Thank you Will for an enjoyable and informative instructional video. I live in the often rainy Pacific Northwest. Is there a polish or water repellent product you would recommend for use in a wet climate? Also, could you share the title of the background music in this video? You do a great job on the Chisos videos...please keep ‘em coming!

Thank you, TacomaJ51! Appreciate your enthusiasm! Regarding wet climates, the leather itself is water resistant-but not water proof. It does absorb water if submerged. Honestly I don't recommend attempting to water proof your boots, as it kills the breathability of the leather. Our heritage leathers are packed with oils, so they'll do just fine in a light rain. I'd be more worried about slipping on a wet concrete surface, to be honest! And the song is from here: elements.envato.com/cowboy-DYS3P5V
Beautiful boots!!!👍🏼
Those are good looking boots chisos? Never heard of them, might consider
Bootification of Cowboy Boots....Thanks !
I bought a pair of cowboy boots in the 1990, had cherry colored finish. I didn't wear them often. They are dusty and I would like to polish them to look new. Which polish can I use?
What about the leather lining? I have a pair which's lining has dried out and started to crack. I didn't conditioned it in the inside because I was afraid of the waxy conditioner would ruin my socks.
@Chisos

You can condition the insides with something like Kali Leather Life or Bick 4. Just let them air out for 24 hours before wearing!
Is the boot barn conditioner good

Thoughts on hitting the boots with some saddle soap before conditioning????
@Chisos
3 жыл бұрын
I'm not a big fan of saddle soap, as it can dry out the leather. But if they're really really dirty and you need it, just make sure to condition afterwards
Does the conditioner make the cracks go away.
I apply bick 4 conditioner to my new boots before I get them dirty. Does anybody condition the boot shaft leather also ? Just curious if I should do the whole boot or just the parts exposed to the elements. sure it’s not a big deal .
@Chisos

Yes, hit the entire boot with that conditioner-all leather loves the Bick 4
As soon as you put a leather foot bed in there you got a customer my friend. You need to remove that synthetic stinky footbed. Your boots are awesome !!!
@Chisos

The insole is leather topped, so your foot only ever touches leather :) You should put them to the test!

What kind of conditioner do I use for double H old forklore leather boots
@Chisos
Жыл бұрын
You should be able to use ours as it's great for finished leather! You can use any leather conditioner though just test it on the upper shaft in case is causes discoloration. Let us know at howdy@chisos.com if you have any other questions! Thank you, Allison
i bought a pair, never care for it in any way beyond hosing the mud off it. Then it spent 3 years in the basement. Let's just say it's not the same pair of boots anymore. I wonder if i can make it look decent again.

I'd give it a hit with Black Rock leather 'n rich cream!
What type of conditioner would you recommend that won’t darken the natural color of the leather?
@Chisos
4 жыл бұрын
Just about any conditioner will temporarily darken the leather as you introduce moisture to it. However I recommend Kali Leather Life. It will restore yet not darken the pigment in the leather.

You ain't gonna kill 'em overnight, but months/years of that will shorten the lifespan of the leather.
I wonder if many people commenting realize there are whole conventions where people buy/sell/trade collectibles and reselling is a normal part of it. They might be so offended at the idea…
Don't use any water? 🙄 I just did, I hope they will be fine.

Man, thanks... but in more than 30 years of wearing boots it never cross my mind to clean them 🤣 ever. That would be an abomination 🤣
Thanks, Will @ Chisos. Found this by searching: 'taking care of cowboy boots' - out of curiosity. I have been wearing cowboy boots since I was 20. I am 69 now. I am a multi millionaire. I own a few cars, and 3 houses. I have house servants etc. BUT - ONE THING! I polish my own boots. Like a religion. Every Sunday afternoon. Out in the garden. Polish on. Polish of. Cloth shine. All of the boots of the week. I also wash my cars myself. Zen therapy.
