Truely his brothers keeper and a master of his game. i am impressed and inspired to improve mi game in mi life watching Emanuel play with this young man, from the checkered flag he implied and reinforced the young hopefulls dreams of greatness with a proportionate show of respect in a productive display of skill and vigor, incouraging a vibrant response and will to raise his own level, perhapse cut a little baby fat off while at the same time detorque, stop drop n roll, let himself go, just feel n flow. It's plane for all to see Emanual loves the game and wants nothing more than to inspire the very best, the most, the absolute maximum effort, intent, attention, perseption and will to perform, improve, expand and bend, persist and perservere, to be so committed to the game he shall go even until the very end! Emanuel knows himself well, but he knows his opponent also and i believe, at the end of the day, the whole of his intent is to show this, to grow this, to peel the skin off and reveal the steel that lies just benieth the surface of every really real warrior. Truely a master of His game. Beautiful to watch 😎

Gotta love Teddy Atlas keeping it real
ffs ... hall of fame this guy deserves better ... make a movie on his journey ...one of the best ever styles I have seen...
Thats whats wrong with boxing, straight got robbed.. I like the commentators for sticking up Augustus and fighting for him..
His birthname is Burton, and when his parents married, he changed his name to Augustus (his father's name)
35:38 to 36:03. Augustus talking to people in crowd while slipping punches. What a gangster.

He truly earned his stripes He should have multiple belts and titles, I feel the judges were most unfair with Emanuel Augustus then any other fighter with his caliber of skill
this is embarrassing for boxing
Nothing better than Teddy Atlas and Joe Tessitore going OFF at the end. "WHERE IS THE DRAW?!?"
Emanuel Augustus had to fight Courtney Burton, the judges, the crowd, and the referee. Dude was a great boxer but got rob fight after fight on scorecards that hurt his career. Shame!
15:40 guarantee Burton’s corner is telling him to aim at his chest cause Augustus is slipping his punches. Augustus can hear them so he’s poking his chest out

And after watching this .. now you know why Emanuel's record is not better. He got robbed.. AGAIN! Teddy is correct. This type of travesty in refereeing & judging is what disgusts fans. Kelly is a piss poor ref.
I hate how Emanuel has been cheated his whole career. Most referees absolutely despise him but the audience love ‘em!
Baton Rouge legend. Folks who knew him from 14th St. Boxing (his old stomping grounds) said before he would spar. He would crank up the radio & start boxing with the rhythm of the music
@whatilearnttoday5295

It's definitely largely rhythm based. He doesn't even really need to be able to see. Sometimes he'll take breaks just to dance with the opponent and get in sync with their movements. Then starts punching between their punches.
It’s funny because It’s always an ascending fighter whose supposed to use Augustus as a stepping stone. Augustus then totally outshines them, and still somehow loses.
You hear even the hometown crowd booing the decision
Could watch him all day ,puts a smile on your face
Watching shit like this makes me wonder why ANY of us continue to accept boxing as a real "sport" with such an absurd level of blatant corruption.
Teddy had the greatest reaction to this decision ever. Im so glad he took those officials to school on live tv!
Emanuel has one of the worse records in boxing but the best skills.

At the beginning of the video im contemplating how Burton's prefight briefing about Augustus went: Trainer to Burton "Alright you gotta be careful, this guy likes to dance." Burton responds "Ok, and? I can dance lol, footwork ain't no problem" Trainer again: "No, you dont understand..... this guy likes to dance.... literally!" *shows video of Augustus destroying opponents whilst dancing*.... "This may be a problem" 😂😂

Joe Tessitore and Teddy Atlas are one of the best commentators duo ever, all sports combined! That official must still do nightmare from that incounter hahah
Teddy's outrage is our own
Hating on that man style its a good style the ref should be ashamed of himself straight robbed
The way this unfolded at the end was beautiful. It was awesome to see the commentators not just stand up on air for the fighter who should of won but actually face to face call out the officials on national television on camera for the world to see. If every corrupt judge and sanctioning body was called out and put on blast on the spot like this on national tv they would stop doing it from fear of being put on the spot immediately and embarrassed.
This was Atlas and Tessitore at their best.
Honestly, I wish some high level fighters would get together and set this guy up for a nice retirement, just raise some funds and make sure he's got the basics covered. Hold a fundraiser, set up a trust, and a financial advisor, so he don't get fleeced.. Ward, Floyd, Atlas, even Roy Jones (whom he emulated from time to time), Agustus is hall of fame material.. But somebody start a go fund me for this man, I'd throw down a few bucks to get him on his feet and the recognition the man deserves..
Clearly a one-sided fight...right from the start...the ref. Was nuts..😂
I remember laying in the joint in the 90s watching these fights , take me way back .

