You beat me to it. The book portrays Mapleshade as hallucinating her kits being like “free us mother” so it’s relieving and cool to see them portrayed more realistically like this.

The little movement of Perchpaw wobbling before lunging was perfect! I love when animators acknowledge a character is injured, and thus not going to move perfectly!

This is so random but what I find so funny is how Mapleshades own kits were like: “mom this river looks to harsh” and she was like “yeah, Yeah I’ll bring them in”

I absolutely love that this map doesn’t victimize Mapleshade, or Appledusk! Like an actual book accurate Mapleshade maps need to be made much more often

This might actually be one of my favorite mapleshade maps ever, The accurate portrayal of everything is just beautiful and horrific The way the crows tear and rip into poor ravenwing’s body and the kid (I think it’s larchkit) starts hyperventilating due to the horror he just witnessed The way we don’t see Frecklewish get bit but we do see her shadow get bit and the look on petalkits face is so heartbreaking Then lastly appledusk’s death which is perfectly accurate to the book, the way it looks like patchkit is crying it for appledusk to “wake up” almost, that’s just so heartbreaking I think adding the addition of how the kits really felt seeing their mother become a monster Is just so so beautiful Every part in this entire map is just gorgeous like I cannot stress that enough everyone did so so well and the designs are so pretty just AH This is definitely my favorite mapleshade map

Yeah but they didn’t get the bird eating Ravenwing’s corpse right, it was a hawk, not crows, they presented everything accurately though.

One thing i noted is when maple is watching apple and reed her claws are out and her kit is crying behind her symbolizing how she only has revenge on her mind that doesn’t even benefit whom she is trying to avenge as throughout the entire map her kits are crying instead of encouraging her behavior as most maps or pmvs portray the kits doing. Which is a nice change that i haven’t seen before.

Likely because in the books the kits ARE encouraging what she's doing...because they're hallucinations and not really her kits; so this map is a tad less accurate. It's still really good and more symbolic!

Everyone did absolutely amazing on this I cannot image the effort put into all of these animations a big thank you to everyone and especially forestwhisker for making this! This maps going down in warriors history! Edit: after watching the playlist I thought it could not get any better but oh my gawd that was scrumptious just like appledusks kneecaps. 1:18 I LOVE THIS PART, ESPECIALLY THE EAR TURN BEFORE FRECKLE WAS ATTACKED IS SO REALISTIC I LOVE THAT TINY DETAIL

I absolutely love this! I like the designs, and the song is catchy and a great fit for Mapleshade. I also love that this MAP includes her kits, and how instead of being “satisfied” like it was said in the book, they were instead horrified by their mothers actions. The animators did great! And I love the storyline of the overall MAP, it’s great, amazing! Good job everyone! 👏🏼

Anybody got the chills when it gets redder when Mapleshade kills her victims? Not to mention the horror in the kits’ eyes

Maple'Shade really potrays how a mother is absolutely broken after their kid's death.

2:40 I love how he hobbles over and sucks in his tears to go after mapleshade before she could do more.this MAP is so amazing!!!!!

All of the participants in this MAP are incredibly talented and I’m really excited that this PMV had the chance to shine again! I remember watching it when it first came out over and over again during class on my school laptop, and this just brought back that huge wave of nostalgia I always feel when watching the original. Thank you to all of the animators who put in their time and effort to create this wonderful project for all of us!

Freaking amazing not only is it refreshing to see a MAP that does Apple’s death correctly, but does everyone's death correctly. (except for Freckle’s I think it was different in the book but we had Maple moving the rocks first instead of as the snake comes out, looks cool but that fact shows up so much, and Maple's content and isn't what happened bugs me.) I love how the kits are horrified, while in the book they seemed grateful, in the book they were in Maple’s head, of course, the kits that she brought into a restless river at two moons old would never hate her at all. In all seriousness amazing MAP mega prompts for doing Apple’s death right, we never get to see it done properly for some weird reason. Oh and also great Maple design.

@@imaginarylivingbody7154originally yes, but the fact he sacrificed his life is kinda important for story telling. Dying via sacrifice and I good indicator of someone’s personality and the fact people don’t show that is what I’m (and I expect others) are upset about.

Outside Mothermouth stood a heap of small stones that had not been there before. A tuft of black fur poked through a gap in the pile. Mapleshade sniffed and recognized Ravenwings scent. Rather than carry him all the way back to the forest, his fellow medicine cats had decided to bury him here, marking his final nest with a careful mountain of rocks. Mapleshade curled her lip. What memorial was there to her kits? Nothing but the cold wet dirt inside RiverClans territory. She struck out at the pile of stones, knocking them to the ground. Her claws caught on the rocks and her pads stung but she kept flailing until the heap was destroyed and Ravenwings body was exposed to the gray dawn.Mapleshade looked up and caught sight of a hawk circling overhead. (in italics) Here’s your next piece of fresh-kill, (out of italics) she thought with satisfaction. The hawk swept down closer, and Mapleshade bounded away from the scattered stones. She bounded down the hillside without looking back. She had avenged her kits! (in italics) Were you watching, my precious kits? I killed him for you! I hope you never see Ravenwing in StarClan. He should be in the Place Of No Stars for all eternity.

this is quite possibly my favorite mapleshade animation ever?! everyone did absolutely phenomenal and seeing the already amazing pmv i've loved for so long get even better with the combined work of so many of my favorite animators?! i've been keeping up with the progress for so long and somehow the finished map still surprised me with how perfect it ended up turning out!

Woke up to this! Loved seeing this re-animated I remember when the original came out and I loved it! Such a big part of growing up I shared it with my friends and now turning 21 today and seeing it makes me think just how far we've all come! Fantastic job to all the animators and ForestWhisker for hosting

Holy CRAP this is beautiful the remade parts are all done so well, god everyone animated each part so dang well from the variety of artstyles to awesome lip sync! I also really love the addition of the reaction from the passed away kits too, I believe that is an addition you do not see in many Mapleshade MAPs

This came out even better then I thought it would, I knew it would be amazing but.. This is incredible! Everyone of these animators did wonderful.

OHHH MY GOD i remember when the original PMV came out and i was so obsessed i watched it every day. seeing it reanimated is SOOO SURREAL i love seeing little personal tweaks and touches the participants added on and what they kept the same! everyone did AMAZING what an exciting project! 🧡

It was wonderful being involved in this and being a backup! I used to watch the original pmv multiple times a day and that pmv is partly what got me into animating and the warriors fandom in the first place, so it was a huge rush of nostalgia getting to be involved in this. Huge props to forest for being an excellent host!! It might not mean much because of my little experience with participating in maps, but this was truly one of my best experiences in a map call. All of the animators did a STUNNING job!

One of the iconic maps for Mapleshade is finally back in the light!! Amazing work everyone!

i loved the original pmv, and i even more love seeing so many artists i had admired (and artists i NOW admire) come forward to recreate it together! incredible work from everyone at recreating it. i love the emotion throughout, the styles of each animation, and all the character designs !! i love how things were changed a bit here and there but stuck true to the same feel of the original pmv.

I remember watching the original as a teen over and over again, oh the nostalgia, it looks so good ❤
