Cowboy Boot Shine ASMR (no wax) - Lone Cactus Leather

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

These Ariat boots were brought in for their first shine. The customer asked for a natural factory like shine without any wax so we took care of business. Hope you enjoy the video. Thank you for watching!

It was Fiebings saddle soap. You could try it on automotive leather but I'd also suggest trying it on an inconspicuous spot first. Meguiars makes an incredible cleaner for automotive leather.

Hello! I saw you using lighter to burn off thread ends. I highly recommend you to heat up steel wire (around 1 mm or 3/64") and just touch end of the thread with it. It leaves nice smooth end that wont come out again!

For this, use bickmore saddle soap to clean, & bickmore bick 4 for conditioning the leather after. If you wanted it to shine, a neutral polish after (good for the various finishes out there). If the threads on the sole are dirty & saddle soap doesn't work, the more aggressive bickmore bick 1 will (not much is needed). Not all leathers can be cleaned this way. Apache leather or "distressed" leather will permanently change its appearance if you use a normal leather conditioner. Use a distressed leather conditioner for those. Saddle soap can strip the dye from some types of leathers. Use a 2 in 1 exotic leather cleaner/conditioner for those. Hope this helps.

I’ve got a pair of Dan Post Caiman boots. They are very nice. The skin is tough and beautiful. Not soft but very durable. They aren’t as nice or as comfortable as the Alligator Lucchese’s I have but I expect them to last just as long and they were cheaper. Dan Post makes a good boot.

Hello Jose, I use the lighter to seal any loose threads on the stitching of the shoe/boot. As you can see in this video, this step is done when the leather is still wet to prevent any damage to the leather. Thank you for watching.

For this, use saddle soap to clean, & a leather conditioner (like bick 4) for conditioning the leather after. If you wanted it to shine, a neutral polish after (good for the various finishes out there). If the threads on the sole are dirty & saddle soap doesn't work, the more aggressive bickmore bick 1 will (not much is needed). I haven't used a lighter for loose threads. I instead use a small pair of sharp fingernail clippers. It is a little slower but still effective. Use either a brown or black sole dressing for the edges of the sole & heel. Be careful to apply it to the sole only because it is a stain. Let sit for 30 sec to a min, & wipe the excess off with a paper towel. Suede leather simply requires a suede eraser & brush that is actually made for it. Use the eraser for water stains & the brush after to work it back to the original suede texture. If the suede actually gets dirty, sparingly use a suede & nubuck cleaner (because suede is temperamental). All of these products are made by bickmore, scout, & fiebings and many more manufacturers. They can be found at boot stores like Cavenders and Boot Barn, as well Amazon.

Why no wax? Non-synthetic I get, but I put a natural wax product on every new pair of leather boots I get called Garrison Guard. Gives a nice shine, gives some water resistance and helps a lot w/ stopping scuffing. Used on everything from Lucchesses, Danners, and Allen Edmonds--I don't why a breathable wax shouldn't be the first order of business?

Nope! Did not like this one. What about the shaft of the boot? The whole boot looks pretty dried-out, especially the shaft. Please don't take offense, you did a really great job on the conditioning shine, but personally if the cheapskate wouldn't let me do a full and complete conditioning and polish job on his boots I would have politely declined that particular customer. If my name is going on that work, then I would have to insist that I be allowed to make those boots have the best possible shine on the WHOLE boot that I could give them! O.K., my rant is done....guess I am just too damn fussy!

  • @lonecactusleather

Hello Craig, you are correct. In this case the customer asked for no wax and didn't want the shaft of the boot touched except for a spot on the bottom front side. A lot of our customers give specific instructions when they bring us their foot wear and we gladly try to meet their expectations to provide the best service experience possible. I personally do not have a problem with customer instructions, it is their property and we're charging for a service in which our main goal is to meet and surpass the customer's expectations. Again, thank you for watching.

+Lone Cactus Leather - Shoe Shine & Care Spoken like a true customer service oriented professional! I guess I am just a bit biased in my business, I worked with autoparts for 22+ years, and in that particular line of work I can truly say that: "the customer is NOT always right!" if they give you the correct information, then they will leave with the correct parts! I can only advise the customer about what they need for the job, but it is up to them to decide. And I NEVER tried to up-sell items to anyone. I guess my point is that I am sure that you reccomended to your customer what would be the best treatment for his boots, but he had his own ideas, so you did the right thing and gave him what he asked for. Glad I retired at age 55, I got tired of dealing with the general public. Anyhow, you still got those boots to shine pretty damn good with just the conditioner! Thank you for taking the time to reply, and keep on shining!
