I think communism is scary but I think America does need some extra socialism aspects. A universal healthcare like the rest of the developed world makes total sense. You guys work too much and don’t get enough time on. Totally agree with you on the biased news media, but they will do anytime to get you to tune in and watch. People didn't really know about the virus until December and the general public was made more aware of it in January. Everyone was downplaying the risk of the virus even in February. I remember reading news articles about the risk of coronavirus being low in Canada and now look at us. I am not that shocked that when they left everything still seemed fine. Especially in the U.S where their own president said it wasn't a big deal.

I went on a week long hiking trip around the middle of March- when I left there were just 1500 US cases, my college was going to go online for a few weeks but would let people in the dorms (like me) stay there. I get back and there’s 30,000 cases, my state is under a stay at home order, and my college is staying online for the rest of the semester and is kicking everybody off campus. Crazy.

Do you Americans even know why you bought so much toilet paper? You bought because everyone else bought in the belief that someone knew something you did not know and the fear of being without. But from the very beginning, the toilet paper crisis began in China. Several toilet paper factories in China switched to making mouth protection and people in nearby areas became worried that toilet paper would become a scarce commodity for a little while in the local area. This fear then spread throughout the world. including to the usa.
