COUNTERTOP MAKEOVER FOR $54 | DIY | RENTER FRIENDLY | HOME DECOR

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hello! For my first FULL renter friendly product review on here we are doing contact paper countertops for kitchens and bathrooms. Outside of doing reviews I am redecorating my entire house for less than the cost of a luxury sofa. Renter friendly product reviews is a passion project for me since when I started to really decorate my house I was a renter. I found out that a lot of the products out there were not good. Ripping paint and leaving residue. I started doing product reviews and have installed, tested, and reviewed over 20 brands now at this point. Turning my house into a renter friendly test kitchen. All purchased with my own money so I can give honest feedback. #diy #homedecor #contactpaper #renterfriendly #homeimprovement

Omgosh I’m so glad I found your page. Not only are you honest, but you’re willing to test things out for your viewers!! Thank you so much. Looking forward to learning some DIYs from you with paint and peel and stick because I also don’t really have tools besides a power drill lol

This is fantastic! I’m trying to think about how I’ll do it around the sink but I am definitely going to try it

I had a hard time finding a demo of applying StickyArt contact paper. I had two false starts and needed to see how someone else had done it. The wallpaper tool looks like the thing I'm missing! Great demo, thanks!

You tout this as renter friendly. I would love to see a video showing just how easy the removal is. It must be different than the Contact paper from years past because that stuff was a bear to remove if it had been down for a while. You know landlords expect everything to be in tip top condition if you’re going to get your deposit back.

I haven’t posted it here but I do have a removal after it being on my bar for 7 months on my Instagram. I will catch up & put it in my shorts here

What a beautiful product you did a great job. I’m going to see if my niece would be interested in this she’s got an old bathroom counter top.

This looks so good. Would you by a chance know if it puckers up with a hot plate sitting on it?

I love all your videos! Do you have any tips on rounded countertops? I just ordered the Decotalk wood grain and it’s arriving February 9th! I can’t wait!

Have you installed around an undermount kitchen sink? Ive seen alot of videos around a drop in sink but not an undermount. I'm having a hard time committing to buying peel and stick without seeing it done with an undermount sink first.

I'm completely sold on this! I'm renting and my kitchen is pretty outdated and could definitely use an update. any thoughts on installing on countertops that have that small lip at the back that goes up against the wall a few inches?

Two ways you can do it. Install it on the countertop itself and then come back in and do a strip on the back lip. Probably the easiest. This paper has enough to wrap the counter whole with the lip so you go along and install it horizontally.

When you line up the next piece, should there be any overlap or do you just butt it up against the piece you already installed? I wonder how it does with water resistance at the seam?

I always do a 1/2 inch overlap just in case. Also, this is helpful if the vinyl shrinks (which can happen) so the butted seam doesn’t leave a gap.

Particle board is, by its nature of construction, flaky. So it probably won't be as easy to pull up to go back an inch to, eg, fix a crease. Pieces of the particle board may stick to it instead when you pull it up. But if you take that into consideration, I would think it should come out beautiful.

What does it look like if you have to have a seem on your counter?

This will not have a seam for 13ft. If you need to do a seam you will want to do a 1/2 inch overlap. The pattern repeats every 41 inches so if you need to match you will find the exact pattern in the repeat to start your next roll. Hope that made sense!

Are there any tips for installing in a U-shaped kitchen?

  • @Beingthebloomss

    @Beingthebloomss

    Жыл бұрын

You will have to do each side as it own. If I had this style of kitchen I would take the contact paper to the corner and do an angled cut so the contact paper is as seamless as possible from one counter to the next. I will do more how to videos on contact paper and peel and stick wallpaper. I don’t have the best kitchen and bathrooms to show the more difficult install stuff so I will be doing stuff at friends house.

I also have a question about L shaped counters but more of the position of the paper. I understand you do it horizontally on the counter that is against the wall with the sink. However, what happens when you get to the L part of the counter (where the counter is not against the wall and sticking out into the room)? Do you keep on laying the paper horizontally or do you flip it to lay vertically ? Hope that makes sense. Which I could attach a pic lol
