    I honestly never considered how simply gripping the paddle harder makes a big difference in how the ball reacts. I'd always found myself being able to block backhand many times easier than my forehand almost certainly for that reason.

    Nice as usual. Ive been playing for almost 25 years now in Argentina and certainly took several years to incorporate the concept of relaxing and soft touching the ball (as you can see Im no prodigy at this haha).

    Great video. There are a lot of tutorials showing how to counter the topspin with forehad but my personal problem was dealing it with backhand. This tutorial was perfect for me. Thank you.

    Thanks for your coaching, guys. It is quite clear now how to start practice from right away. The only detail that could cause some troubles is how to execute all of these receives from forehand side. At least it would be great to know some subtleties of a counter fh topspin execution.

    Well, because the opponent is playing the ball where he's already standing. There's someone at my club who's fond of this slow spinny loop but he plays it where one's not, typically close behind the net and also puts a bit of side spin in it and it's a lot harder that way. There's probably a reason why one doesn't see this much on the pro level though and it probably has big weaknesses. But Kenta Matsuraida also had this very weird backhand chop-like move that looks like it shouldn't work because of how slow it is, but opponents rammed it into the net 3/4 of the time because of how weird it looked and how hard it was to estimate the amount of backspin.

    Is there any video on playing unorthodox but consistent player. The problem is their way of playing shots confuses and distracts opponent and the trajectory is also something opponent is not used to. I have hard time when i see ball instead of coming with curved trajectory it comes flying or skidding and in this case all I could do is make sure place it back on the table at least. As i cannot topspin it easily as it is deep and low and with no speed the moment i touch it jumps out of the table as if its almost flat hit.

  • @pingskills

    Great question. I think with this type of ball you want to generate more topspin and almost treat the ball like it has some backspin on it so you lift it higher. Give this a try and see how it goes. Good luck.

  • @patmer2087

    I usually do fast topspin’s then mix twiddle to the backhand rubber (slower but spinny rubber) and do a spinny but slow speed Chinese style brush loop! The look of sheer terror on my opponent is funny af😂 (I’m talking amateur vs amateur) obviously 😅

    If I punch the ball should I be punching downward? Sometimes I find myself overcompensating and hitting way too low and it goes into the net.

    Try and take the ball at the top of the bounce. Yes, you often need to punch the ball downwards but if you are going into the net then try a little less downwards motion.

    @@pingskills When I counter tops from a right-handed rival I have to make some adjustments , if not my ball goes left or out of the table because I loop along the spin. When I counter a lefty I even don't think. Just loop it harder and you are there.

  • @uleyzano6178

    @uleyzano6178

    Жыл бұрын

    @@pingskills There's no difference between left-handed and right-handed players in a sense of mechanics. The difference is in combination of players. Most of the people are right-handed and they play against one another . So in most games rivals play with the same leading hand. If you chose for the demonstration a left-handed person it would be a usual combination.
