It is weird how they destroyed OP's life for so many years and he went back to them without making them realize how he cannot be taken for granted. Sometimes it not about ego but it is a way to put across your message to such people who think they can do things without thinking about the consequencesof their actions. It will not be long before OP will be used like a doormat by his family

I'm pretty sure i read this story and it went a little different he did not reconnect with his family in the original.

its fake. the real story was different. he never got back into them.
