Counter stern fairing, Transom Knees and Bulwark Templating! ***Episode 25***
EPISODE 25
In this episode it is time to finish the epoxy fairing of the counter stern and give it it's final sanding ready for it's first coat of primer.
I also get the next two centre transom knees steam bent and glued up on the former.
Then it's onto the next stage of the build. The Bulwarks.
I begin the task by making some templates using plywood and some tick sticks glued on to mark all my lines off the deck.
And off to the sawmill to collect the Larch i will be using to plank the Bulwarks.

The look on your dogs face was like 'I didn't appreciate you leaving me behind'. Looking forward to your next vlog!

Or the dog was thinking “So much mud so little time and I’m stuck in the truck”
great episode, your dogs look speaks a thousand words.....one of them was "bastard".
"moving towards a life of boat building and sailing" .... dude .... I think you've arrived. 😊 lovely clips of some awesome carpentry, pretty girls and sad puppies too.
Great to see the next installment Finn. Slow n steady but I'm sure the end product will be beautiful. Hang in there mate!!
Hi Finn I first saw you working with Leo, then found you have your own channel. I have watched all your episodes over the last few days! I have enjoyed every one and am impressed by your painstaking and patient approach to your work. Well done from down under and get a move on! More of the same needed. If I were a bit younger, a bit more sprightly and lived in the same country I might even come and give you a hand or at least an Esky of cold Australian beers. Keep up the great work mate. Bill

Well said Bill (and me too from a bit further south of you i.e: "over the ditch") I really enjoyed Finn building his shed and getting all set up. Also enjoy the odd shot of what is happening around and out of the yard too. Great work Finn !
Good times, both you and Leo posting!
Good to see you are giving yourself some R&R it's good to clear the head and come back fresh. Love your dog.
I know I should comment on your boats and the work but I’m afraid your dog stole the show with those eyes!! My god what a chuckle that gave me! Please introduce us next video! A right and proper ships dog I’m thinking!
I dare say young man, that your sailing vessel is coming along quite nicely. your precision work is palpable. it's like we can't get enough of your vidéos. the down-to-earth skill and heart-warming approach is brilliant. i must say too, your music choices are quite intriguing and worth a second listening to. cheers

Great to see all the progress made this far bro its quite pleasing...but can't get enough of your videos. Congratulations on your new acquisition... man shall not live by work alone.. Cheers from Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹
👍👍 Fleet owner/master ? Congrats ! The dog stole the show .. 😉
Never enough for me, really enjoy your vlog and the music, good choice!
its about bloody time you made another video. keep em coming. great stuff.
You got the stink eye from the pup abandoned to the truck. All local wood mills look the same probably smell great to a dog. 😆
Wow! Your pooch is so expressive!
Nice to see you again Finn I looking at your yacht that is sure a big one looking forward to next time
Nice to see continued progress on the boat build, thanks for sharing! Looking forward to the next video!
Some solid progress Finn, she is coming together well. That large wooden motor cruiser you have been working on looks absolutely beautiful too.
Thanks for the update, Cheers from Sequim.
9:54 "What do you mean, I have too many clamps? You can never have too many clamps."
Enjoyed the update. Thanks
You're getting there Finn and in doing so you're also encouraging me to continue on with my projects. :)

Absolutely awesome to hear!! Keep it up and share the journey 🤙🏼
Good to see you managing a quick blast (or slow blast lol) out into the Swale, part of my sailing ground for all my life so far.
If you use a sweep you can drag the fairing material to almost finished surface. a length of your template ply, with a good edge would do. About 3" wide and slightly longer than your work area.
Popped over to bump up the algorithm. Thank you for the video Finn.
Did anyone else think My Self Reliance started playing somehow mid video? Hoping you get more time soon to dedicate to your boat and videos Finn. Cheers

Solid progress ! Thanks for sharing
Thanks Finn 🍺👏👏👏👌🇬🇧🍺
Thanks Finn if you improve quality and regularity of vids then you have the makings of a great channel, though as is I am very glad I subscribed, thanks I really appreciate it.
Nice bit if fairing there! Good to see the creek again too. That's where I used to sail in the 1970's. Lovely to see the skylines again! Cheers, Ian in Blackpool
Thanks for the update Finn. 🙂
I love your attention to detail Finn and the fine finishes you aim for. She'll look almost as good as your girl when she's finished. (Old bugger from NZ here - i hope it's not too PC to say that?) Cheers
Nice work Finn!
Lovely job Finn, good on you mate
Amazing work, Finn, especially considering you are doing most of it on your own. Love the vlogs!
Looking good Finn...cheers rr Normandy, Fra.
Good job. One step at a time to The best of your ability. Honestly!

Lookin' good Finn.
👍👌👏 Very well done again and as always (video and work). Congrats! I'm so glad to see, that you have been able to purchase a really nice sailing boat so that you can have a bit of fun between all the work. 2) I absolutely love dogs! This one is pretty cute and gorgeous. 💚 Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health to all of you (including the dog of course)
Really enjoying and admiring your work Finn.
Excellent!!
Nice work Finn….
As the old saying goes "you can never own enough clamps"
Hi Finn Good job. Want to do a trans Atlantic crossing with me? Will have four male crew all expenses paid plus salary. Will sail from La Rochelle at the end of September. Will make many stops until the Canary Islands and then to The Bahamas/Florida. You will have your own en suite cabin and can bring someone if you wish.

👍!!!🤘
Finn, a pleasure as usual. Not knowing much about different styles of boats, why is the transom on yours tipped back at such an angle?
Coming along nicely ! Any idea of when you would hope to finish ?
@04:13 That was confusing (to me), type-name is Catch, but in my mind I translated it to ketch. Until i saw the writing on the cabin-side...🤭
Just going back checking out your videos making sure I didn’t miss any getting your ad revenue up I figure that’s how I can help you
if u dont mind me asking Fin? what did u pay 4 the boat? how much was the new sails? its just nice to get a brief understanding of the costs involved in sailing, i know it aint cheap brother, power to u may u find ur dreams,,never STOP Loving,,bob&MrTao,xx

Hiya Finn
I saw a sloop. I didn't see a ketch.

It’s an Atlanta Catch. I didn’t say ketch. But must have sounded like it. Apologies for the confusion
You definitely seem to have got the making of the knees sorted now. Given that there is not a lot of sweep in the sheer (i hope i got that right) would it be possible to edge set the bulwark boards rather than having to template and cut out of larger stock? What are the pros and cons?
@knotfinnishedyet9170
2 жыл бұрын
I do plan to edge set the planks but am making templates for sizing and piece of mind. Also it was quite an enjoyable process.
Holy hell your steering wheel is on the wrong side!!! 😅
Ketch ??? someone stole your mizzen mate

Did you create a workshop upstairs that you can access from the deck?
6:49… weird hearing My Self Reliance channel music coming from Finn’s channel.
Great video. I hope your dog forgave you for leaving in the pickup :-).

I knew a ferro cement boat. Grouper boat. What a tank. Probably bouncing on the bottom of the ocean still. Goodland,Fl. Ha ha
It's a shame that someone painted the bulwark.. I'm just very old school traditional.. if im going to use wood its not going to be painted.. might cover it with clear epoxy so I don't have to always be trying to keep it looking great..