Augustus the most underrated boxer of all time..
Haha! A true tribute to a Real Man, a Real sportsman, a real Master with no ego, no malice, no shame, no loss of love for his brother.
That was a great performance from Augustus imo.. I personally had it 10-0 in rounds for Augustus, just my opinion.. Anyway, thank you for uploading the fight.
"He takes it to the next level. But that's not helping him." Why do we destroy beauty?
44:37 “he won this damn fight”
Kudos to the commentators tearin the ref a new 1
45:46...the fact that an “official boxing comissioner” is arguing with the commentators (and is wrong in his arguement), every major boxing body (WBA, IBF, etc) should NEVER have a fight in Michigan until they clean things up
No way man! Augustus should've won that by a country mile! Disgraceful! And to top it off an "official" had no idea what he was scoring! Come on!
They would get mad at Augustus because he was called in to lose. And he always had the audacity to actually win. But the judges or ref would steal it from him anyways.
Teddy Atlas is pissed, as he should be, smh.
The best thing that came out of this fight, DAN KELLY NEVER REFEREED ANOTHER FIGHT EVER !!!!!
It's funny that this fight could have been Burton vs Burton. 😅
This is why I’d NEVER bet on sports. Winner is who THEY WANT to win. And they would do whatever it takes to make it so

In retrospect Augusta should be considered for the boxing Hall of Fame, his record should not be an issue especially when they induct people into it that never even laced on a pair of gloves.
Thank you, Teddy for telling the truth. Atlas was the ghetto version of Howard Cosell.
This is the reason why boxing is cruel.. this guy deserves every credit.. dude you rob someone's dream.. this may not be that super fight but dude thus guy is amazing.. he won the fight.. i can't really imagine if the ref still sleeps calmly after this fight.. what a shame!!

Emanuel Augustus won this fight and I'm from Michigan
One of the best ever. Career ruined by jealous limited minded people who could not stand a man in the ring with uniques skills that even made Mickey Ward look like an amateur at times. One of the thousands of matches that shows what's wrong with boxing, Canelo vs GGG...etc...
Emanuel Augustus should be where Mayweather is right now. Money isn't everything but the heart in Emanuel's fight, yes I said it backwards. His Heart had it's own fight, he put his soul into the ring by dancing his own tune. Without the showboating he is a great fighter, in my opinion much better than Floyd Mayweather Jr.
I watched this fight when it originally aired and I still feel the same about the corruption in boxing… the deck was stacked against Augusta. I can’t believe the amount of rabbit punches thrown in front of the referee that was completely ignored.

This ref needs to get KO'd💯 Is this a joke?!
Teddy was right. We recently lost Emmanuel and that's too bad for us.He was a damned good fighter and according to FMJ,"the toughest fight he ever had" Teddy is right. When you see a boxer absolutely dismantle another boxer and watch that boxer lose because he's not a hometown favorite, you lose interest. Emmanuel got penalized because he was unorthodox,so what.If he follows the Marquis of Queensbury rules he isn't doing anything wrong. If he wants to dance and incorporate capoeira in his boxing style so be it. This was the worst robbery ever, worse than Pacquiao/Bradley 1 or Whittaker/Chavez

JOE BLOW Alot of these "judges" are old school and know boxing only one way they were too small minded to understand emmanuel's dancing and showboating was calculated , dancing has a hypnotic effect on the mind and it can distrupt your timing and along with the showboating can demoralize and / or anger your oppostion causing them to either mentally checkout or fight more aggressive leaving them open to counters ingenius really , Augustus was well ahead of his time with that drunken style and considering he NEVER fought amatuer or watched film it's remarkable he even had the career he had , taking fights on short notice sometimes sick or injured never held grudges or played politics , he's one of the greatest lightweights ever in my book but with proper training , managment and promotion he would of been recognized as one of greatest fighters ever if you can make floyd mayweather jr say " I never wanna see that guy again " your pretty fuckin good but the refs of the day didn't see it that way...
