    Thank you Will for an enjoyable and informative instructional video. I live in the often rainy Pacific Northwest. Is there a polish or water repellent product you would recommend for use in a wet climate? Also, could you share the title of the background music in this video? You do a great job on the Chisos videos...please keep ‘em coming!

  • @Chisos

    Thank you, TacomaJ51! Appreciate your enthusiasm! Regarding wet climates, the leather itself is water resistant-but not water proof. It does absorb water if submerged. Honestly I don't recommend attempting to water proof your boots, as it kills the breathability of the leather. Our heritage leathers are packed with oils, so they'll do just fine in a light rain. I'd be more worried about slipping on a wet concrete surface, to be honest! And the song is from here: elements.envato.com/cowboy-DYS3P5V

    What about the leather lining? I have a pair which's lining has dried out and started to crack. I didn't conditioned it in the inside because I was afraid of the waxy conditioner would ruin my socks.

  • @Chisos

    You can condition the insides with something like Kali Leather Life or Bick 4. Just let them air out for 24 hours before wearing!

    Thoughts on hitting the boots with some saddle soap before conditioning????

  • @Chisos

    @Chisos

    3 жыл бұрын

    I'm not a big fan of saddle soap, as it can dry out the leather. But if they're really really dirty and you need it, just make sure to condition afterwards

    What type of conditioner would you recommend that won’t darken the natural color of the leather?

  • @Chisos

    @Chisos

    4 жыл бұрын

    Just about any conditioner will temporarily darken the leather as you introduce moisture to it. However I recommend Kali Leather Life. It will restore yet not darken the pigment in the leather.

    Thanks, Will @ Chisos. Found this by searching: 'taking care of cowboy boots' - out of curiosity. I have been wearing cowboy boots since I was 20. I am 69 now. I am a multi millionaire. I own a few cars, and 3 houses. I have house servants etc. BUT - ONE THING! I polish my own boots. Like a religion. Every Sunday afternoon. Out in the garden. Polish on. Polish of. Cloth shine. All of the boots of the week. I also wash my cars myself. Zen therapy.
