A lot of them in that meeting were ridiculous. It was a perfect example of people being more interested in the mechanics of having a meeting, rather than achieving any meaningful outcome. My suspicion is that this happens in every parish council, church group, cycling club and tinpot little organisation up and down the country. One minute a man is Joe the bricklayer, but give him a job on the golf club committee and he behaves like he's holding the nuclear codes! Fair enough this fella didn't deserve death threats, but the real victims are the people who elect them to do a job, pay their taxes, then get to witness a shambles like this.

Bang on. I seem to recall reading that Jackie Weaver (always her full name of course) was brought in precisely because of previous bad behaviour. The proof is in the pudding. The first few minutes are chaos...but when three of them are booted out it turns into a nice civil meeting. It turns out she wasn't entitled to do this, but I reckon a lot more work got done after she did.

And at the following meeting, he read out a lawyers letter with advice justifying why Weaver's meetings were "unlawful" but when he was asked for a copy by the public, he refused and claimed attorney-client privilege (despite that being legally waived if you reveal the advice in public) and threatened people with a non-molestation order if they asked any further and invited them to try it. ⁠@@danjames4086yes but, maybe if you think about it for a second, if you are elected and take it serious (which they obviously did) and expect everyone to follow the rules and regulations, then you would understand why they were protesting and nothing got done. In the end, IIRC, the acts of booting them and the meeting were unlawful. And I take a few brass clumsy council members over those that don‘t follow the rules and regulations, because those are breaking the laws and I can‘t stand politicians who do that. None the less because it may cost you, the tax payer double. One for the thing and two for any potential lawsuit.

Originally I thought he was someone's random family member trying to troll everyone else off screen and derail things. Can't believe he was not only being serious but considers his display a justifiable response.

Did you see the video? Jackie was the only one in the wrong. Yes they were angry, because she expected to get away with whatever and face no consequences. If you saw a man yelling at a woman for stomping on puppies, you wouldn’t act like the man was in the wring for being angry and flustered, you’d be mad at the clearly psychopathic woman doing it. You cant judge anything like this without context. This guy and Barry were the elected chair and vice chair. The whole video makes sense two ways: Either they were acting badly for some time and were raging like idiots as they recieved their consequences, or they had been mistreated by Jackie who was acting badly and they were angry about it which is perfectly readonable.

Actually, they were wrong, first in saying the clerk had no authority, she did as she was called in specifically to be a trouble-shooter on a notoriously dysfunctional council, and that the meeting was illegal, which it wasn’t considering a meeting can be called by either the chairman or two council members.

I wonder if he read the standing orders and understood them?
