So my question is how do you bill for something like this where the initial fix didn't work. It's time consuming to r&r a turbo. I wrestle with this in my business all the time. What's fair to both the shop and the owner? Also what year/series of VW where you couldn't lock the keys in the truck? I know on my 2002 you couldn't lock the keys in the interior either.

In this situation we didn't charge for the 2nd R&R. Other shops may do it different and thats ok too. Its a tough decision. The one we couldn't lock the key in the trunk was a 2012 I believe. It was a "push button" to start car. Oh, usually on the old ones you can lock the key in it, if you do it from the passenger side.
Did you ever try using oven cleaner grouch the EGR tube? I have been told it works but I have never tried. Living up in rust belt is Canada it is a big pain in the rear to remove the turbo

it might work on some. I've never tried. As a shop I have to guarantee its fixed. I feel like disassembling it and mechanically cleaning it is the best bet, but obviously it didn't fix this one. Understand the dealer and most shops sell a new turbo when the vanes stick.

CoolAirVw Rm I hear you about making sure it’s fixed. I was just wondering if you had tried that method perhaps on one of the lads cars or a shop car perhaps? Anyhow glad to see you have some of the many problems we have up north in Canada
Good jub

thanks for watching our channel. 'Appreciate the compliment.
I’m struggling with a VW T5 2.5L with an overboost issue. I’ve replaced the turbo and the solenoid. But it still cuts into limp mode at higher speeds. Any ideas ?

have you made any checks like trouble codes or graphing boost or vacuum checks? Did you watch the other P0234 videos on my channel?
I have this code on my a3 bxe 1.9 had a reconditioned turbo from a specialist installed just before Christmas 😅 so I'm slightly annoyed

It is commonly stated on the internet that actuator should start moving by 3 inch and reach the stop by 18-20 inch of vacuum.
So nice German engineering

Yes it is! Awesome piece of machinery! I just drove one of these cars on a trip and got 40 plus mpg! 75 plus mph AC running full blast through ozark mountains!
Great video. I have this problem with my mk4 TDI. It has the code p0234. Something that I noticed is that my car is missing the exhaust pipe that connects under it the EGR valve. It was taken off and put metal plates covering holes. Can this be the reason for the over boost condition? My car also has over pressure in coolant system it keeps pushing coolant out of the reservoir tank. Does it have something to do with the overboost problem? Or maybe blown head gasket? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I doubt those "plates" are causing your issues, unless they are leaking exhaust. They are probably due to EGR delete. Excess pressure in coolant is overheating or bad head gasket usually.
You sure you found it!!!??? LOL
