Covid and Chemo

Thank you for supporting those of us with compromised immune systems. I appreciate you wearing a mask for me. I appreciate all the support and prayers and encouragement that you give me, please don’t forget to give it to all the others who might be suffering with the same thing.

Good to see you Shannon :) Enjoy having your kids home - along with their washing 😂 and your increased water bill 😂😂 I say that, but it’ll be worth that for you to all be together again. And you can breathe that sigh of relief when they go again 😉😂 Keep smiling and keep the updates coming x thinking of you :) Hayley x

Hi Shannon, you are so sweet and I just think amazing; I’m happy you’ll be with your kids! Don’t worry about them cooking, when I was 20ish, I made Easter dinner from canned Spam😳, just scraped off that gelatin gunk, scored the top and decorated it with cloves and pineapples! I’m 66 now, and sometimes when we’re all together someone will bring that up! Gotta laugh! Have fun with your family and as always you’ll be in my prayers, sending you good vibes✌️

Hi Again Shannon. Thanks for the post on pain. I've stopped trying to be a martyr and have upped the painkillers. Much more pleasant. Regarding the injection for the white blood cell count, I also get this. After a chance discussion with the hospital pharmacist he suggested it would be fine to get the injection at the same time I came in for my disconnect which the oncologist agreed would be ok. I've been doing that for about 6 months with no adverse effects that I know of. Just thought I'd mention it in case you wanted to discuss it with your oncologist as I know the trips to the hospital really start to wear thin after a while. Have a wonderful time with your children and good luck with the cooking classes. X

Hope you have a great time teaching your kids how to cook some fabulous meals! I would love to be able to do that all over again! It turns out that both my boys are good cooks and both my daughter-in-laws do not cook! Lol, so they must have learned something by living with me. Hang in there sweet girl and please let us know how everything's going as much as you can!

Hey Shannon, Enjoy the outdoors even though it looks like the sun is not shining there. I really had to laugh about your kids. Tbh I am sometimes too kazy to cook anything else than pasta... I am wearing my masks as best as possible and I get angry when people dont cover their nose or dont do it at all. You and my dad are in danger but even I could be without me knowing. It shows how much they care for each other. My dad had his liver surgery. The metastases are out! 22nd June the colon with the tumor gets out. Finally! Since Saturday the tumor is hurting him again and I am afraid that the chemo break is too long and everything will start again. And you are right: if you just hear around there are so many people with cancer. The street I live in has my dad with colon, then our neighbours had/have pancreatic, breast, testicular, brain cancers. My sisters best friend had no graduation because of chemotherapy due to breast cancer. You are always sad because they are such nice people and dont deserve, you feel lucky that you dont have it and then you do get the diagnosis. I hope the pain in your elbow will get less. All the best and stay safe!

I had my first colonoscopy at 50. Did you? My mom had stage 3 colon cancer but survived. What killed her, so to speak, was when the doctor put in her port, he accidentally cut her artery rendering her dead for 10 minutes. They cracked her open and messaged her heart. She survived but her heart was never the same. 1 year before her death, she had open heart surgery. The doctors at the Cleveland Clinic said her aortic valve was the size of a pin. She had brain damage after the 13 hour surgery. She lived 2 more years. Cancer is a vile disease. You look well..keep it up and don't skim on the pain meds. There is no heroic medal for suffering

My prayers go out to you! What a horrible story! I was 48 when they found it so I wasn’t able to get a colony yet.

@@shannonwarr3625 Thank you. She lived to 84 though. As far as care giving, it was my pleasure and honor to help take care if her. It led me from teaching to a second career as a professional home care assistant with Home Instead. It was an amazing journey, filled with love, to take care of her. When she died, it was peaceful and painless. She was given palliative sedation and passed after 2 days. I felt her presence for two years. She promised to look over me and I know she did. Death is just the beginning. And, I must add, I have been with several patients as they died. There was an energy that I can't explain. There was almost a whoosh of energy as they left. I came to call it birth in reverse
