AKG C636 (Master Reference) microphone and also the Fender Starcaster (reissue). I nearly sold my '76 Strat when the Starcaster came out in the 70's, as I was jazz curious. The only sample in the shop at the time, had a large gap around the neck pocket, which led me to question quality control... I stayed with my Strat. Lo & behold, Fender came up with this reissue (Crafted in China) a few years ago, and it has no such quality issues. I'm a single coil man, but these wide-range humbuckers are a tad single coil-like, and go as far into humbucker land as I want to go. The semi-hollow body adds a bit of jazz authenticity sonically and visually, even if my playing doesn't... hey-ho.
