Thank you Christina. We really thought so, and it seemed sort like we could identify with them. :-)

We've actually been watching some KZread on the big-screen TV also, and it has been pretty nice, because we can watch together, and without being cramped around a computer monitor. Glad you enjoyed this episode! I think it is a lovely statue, and the day was nearly perfect for video.

Thank you so much! It's mostly a matter of describing how the work makes you feel than anything else. Glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks Evan! It really struck me after videoing the statues and monuments in DC for the last five years just how different this one was. The setting really is about idyllic. It's so peaceful in this park, despite being something of a tourist attraction area. Life here is a very different experience.

Hi Paul and Bev.. I love this statue... It makes me think "Come grow old with me, the best is yet to be". I also love how they're holding hands... Thank you for sharing this!

Hey Robyn, thanks! Great to hear from you! We did find this particular work of art very touching. There was something very unexpected and sort of stunning about it just sitting there out away from everything else, looking out over the water with the expressions they are wearing. Glad you enjoyed this!!

Actually we haven't been there. Last time we were in that area we were videoing other things and simply didn't have time. Perhaps another time, but it's a long shot because museums often won't let you video inside. I don't know if this one would or not. And, it's just over a four hour drive EACH WAY for us, so considering 8 hour round trip we would have to plan quite a few different videos.

Knowing how close you are with them, that means a lot. So glad this "spoke" to you. At my age it hit a little closer to home. :-)

I realized when you did your 7th anniversary video and Bev mentioned this one that I had watched and not left a comment. The statue is quite moving and what you said about bonds and shared memory touched me but also brought up some sadness of my own about how some relationships have deteriorated as I became more disabled and unable to do the things I used to. I had always thought the shared history and the shared griefs over the years would hold things together in bad times as well, since they always had seemed to when the misfortune came to others- I never hesitated to pitch in, show up or whatever bc it was who I was but also who I thought we were. It's been disheartening to say the least to find out not so much. And as much as I know it's layered with having diseases they haven't heard of, to expecting me to be able to show back up in the same way when I'm 'back to normal', to a rather harsh political movement several family members have joined, it still kinda hit me when you summed up that collective experience and life the way you did Paul. It's silly how much so little can invoke and had it been a clumsy turn of phrase I'm sure it would've so much, but you said it beautifully and it's a lovely statue with some quite striking detail. thanks for sharing it and your words. It looks like it's in a beautiful park there. sorry for not commenting sooner and for now writing so much :)

Annie, first, you never need apologize for how much you write, nor for not commenting at all. We are always thrilled to hear from you, but never "expect" it. That said, thank you so very much for the kind words on how I explained my perception of this work, and perhaps a big of my perception of life itself. I'm not entirely certain what to say in regards to it bring back some less-than-exemplary memories, because, well, those likewise are an integral part of who we are both individually and collectively. In the Anniversary Episode each year you hear us discuss our least favorite episode, and those sometimes involve some pretty horrific memories, but it is still a shared experience. But I understand what you are saying about individuals that leave our lives for reasons that seem petty, petulant, and shallow. I understand because I have experienced it, but it rarely comes to mind.

@@Realunitedstates thanks Paul. sorry you understand. that's one of those areas I'd rather more people didn't have a lot of first hand knowledge of. For me, I think the memories in the past being good ones is the hard part. the current status can make it feel like that wasn't so real and makes you want to reevaluate those times, but it was, just with a different meaning I didn't see and a very different ending than I expected although maybe should have seen coming. I think if I was able to get out of the house (or even do more inside the house) it would be easier to not think of, but that's definitely not where I'm at or where I'm headed in the immediate future from the looks of things and as holidays near trying to remind myself not to be buying gifts or planning on seeing them as last year came with more honesty from them- directly and via proxy, then would be prudent by anyone, but it left me questioning all that came before. Anyways, thanks for listening and being kind. :)

"Near" is sort of an ambiguous term. It's nearly two hours drive.
