And thank you both for checking this legendary band, performing here at Wacken Open Air festival 2013, together with Floor Jansen, the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of a 82k audience. Also a recent sad news - these days Marco Hietala, the bass player and male singer of the band, announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. As I saw you enjoyed this powerful performance of the band, together with the stellar vocals and charisma of our Dutch metal queen, Floor Jansen. Comparing her to Pat Benatar and with Queen was a nice touch. Hope you'll continue on this path. You two are fun to watch. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). Floor is the very definition of a Viking Goddess; I would happily follow her to the Gates of Hell itself, for she is simply that inspiring to me & her voice awakens the spirit of adventure & excitement in my soul... @@redsampler2017 I know it's a common gag, which is exactly why I don´t understand from where it came. The Netherlands was Frankish and Saxon, and suffered a LOT under Viking raids.

Floor Jansen is a classically trained Dutch singer. She sings everything from death metal to opera! There's nothing she can't do. If you want to go down that rabbit hole, she appeared on a Dutch tv show in 2019 called Beste Zangers (best singers). She also has a bunch of music covers on KZread in a variety of genres. Plus, there's all the great Nightwish music.

Floor isn’t classically trained, she went to a Rock Academy in Tilburg... she had classical lessons after the Academy pure to satisfy her general interest for music and the vocal techniques. She even stated herself in an interview she was never interested to have a pure classical training.

Floor Jansen started studying music at the Dutch Rock Academy in 1999, entering the Conservatorium Tilburg three years later. She studied musical theatre and a year of opera.👀

Haha it's always awesome to see people in other countries enjoying one of our most famous bands. When I was young, American rock music made the Finnish youth wild, now it is the other way around.. Finnish groups having fans all around the globe. Greetings from Finland!

Yes Nightwish are best live especially with this singer, Floor Jansen, only with band 10 months and learned their set mid tour in 48 hours !! 82,000 crowd most of whom had never heard her sing with Nightwish were blown away.

I've only had the pleasure of seeing them live once (I live in Australia, and they don't get out here much) and it was on this tour. We hadn't even heard that Annette had left the band but when Floor hit the stage..... my god!

Welcome to the world of symphonic metal, represented here by Nightwish, with almost all composition by the keyboard player, Tuomas, and fronted by the incredible Floor Jansen. This was the 13th of 15 songs in this legendary headlining set at Wacken Open Air rock festival, in front of an 82,000+ audience. As headliners, they had exclusivity, which other performers at the festival do not enjoy, as none of the other stages were active while they were playing. They had been on stage for around 70 minutes at the start of this song. Clearly, to get the headline spot at a festival of this stature, you have to be a major attraction, and Nightwish are, but this was their greatest triumph to that date. Supporting acts included Alice Cooper and Anthrax, to give some idea. And Floor Jansen was brought in mid-tour as an emergency replacement 10 months earlier, learning the setlist in 48 hours while flying from The Netherlands to meet up with Nightwish in Salt Lake CIty. This song was not in te setlist at the time, but she liked it and in the first few days, rearranged it for her own voice, added the phenominal ending, and persuaded the band to try her arrangement on 10th Oct 2012, having first stepped onto the stage with them on the 1st after a single rehearsal earlier in the day. It hasn't been out of the setlist since, and is still her favourite. To hear her vocals being challenged, you really need to go to some of the later material written with her voice in mind, where she will really blow your minds! There is no more versatile female vocalist on earth, and the only way she can't sing is badly. I see Gabriel Bardac has already commented, and you may wish to pin his comment so that you can find it for reference - it has great links to further songs by Nightwish collectively and Floor Jansen individually, as wll as a brief history of the band.

Welcom in fantastic world of Nightwish. You just meet Floor Jansen. This song is like 30%-40% of her vocal skills. Her versatility is legendary. From pop music, thru rock, heavy metal (even death metal growl) to opera sing. She is singing what she wants not what she is able to. The reason it feels like such a production is because it truly is..thats why they are called "symphonic metal" because they really have created an entire symphony around the core of the song. I dont even think this is one of nightwishes top songs but it's still amazing none the less. Great reaction. 😁

The entire concert at Wacken 2013 is a breakthrough experience what live music is all about. One of the best Rock/Metal concerts I've ever seen, at least worth a "Hall of Fame" entry. I was always waiting for a "B-side" song to go to toilet, yet there was none. Tha band started at 100% at their first song and maintained that intensity til the end. P.S. They were already more than a hour in, when that song came.

You have just witnessed Floor Jansen, from the Netherlands, the best female voice on the planet....

I've NEVER heard a Voice as absolutely Beautiful, Powerful & Emotional as FLOOR'S. She has the ability to make you cry with awe & pleasure. She's the Greatest... IMO.

Most, if not all, Nightwish songs are composed according to classical music schemes - there are the full story and intensity developed there. Absolutely perfect storytelling. And also, this is one of those bands that are better in live performances (not saying that their studio records are bad or smth, because there are perfect) - it's an incredible sum of different factors: band members personalities, mastership in their craft, visuals, piro, orchestra background. Tuomas (keyboard player and the leader - responsible for all those music and lyrics) is a perfectionist and sad once, he wants to deliver to the audience the best music experience - an unforgettable theatrical show. This band is on the market for over 20 years and they basically created this "symphonic metal" genre. And if you go down into this rabbit hole, you will be surprised what wonders you can find there ;)

Finally!!! But, you opened up a rabbit hole. Every live performance Nightwish has done with Floor is absolutely amazing!

