Biggs had a pretty good career really. Won a gold medal, challenged for a world title. Only the really top guys could stop it.

@James Ross Well they usually did up to and including title shots. Then they were just glad to win the belt and trained off of drugs and hookers. But once Tyson came to the scene they felt a victory over him meant instant fame, more so than winning the title.

80s heavyweight criminally underrated. highly competitive, everyone was beating each other. people look back at that was a bad thing.... to me it showed how good they all were. no one was dominating outside of Holmes and Tyson. Great Era. after the 70s i think the 80s was the best.

To me I think the 90’s crop of heavy weights was better. Holyfield, Riddick Bowe and an out of prime but not yet washed up Tyson, George Foreman, Michael Moorer, Lennox Lewis and a lot of other good guys like Botha David Tua Chris Byrd Bert Cooper Tommy Morrison

We should give credit to him..along his wonderful career....

Nah! He just didn't have the raw talent to unseat the greats. He wasn't beating Bruno, Lewis, Tyson, Bowe, Foreman, Holyfield, Ruddock, etc. He might've had a chance against a Mercer, Moorer, McCall, Morrison (damn that's alot M's 😂). He was a second tier gate keeper to the champs. Solid fighter overall.

Biggs only a pro for a year and looked pretty sensational here. Boxing was hyping up Biggs as the Ali of the 80's and on a crash course with Mike Tyson.

@@edp4638 I agree. Many 80's heavies were called the next Ali. That style flooded the heavyweight scene from the late 70's onwards. Page and Biggs were part of that wave. Tillis, Tubbs, Tucker, Douglas, were some of the others.

Amateurs (1) fight to win 3 rounds, so don't work the body a lot, (2) look for eye-catching punches, rather than e.g. short painful blows, and (3) don't go for knockouts so much. Biggs also tended to punch and get ready to slip at the same time. He could have been a harder puncher (with those long limbs, he could have even had Lennox Lewis-style power) but tended to "paint" his opponents rather than punch through the target.
