Another point: why is there no advice or discussion about the home treatment of Covid-19? When somebody receives a positive test result they are told to go home and isolate. This is simply not good enough. Why should people have to sit around for days doing nothing, waiting for the virus to either go away or pit them into hospital?

The vast majority of hospitalized Covid-19 patients have undiagnosed metabolic syndrome or are pre-diabetic prior to infection. We are talking about sick people who were previously unaware of their metabolic dysfunction. India adopted the standard American diet a while ago which is loaded with cheap highly processed foods high in refined grains, refined sugar, and refined seed/vegetable oils. These foods have little to no nutritional value and are known to wreck the human metabolism. Eat junk and you will suffer the consequences of poor metabolic and immune health. Lockdowns also make people more sedentary, contributing to prolonged states of hyperglycemia. Why do we keep going round in circles with this stuff? Address the keys issues please, i.e., poor diet and lifestyle choices.

@@mjwilliamsb2676 It is very simple! You cannot detect pre-diabetes with a standard glucose test. You need to look at fasting insulin, HbA1C, as well as other metabolic markers. Hyperinsulinemia typically precedes hyperglycemia, hence your blood glucose may seem okay or borderline, but your insulin is through the roof. You need to look at the big picture, and most GPs do not, unfortunately. Insulin, glucose, central adiposity, lipid profile (i.e. Triglycerides and Cholesterol), blood pressure, etc. The vast majority of people do not check these things, so they have no clue if they are sick or not. And let's not get started with Vit D...do you know your 25 OH D level? Have you ever in your life had a Vitamin D blood test? I helped both my parents, and my wife resolve a deficiency. A healthy range is 50-80 ng/ml.

@@mjwilliamsb2676 That's an ideal 25 OH D level, and I am pleased to hear that you know your D status. If your sister is able to significantly reduce her intake of refined grains, refined sugar, and highly processed seed oils, she will reverse her pre-diabetic status in a matter of weeks. Type 2 diabetes is really all about carbohydrate intolerance, as well as excessive consumption of linoleic acid (omega 6 fatty acids). The disease progression can be reversed with the appropriate dietary and lifestyle changes. Even a 10 min walk a day can make a world of a difference.

Thanks again Dr. John for another outstanding talk. I have been Type 2 for many years and always managed to control my blood glucose level through diet and exercise - until I got COVID in early March 2020. I had a mild case, I had flu-like symptoms, spent four days resting in bed and was fine, but fatigued afterwards. However, I had a very hard time keeping my blood glucose below 10 mmol/l afterwards. I was put on gliclazide by my doctor as my HbA1c was 84 mmols/mol. After watching one of your talks about the positive effects of Vitamin D, I started taking 2,000 - 3,000 units a day, I am off medication and my HbA1c is down to 61.

Many of the virus & long haul symptoms mirror Thiamine Deficiency (Beri Beri). Diabetics are often very low in Thiamine compared to non-diabetics anyway, so often need far more Thiamine & it’s companion B vitamins. I reversed my ‘diabetic’ neuropathy 13 years ago by dumping nutrient-robbing highly refined wheat & sugar, adopting a whole food diet & adding good amounts of B vitamins. Our modern diet often uses up far more Thiamine than it supplies, so many out there may already have metabolic syndrome/insulin resistance without being aware of it. Diabetes is rapidly becoming an epidemic. This article is interesting. jeffreydachmd.com/thiamine-deficiency-and-diabetes/

He might have already had a degree of insulin resistance - which is never tested for until you actually become diabetic. The blood sugar remains pretty normal, but it takes increasing amounts of insulin to get it back down - until the insulin output reaches maximum capacity but is still not enough to get the blood sugar down any more, & hey presto! You ‘suddenly’ have developed diabetes. How many people already had undetected insulin resistance when they caught the virus? The nutritional drain on the body triggered by the extreme stress & trauma & elevated energy requirement of the virus might just be enough to tip their existing IR into full-blown diabetes…….

@@thefaeriechannel2080 I suspect any vaccine may well trigger a huge drain on the nutritional body bank. Every function & process in the body is driven by minerals, vitamins & phytonutrients. Any stress or trauma to the body - & vaccinations could very well trigger stress, as it basically is a ‘foreign body’ in the bloodstream - ‘gobbles up’ nutrients like B vitamins. Magnesium, etc extremely rapidly. And an abject deficiency, especially B Vitamins, Thiamine etc may well contribute to insulin resistance & ultimately diabetes.

Viruses can cause diabetes. At my work two individuals with acquired diabetes one got it from the flu the other Mumps. Both are disgusted they didn't get a vaccine for either when available. So, it is likely many will get from COVID-19 and if they denied a vaccine, will have similar regrets.

This is not a new concept. The link between viral infections and induction of autoimmune DM has been considered since 1975. A slew of viruses have been implicated including parvovirus, enteroviruses, hep C, etc as well as bacterial and fungal infections. A rise in incidence of DM following pandemics has previously been documented. COVID-19 doing the same is not necessarily unique.