Definitely want to hear more Nightwish reactions. They are amazing. And definitely more Floor Jansen. (She is one of the greatest singers in the world) Would love to hear you all react to “Storytime”, “Everdream”, or “Dark Chest of Wonders” all from the Wacken 2013 Concert. Also, please check out Floor Jansen’s solo cover of the song “Oblivion” on her KZread channel. It’s phenomenal. Floor is awesome... she has one of the best voices I’ve ever heard.

Nightwish is one of the few bands that live is better than studio 90% of the time.

Two more souls swept away by our Valkyrie goddess. Floor Jansen (pronounced Yan-sen) is the best female vocalist today. She can sing any style, any genre. Yes, she is classically trained. Great reaction, liked the energy. You like intensity, Nightwish has unlimited energy, at least so it seems. Some songs will make you feel like you are on top of the world and others will pull at your heart strings. Gabriel's list is a good progression to become more familiar with the band, how they interact with each other and their fans. This is a deep rabbit hole to go down, but it is well worth it. Subbed to join you on your Nightwish journey. Enjoy the ride.

Great reaction, this concert is one of the best concerts ever. And Floor Jansen is out of this world. 20 years she is for me the best female singer ever, first with her bands After Forever and ReVamp, and for the last 8 years with Nightwish. And her solo shows last year in the Netherlands were fantastic as well.

First off, you guys seem to be an adorable couple. Welcome to the wonderful world of Nightwish the greatest band on the planet. This band does not make bad songs, every song you hear by them you will like more or less, but they do not make bad music. Every song different, all played by masters of their crafts. If you stay on this ride, you will never regret it, and we the Nightwish Army love when new people to this react and enjoy them as much as we do. Tuomas Holopainen is the keyboardist and composer, he writes 90-95% of all music, lyrics, and adds in sounds provided by London Philharmonic Orchestra. Floor Jansen, IMO, the greatest vocalist ever. Marko, bassist and awesome vocalist. Emppu is lead guitarist and jokester. Emppu can shred like nobody's business, but only when it adds to the song. This Drummer is Jukka, who suffers from serious insomnia, but is awesome, replaced later by Kai Haito his friend and equally talented and legendary drummer. If you stick around a bit, you will also meet Troy, he is a multi-instrumentalist, that plays pipes and many other accent instruments. This rabbit hole runs deep and I welcome you.

I have often said that Floor reminds me of Pat Benitar in some ways. Floors level of ability overall is way above Pat Benitar's though. Most of us consider Floor to be the best female singer in a generation. The whole crowd was into it. Wait until your react to more Nightwish videos. If it was at Wacken those are the ones you want to react to.

So, you've now seen a small sample of what Floor can do. Hopefully you'll do more Nightwish on your channel. You're always fun to watch - I've seen a bunch of your comedy reactions - but if you really did like this video and want to see more of them, there is so much more to experience. This is symphonic metal and the added element of the symphony brings both a different dimension to the music, and I think, allows for it to have more of a musical theater effect on stage. This performance was number 13 of 15 that night, and the entire show was something to behold. The folks there are blessed to have seen it. Gabe's already been here, I see, and the Army is passionate. You won't lack for information on this band, for sure. Thanks, you two.

Regarding crowdsurfing: usually it's someone asking/willing to be lifted up. Many out of courtesy, they'll remove their big shoes (one dude was holding his boots) to prevent kicking someone in the head. If the the crowd is packed in like this, they can be up there for a long while. Usually they'll eventually head to the front and the security will help them down and come down on the other side of the barricade and ushered back to the general admission (in the back) to join the crowd again.

There's more happening in this one song than some bands have in their entire careers. So many different styles, but they all fit together so well. It's a masterpiece!

Welcome to the world of Symphonic metal.. Being symphonic metal allows them to take their music in several different directions... They have the longer grand, epic, scores like this one, but they also have several of the more classic metal style songs as well... and basically everything in between.. They even have songs with that hint of Celtic folk/rock kind of vibe... But no matter the basic style they are going for in the song, they will all have those signature symphonic elements that give the music that rich, full sound.. You are so correct, Nightwish is very much a Live experience.. Which is not a problem for reactors because there has to be about a hundred different Nightwish songs out there on KZread in an Official Live video format recorded from a performance from somewhere in the world.. Take your choice, the Nightwish Army loves it all..

The lead singer is called Floor Jansen and is from the Netherlands. She was born in 1981 and has been a professional metal singer all her adult life, starting out at 16 with her first band After Forever, which disbanded in 2009, founding and fronting a new band called ReVamp from 2010 to 2016. In 2012, she was asked by Nightwish to finish their tour with them as a stand-in since the band had parted ways with the former singer. She had 48 hours to learn the setlist on her way over to the US. After several months it became clear that she was a perfect fit for the band, and she became permanent. She studied music at the Rock Academy in Tilburg, Netherlands, and at a conservatory, where she specialized in musical theater, but also did a year of opera, and has worked as a vocal coach and singing teacher to support herself during more meagre times. She is the most versatile singer I know; she can sing opera, folk, rock, metal, jazz and can growl, and she can switch between those styles in a fraction of a second. Her stage presence you saw for yourselves; she's also 6 feet tall without heels. She is married to the drummer of Sabaton, who is nine years younger than her, and lives with him and their four-year old daughter on a small farm in Sweden with two horses, a pony, a lot of cats and (upcoming) a wolfhound. She mends her own fences on their farm and they grow their own veggies. She loves horseback riding, nature in general, is rather green, an atheist, and had a severe burnout when fronting and managing her old band ReVamp, from which she was just recovering when Nightwish called. She has been diagnosed (do you say diagnosed for this?) as being HSP (highly sensitive person), i.e. someone who has bad filtering for sensory impressions and needs more time to recover from busy-ness and general commotion. Her favorite workout music is Pantera.

Nightwish is above everything. No competitors at this level!
