Could this be the ultimate delay pedal for synths?

Музыка

Small jam session showcasing Eventide's Rose - one of the best bucket brigade delay pedals with pure analog filtering, on a Moog Minitaur and Arturia Keystep Pro.
The Rose is directly connected on the output of the Minitaur & Drumbrute Impact, with the Keystep Pro running the sequences along side the live performance.
The keys sound @1:53 is courtesy of Arturia V-Collection's Stage-73 V plugin with Eventide's Blackhole plugin to add a huge reverb.

The Rose is 'like' a bucket brigade in that the sample clock is driven by a varying LFO. It doesn't do any "DSP". There's no DSP chip or algorithms. It's quite a left turn for Eventide but , in a sense, a return to the earliest days of digital audio before there were standards for sample rate, DSP chips, etc. Back then companies like Eventide, Lexicon, Publison designed products that swept the sample clock rather than base their systems on a fixed standard stable clock. Bucket brigade products HAVE to vary the sample rate to change delay and that's what Rose is capable of doing, Unlike BBDs built using CCD (charge coupled devices), Rose has a digital delay line. BBDs sound cool in part because of the varying sample rate but they only work for short delays. A BBD uses a clock to transfer an analog voltage along a series of capacitors and switches. A little bit is lost with each transfer. Rose turns this on it's head by building a digital bucket brigade making long delays possible and doing stuff that a CCD cannot do like reversing the audio. Since only the delay line is digital, Rose uses analog circuitry for saturation, feedback and filtering. This unorthodox approach opens up all sorts of weird and unpredictable effects but it takes some experimenting and many users find it confusing. Rose is not for the weak of mind or spirit. Its also pricey to build given all the analog circuitry. That said we don't know anything else that sounds as beautiful and that can do so many cool things.