It is not that covid causes diabetes, it is just those that are borderline or at the tipping level become sicker. Also, blood sugar level is not always the best way to diagnose prediabetics, in those cases a high insulin level is the best diagnosis of insulin resistance for prediabetes.

Non diabetics will come down to regular values in an hour or two, whereas for diabetics it will take a lot longer time and/or rest at a much higher reading. Use the meter if using a friends equipment, 2 hours after regular meal. A GP may initiate a HbA1c which only takes 5-10 minutes. If that is abnormally high, GP may get a complete bloodworks for lab analysis.

I have a question though ... it was noted that spike proteins were found in the blood even though they were supposed to remain attached to cells around the injection site? All seems well since it is thought that antibodies presumably have eradicated them eventually. My question is, could it be possible that not all spike proteins were eliminated by the antibodies but rather migrated to other organs, including the islet of langerhans? How would these spike proteins affect the function of their host organs?

😕☝ I sense we won't have much of a choice! We are living in a Orwellian autocracy with the political classes creating neo-feudalism for us & the next generation. Technocratic fascism from Silicon-valley has also taken over as our mind control masters & we have lost touch with nature. Can we stop this cruel agenda? I hope so, but only when we get back to traditional values & natural ways of living. Social media is a cruel master, but a useful servant. So we should use it wisely.🙏

The best thing to do is get health insurance, so that if you get whisked away to a hospital and have to £2k plus at least you will be covered . Can you imagine the fear induced if a 10 year old child gets the cold ? - the old cure was fresh air exercise and a whiskey toddy before bed ,so that you would sweat it out - now you won’t get near a doctors surgeries for kids and the elderly with the good ole cold !

When elevated or uncontrolled blood glucose is noticed, you have been diabetic for 10 years or more with chronically high insulin levels keeping a lid on it. I'm guessing the bug somehow makes the liver produce more glucose but the already high insulin cannot keep up. So these folks were already undiagnosed T2D. We should learn to diagnose T2D much earlier based on insulin and c peptide measurements. Other signs: belly fat, high blood pressure, fatty liver etc.

If your insulin production is enough to dispose of the glucose then a simple glucose test will not show the building insulin resistance (diabetes) and the resulting high insulin levels. It is the high insulin that does the damage and that could easily be going on for at least 10 years. Drs need to test the fasting insulin level and test for insulin resistance. Even the A1C doesnt really tell much.

@@mjwilliamsb2676 the point he is making is that diabetes isn’t best to be first diagnosed via glucose levels but via insulin levels. For those w early metabolic syndrome x the insulin levels spike a decade (or 2 decades or more) before the cells of the body get so resistant to insulin that glucose levels rise along with the insulin levels. It’s the same ‘ disease’ and the lines drawn to separate healthy from pre-diabetic and actual diabetic by glucose numbers are arbitrary (tho of course not without its uses). The disease is indeed a spectrum and if we included insulin testing (HOMA-IR test) in annual check ups like we do glucose (particularly A1C) we will diagnose the syndrome x in its earliest stages

Dr. Jason Fung has a lot of lectures about the benefits of fasting in fighting diabetes. He addresses the high percentage of diabetics in China and India too, mentioning that most of those people are not fat, and therefore don't fit the old idea of what a diabetic looks like-- but a "modern" diet of processed foods and high fructose corn syrup in drinks is to blame. As a child, I remember it was _three meals a day_ and if you were bad, you got sent to bed _without_ supper. Nobody starved to death. Nowadays we're bombarded with ads for snack bars and sugary drinks that you supposedly need to give you energy between meals!

For me, the non-checkup doctor's appointment would run $126 (after the health insurance deduction), and since the test would be non-medically necessity the insurance would probably not pay for it... so the cost of the test and the lab reading would probably be over $100.

Don't you suppose that since the most common comorbidity as an indicator or hospitalization/mechanical ventilation/death is obesity that it is possible, particularly in the developing world, that many of the 14.4% newly diagnosed with diabetes already had diabetes when contracting COVID19? Many people with Type II Diabetes have elevated Hemoglobin A1C figures for YEARS prior to diagnosis, even in developed countries with robust public health systems. I'm not suggesting that the possibility of COVID19 triggering their diabetes isn't real, but I wanted to suggest that some proportion of the patients in the studies were receiving comprehensive medical care for the very first time after developing serious disease with COVID. While hospitalized, their blood sugar was analyzed and they were diagnosed.

My entire family is tall and slender. I will say we do suffer from ailments of blood pressure and heart disease. I will say I was recently screened for menopause and was put on estrogen. One of my family members had significant increase in need for medication to manage their diabetes post COVID and a friend who developed diabetes post COVID. The friend who acquired diabetes had a ended up with a serious leg clot and has had long lasting post COVID complications.

It sounds unfortunately like they’ve got longcovid. A fellow sufferer here that was on blood thinners for high d dimer and suspected PE, it really messes up your circulation. I hope they recover soon 🤞

I know someone in Florida of Indian descent who now needs Insulin because of Covid damage. This guy was not a diabetic and then he got pretty severe covid and now he is completely insulin dependent.
