Dr. Minimol B ( HOD, Electronics and Biomedical Engineering Department of MEC), K.K Saju (Professor, CUSAT), Sunil Paul (Assistant professor of Christ College) and Dr. Lalu (Professor, GEC) are the mentors who provided the support, guidance and valuable advice for bringing up this project.
Finally, presenting the team of young, aspiring engineers consisting of Ameesh M Iqbal, Anushka Anil, Flemin T Sabu, Sreehari P, Adithya Baiju, Gokul S Gopan, and Atul Chris Alex who have worked behind in implementing the project to a product level.
Project Details:
1. Medicine Delivery Utility Vehicle :
This utility vehicle is designed for providing non-contact delivery of commodities to the covid patients admitted in the first level covid care centers. An already existing trolley is modified by using automation
which helps to supply necessary commodities to the patient. This helps health workers in caring for patients and aiding interaction between patients and staff which reduce risk of infection among medical
staff. It can carry items weighing 20kg. It is also provided with obstacle detection.
The various stages of development and trial run of this utility vehicle conducted at CIAL Nedumbassery is as shown in the video.
2. Audio - Video Communication Utility Vehicle :
An audio-video interfaced utility vehicle is designed for two-way communication between the medical professionals and the infected patient. The vehicle consists of a tab holder in which the doctors or
medical workers could easily communicate with the patients. For providing two-way communication, an emergency switch will be provided near the patient table and in case of an emergency, the video
interfaced automated vehicle will be directed to the patient based on the patient information or the respective room number and returned back to the nursing station.
The development stages are as shown in the video.
3. Waste Collection Utility Vehicle :
The third variation is a waste collection utility vehicle and it reduces the need for additional manual labour in the first level treatment centre for Covid patients. Two waste bins of red and blue colour are to be placed inside the trolley for collection of recyclable waste and pathological/chemical waste from the patient bed. Navigation of this trolley is by utilising remote control. The system can be controlled from the nursing station within the range of 5 meters. This ensures reduced risk transmission for medical assistants as well as ease in sorted collection of waste.
