Here in Chile happened a strange thing about this movie and Jim Carrey's popularity. In the US, the movie that got his career on was Ace Ventura, then he made the Mask and he got famous worldwide. In Chile, the first movie we got from him in theaters was the Mask, then the distributors decided to release Ace Ventura for the public in Chile. Worldwide, after the success of the Mask they produced the second Ace Ventura. So here in Chile we had that three movies in a period of time very short, like just three years! Milo has to be the best movie dog Ever! I really enjoyed your reaction, it's always a great time to watch movies with you guys 😂

Yes, his career took off faster than any other movie star’s career did. He had 3 hit movies be number 1 at the box office all in the same year. No other big actor’s career took of that fast, not even Tom Cruise’s career took off that fast

I love the scene when The Mask sings Cuban Pete. It's so funny and very Broadway-esque. I really really love the bit toward the end where he appears over the bar and pulls a Clint Eastwood with that line from Dirty Harry. "Now you have to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya....punk?"

Nothing beats the 90s era of movies! The feelings these movies give is unobtainable in todays entertainment.

The Mask and Liar, Liar are my favorite Jim Carrey movies. Smokin'!🥰

Oh, I was going to tell you. Being a wolf and whistling or howling at a girl was a big thing many, many years ago. In fact, when a good looking girl would walk by and the guys would whistle, it was called a "wolf whistle". Joy has heard them lots of times, I'll bet. You'd also see it a lot in cartoons. Thanks!

The wolf whistle literally originated from the cartoon clip from 1943 shown on the TV in the beginning of the movie.

During the Mask's first transformation, you can see a Tasmanian Devil pillow on the couch. The Mask's spinning emulates that character's signature movement. There are many other references to classic cartoons: the wolf transformation is based on the "Big Bad Wolf" of MGM's Red Hot Riding Hood cartoon (also the one Stanley watched), the comical "death scene" is based on Bugs Bunny, the "aggressive French womanizer" persona is clearly Pepe Le Pew.

The line "Mama Mia, that's a spicy meatball" is from a 1970s Alka-Seltzer TV commercial.

This is my favorite superhero movie of all time. Milo is such a good boy!

This is one of my favorite Jim Carrey movies since the 90's!😉🤣

My mom's friends bred Jack Russells to sell and their main pair were SUPER smart. They could figure out how to open cages from the inside.

Carrey getting his ya-yas out in arguably his best film and arguably the best intro of a star-to-be with Diaz in her film debut.

The actress who played Peggy is the widow of late actor John Ritter from the show Threes company and some movies and other series.

First appearance of the mask ( called masque in the comic ) was September 1987 dark horse comics #10 the character was very different to the mask movie or cartoon ( movie 1994,cartoon 1995 ) in the comic the wearer would have magical powers at the cost of their sanity the more you wear the more insane and violent you become,this was ignored by the movie to make it more fun,but its origins are very dark

Jack Russells are typically high energy, very smart, and have hind legs like super-springs. You better know what you're getting yourself into before you add one of _those_ to your family!

Jim Carrey movies hold special place inside my heart.

The only movies I love more than this that feature a highly intelligent Jack Russell Terrier are *The Thin Man* from 1934 and it's 5 sequels that spanned into the 40's. My sister had a dog once that was 1/2 Chihuahua and 1/2 Rat Terrier. He had Chihuahua speed and those spring loaded Terrier legs that let him bounce really high into the air. You want to talk loyal and protective as all get out. You mix a loyal and protective terrier with a loyal and protective Chihuahua who thinks they're Godzilla, King Kong and a Rottweiler rolled into one and no one better even *think* about harming someone that dog considers family. 😂

I always wanted a jack russell terrier, This movie only reminds me to try to find one❤

Hi Marian & Joy!😊 This was Cameron Diaz's first film. The animated series debuted a year later in 1995. There was also a sequel "Son of the Mask" but it was a horrible film. Great reactions to one of Jim Carrey's finest films, Kids!!!!🎬👏👏👏👏

No, that movie wasn’t that good. It was decent at best and I’m actually being generous when I when I say that. There’s nothing unique about it, Jim Carrey movies are the most unique out of any other comedy

15:00 The mask protects the user's identity, so it didn't work, it's like the mask sets priorities, if he were in danger, would be transformed without problems, that's why it worked at the end of the movie, with all that shooting.

You have it backwards: the movie came first and was so successful, they made a cartoon. (ALthought the COMIC BOOK came firstest). This is just like Ghostbusters, Wrestlemania and Pac Man: the movie and video game were so popular, they made cartoon cash-graps AFTERWARDS. Even more: ....they made cartoon cash grabs for Gilligan's Island, Beetlejuice, Dumb and Dumber, Robocop, Ewoks, and Teen Wolf. ALL these cartoons were cash-grabs that came AFTER the movie.

I think we can all agree, Milo is the star of this movie.

When I saw this part in the movie theater I happen to be taking a drink, almost choked to death when he coughed on the thug. Teach me to drink during a Jim Carrey movie!

I recommend you put in the tittle the words : movie reaction first time watching Those kaywords help with the alg0rithm and makes more easy to find your videos

This is my favorite Jim Carrey comedy. Unlike most of his others, this one's humor doesn't cross the line into gross or juvenile. 👍 (The other one I'd say that about is Liar, Liar, which I _do_ like, but I like The Mask more.)

How was this subtitled that it calls it 'Hold me close Red'? Im almost positive it is 'Hold me closer Ed'. Why shouldn't Peggy 'betray' Ipkiss, he is a criminal that robbed a bank. That kind of ruins his innocent good guy cred IMO. Still not giving Ipkiss's friend his due by so fervently wishing he won't get the mask, but you were a lot more accepting of him than most reactors. Most I see almost hate the guy.
