My three goals to complete in the following week: 1. Get better with my circuits in preparation for my practical test coming up 2. Better at showing my wife my love for her each day. 3. To give God more of my time each day.

So, the update is: 1. I’ve gotten better with the circuits handling the GPS and getting setup for the next approach quickly. 2. Still working on it... I feel like my thinking is stuck in “immature gear”. 3. I am giving more time to God ....but, it’s not really a brag because it’s not that much more time to HIM. Working on it. I’m not giving up, I’m also working on pushing more weights III-III Thank you to everyone who’s commented. I didn’t think it’d matter to me but your comments have all made an impact with me.

This certainty is a crazy time in aviation, but I agree that the biggest opportunity ever is just around the corner!

It’s crazy how much has changed since 9 months ago. I’ve known several people to get it and 2 people who died. I still think air travel will bounce back in March and April, but this goes to show how impossible it is to predict the future.

My airline recently went under due to loss of flying with Covid-19. I was a flight attendant for a regional carrier. I was devastated but I had to change my mindset and realize this is a time for me and most of us to hit the restart button. I am now studying to take my FAA written for my private pilot certificate. As you just said. This is the time to STUDY! All I have now is time at home in quarantine. I think this is the best time to become a pilot! I'm ready!

Great video Jon. YOu inspired me to enter my Aviatin goals: Here's they are, if anyone cares 1. This year: I passed my IFR Written and want to pass check ride end of summer 2. This week: do well on my next IFR flight lesson which is partial panel unusual attitude. A side goal is to not throw up during this. I'll bring a bottle of ginger ale 3. Following week: Get my antique elite simulator running

Stick with it and you'll be fine! Always going to be road bumps for any industry, aviation is a great place to be entering into now even if it feels like timing is off by a few months.

I needed to hear this, thank you. 1)learn about housing market, because it’s going to drop soon. 2)Finish up lesson plans for CFI rating, already have my knowledge test completed to include AGI. I was at the end of my CFI rating was going to refresh on maneuvers and such that’s when the school shut down. 3) refresh on my instrument flying (rules and regulations) since it’s been a couple years now I’ve actually even filed an IFR flight plan.

FLY8MA, I would venture to say all humans that look into the skies are born aviators. We don’t look to the ground, we always look beyond and dream beyond ground 0. This was a great message and I am an optimist til the day I give up my grave. Your message and ideology resonates in me as well.

I got a message that US embassies are closed literally in process of filling an application for M-1 visa (with fees already paid). I got prepared on theory at home and was going to fly to Miami for PPL. But I ain't giving up! Hello X-Plane, hello VATSIM! In a year I will come to Miami and nail this PPL course down in a month easily! BTW John I hope to meet you there for a cup of beer or a can of coffee while building my solo hours!

Excellent video! I have seen very few people make videos that approach this issue (covid and/or aviation) in a measured and calm manner. I'm a strong believer in facts, and you couldn't have delivered them better in this talk. As a new commercial pilot, I'm very interested in the future of aviation. GOOD LUCK AND KEEP GOING JOB'S ARE AROUND BUT YOU HAVE TO BE WILLING TO GO TO THE JOB. THAT IS THE DOWNSIDE OF BEING A PILOT.

I've been getting ready to get my private pilot's license, got an instructor picked out and have been studying the written. However, I do need to get my Class 3 medical first, and this has thrown a big fat delay in everything. I'm not looking at an aviation career however - I'm actually in the health care field, so I won't be idle at all during this time. Stay healthy, and thanks for your videos.

Ground instructor! Duh! I've been kicking that around. Looks like I'll have plenty of time to study. Time to get to work! Thanks for the great words, my friend. Good luck on that there boat.

John I enjoy your videos and this inspirational message is right on time!!! I am studying your online ground school and too have been wondering what's going to happen to aviation. Amidst the storm is the calm if we have faith and stay positive. I am following the new trend major airlines are doing to work with flight academies to get you to PIC, I hope they will soon pay for all the training because especially in the times were living getting into such a huge loan is a serious thing. Thank you Jon for those positive words.. I took you Instrument Ground School course and passed the FAA Written with a 80% score, I've racked up 35.4 hours of Sim Instrument time (18hrs with CFII), 60.8 hrs of PIC XC and now the Coronavirus hits... I was so ready to wrap up this instrument rating and go right into my commercial and hopefully be working as a pilot by the summer.. Now that will possibly be put on hold, but thank you for the encouragement... I'm going to continue what I started just like nothing ever happened... Thanx again.. You guys are awesome over there at Fly8MA..!!! You guys really do answer the phone to answer our questions, and the last call that I made I actually got to speak with you personally, which was a honor.. Take Care Everyone...!!!! Nice vid I’m in school to become a pilot have 13hrs so far should be soloing soon and I feel this pandemic will be good for new pilots by the time we get our hrs we will be coming in at the bottom of the wave and will be able to hopefully ride the wave to the top

My goal within following 3weeks is completed all instrument instructors task and pass my initial as CFII I’ve already passed my FOI, IGI, CFI, CFII written, I should complete my AGI, and then duck my head fire up to kill all task, get fully understanding from the PTS, And then I will pass my CFII check ride! That’s my goal within following 3 weeks

So if I interpret your statements correctly, we are on a long-haul flight and are going through severe turbulence right now. Keep our seat belts fastened, and obey crew instructions because smoother weather is just up ahead. Try to use the time we have as a captive audience wisely because we cannot get wasted time back. The three people in the front of the plane have been tasked with getting us through this storm, and are working hard on our behalf to weather it as they have been trained to do. Their previous experiences landing planes in the face of opposing winds informs them on how better to get this one on the ground safely as well. But before they do, the crew telling us to stay in our seats will bring us food (fuel for the body). Once we land, most of us can get back to some semblance of normalcy and we will forge ahead as in times past. Ok, got it! Roger. Over and out! Thanks, Captain!

Good analysis!

Pilots dont quit! Air transportation will always be in demand. People need to travel. It will just be alot less people on your plane thats all and the planes will become alot smaller over time. The salaries will proportionately get much lower because of the greatly reduced revenue, but the demand will never cease! So dont give up !

Getting my commercial pilot license IS my career change! My problem is that the plan I had to pay my way through training is out the window, due to the fact that my part time job was tied to people travelling. So, the big thing I have to work with now is continue training as soon as the flight schools are open and forget about the debt build up or hold off until I can build up more financial security. Time is always of the essence! At this point, I am studying for my CPL written before starting work on my IFR written.

Great speech, however, while we'd all love to fly again soon, reality bites, I know many career pilots have decided to quit aviation.

I'm going to read my FAA flying handbook cover to cover.

Haven’t watched the video yet but figuring without college you’ll need 1500 hours. So if your flight training it’ll take at least 24 months to get to the 1500 required (according to my instructor) to become a pilot. By time I get to that level I feel like it’ll be a great opportunity. And even better if you have college credits and you only need the 1k-1200 I think. Shave’s off a few months. ALSO you don’t have to fly passengers, cargo and government pilots will be in demand.

FIA, FOI, and FII knocked out during the quarantine. Looking forward to flying again.

As a current CFI this video means a lot to me, I’ve been freaking out and been feeling kinda sad because I couldn’t believe that 2 months ago it was the best time to be a pilot and now everything is the complete opposite :(

Finally bought my first stock in my life: Delta ! It can’t get any worse .PS: it was 100 bucks... went from $20 bucks a share to $32 today!! Next up CFI checkride!! After my flight school opens up for business in 30 days!
