like Mapleshade.

@@eirenaioseirenaioa8790 He did know Maple had kits? Or Reedshine? He knew about both, but not about the insane ghost bit, and he didn’t encourage her across the river. Maple did that herself.

All of the individual MAP parts look so cool, and I can’t wait to see the finished MAP! Edit: OMG!! All of this is so well made, each of these artists are so talented! Everything goes so perfectly with the desert theme, and i can see how much effort was put in in such a short amount if time! And the character designs are so cool!! I love this thing SO much!!

I couldn't participate in this project, but I hope I'll expand my portfolio soon so I'll be able to be part of your upcoming maps! I love it so much, everyone did such a great job. Final project looks so breathtaking - the creepy yet interesting atmosphere, the song, the animators you chose! It's so good to see another iconic MAP! ❤️

Is no one gonna talk about how many parts cheetahz had??? Like hot damn, cheetahz Did an amazing job every single one too. Everyone did amazing and it's all beautiful. Love everyone who put alot of hard work into this

I love how dramatic and exaggerated some parts are in this and how water is used to show her connection to the kits. This is a brilliant work and I can solely say that each and every part was pulled of truly excellent! Great work everyone!!!

I love how the MAP retold how it went and made it like 10 times more interesting than what happens in canon

I adore this map. It rlly shows Mapleshade’s true colors, instead of just ‘Imma Villian! Rawr! I’ll kill ya then eat your bones’. I got emotional for her when it shows her under water with her kits, then waking up to it being nothing but a dream. I feel like we can almost all relate to Mapleshade when it comes to anger, and grief. Like, what if I did this instead, or how come they all died but they are still alive? This map I feel like rlly explains Mapleshade and who she was vs what happened to her and how, instead of overcoming it, she loved so much that it took over her, causing her to…feel: which a lot of us wish we could do more of. Amazing job to all the artists who participated in this map. It’s a new treasure to my heart❤️

It is INCREDIBLE that a project of this scope and quality was finished in such a short period of time!! There is clearly so much hard work put into every single one of these parts, absolutely amazing work everyone!! ❤️👏👏👏

I’ve watched this like four times now, it’s absolutely incredible! I remember seeing all the shitposts and individual parts from some people but I decided to not listen to the full map call yet so I could hear and see it all at once when it was completed and oh my god, it’s absolutely stunning. Seriously I can’t say enough about everything from the character designs, the shading, the lighting, subtle color theory, and emotion put behind every single frame. Everyone did absolutely incredible! ❤️❤️❤️

the ocean scene is so sad. it’s a break from all the violence, a reminder of mapleshade’s true self, intentions, and feelings. i’ve always loved mapleshade’s story because of that. it’s so tragic, everybody was a victim of their own actions, including mapleshade. she truly was a good cat, who was blinded by grief. she had hallucinations, conflicting feelings, and that all contributed to the monster she’d become. it’s really sad if you think about it. and this is something that very much happens in real life.

I love the use of the oarfish as it’s been depicted it showing itself before natural disasters

WTF this is the best Mapleshade MAP I've ever seen! And how she kills Ravenwing, Frecklewish and Appledusk is so creative! Honestly, this made Mapleshade look so insane and scary!

The expressions, the emotions, the art style, everything was so well done and basically, this is the best Mapleshade map I have ever seen! Well done everybody!

I just love the detail and references of her kits into the eyes of cats she killed.

This is why i love MapplShade cuz she's just evil! I mean she was not evil before her kits death,but i still love her,i always had a soft spot for villains(only if they are enjoyable) but MapplaShede will always be on the top no matter wat pll say.

Props to the person who animated the snake shot and used a constrictor snake as the one strangling Frecklewish and some rattlesnakes as the ones biting her, super nice detail!
