Agree, the new 'hudson bay' looks more like a dayton with a little more beard or a plumb national. Its its own thing entirely. The new one is much thicker in geometry, not as nice as a light chopping or limbing axe. In any case Rinaldi make a better tool if you want something in that sort of style

Amazon recently had a vendor offering the 28” old style Hudson Bay pattern, which is my absolute fav! So I ordered it. I got this stubby little almost west Germany looking big on a 24” handle. I collect HB patterns - I have a vtg Collins, vtg Snow & Nealley, a new S&N made by the Amish and a Norland Tomahawk, and the Marbles. I am missing the CT old style HB, been looking for it everywhere - not a person in existence has it.

You got yourself a nice collection I still keep a lookout for the old style ct the new one definitly has its place its a nice little wedge banger but as far as new companies nobody really makes a true HB pattern any more that's what made CT stand out thanks for sharing your collection and watching man🤘🏻

I never understood Hudson Bay style axes. There was always WAY too little handle engagement with them for me to feel confident with them. Every single one gave me anxiety that my Gransfors, Council Dayton patterns, etc gave me. Just always seemed like a Tomahawk with extra steps. This one looks much more secure.

Your absolutely right!!! I just like the original design because they are terrific for limbing but as a chopper they are prone to glancing

I would love to see a video about turning a bike saddle bag into an axe sheath.

Interesting perspective. I have a different opinion about the axe, it is a vast improvement over the previous model in terms of functionality, and also does many tasks better than a vintage Hudson Bay. A lot of people get upset this isn’t a Norlund, and should really just buy that if it’s what they’re after. I have one for myself and also got one for my brother I liked it so much. I’ve used it for limbing, splitting wedges, chainsaw milling, even pounding nails and spikes in a pinch. For its price point there aren’t many axes out there that can compete. Even aside from price this is a great axe. The conversation can be had about how it compares to a Norlund or other HB styles but I wouldn’t let that distract from the fact this is a quality tool at a great price.

I really shpuld revisit this axe it has really grown on me I use it as a small wedge banger and have came to the realization that it is probably one of the most versatile little axes in my collection. I really appreciate your feedback and can say I agree 100% with you thanks for watching man
